I like New-grounds but I kinda get tired of all the "I'm a legitimate art critic TM" types. You draw big tiddies on your anime girl and it's a 5 star master piece. But anything sophisticated or personally meaningful to you won't be rated at all or given the most dullest of feedback. So both sites environments have their problems.

It all boils down to popularity.
CalArts style became a thing because the shows that looked like that became huge and successful.
“Newgrounds Style” does exist, people see Oney, Egoraptor, Psychicpebbles, and other super popular animators, and naturally emulate that. Is that the only style on NG? Of course not. But to say it isn’t common for things to look this way is lying.

Newgrounds hasn't been relevant in a decade. And I've honestly not seen anything that looks like that anyway.
