I wanted to post the River city ransom Daft punk flash but that is long gone it seems.
Blockhead was my favorite. Mastermind was great too, also by the same guy.
>tfw it is usually labeled ZONE but not BCS
it's 2020 and I am forgotten.
They purged a decade and a half's worth of memories, magnificent art, and exploitative garbage from newgrounds.
And yet this survived
Ah yes! You're watching it too.
CHROOOOOOOME!!!!
PICONJO PWNS J00
It was a series of flash sprite cartoons where Bowser hires Goro from Mortal Kombat to kill Princess Peach and then Mario, Luigi, Sonic, and Knuckles go an get revenge.
Wow, did know you were still kicking around, Shoot I remember looking at your art ages ago over at HF, before the big purge.

I'm really sad I was so incredibly poor back during peak newgrounds. I was stuck with 56k dialup so even my free entertainment was harshly limited. I get to watch 2 videos a day... yaaay. I wish I saved more of them though. You have no idea how impossible it is to find the flash files for old classics.
Hey did you guys know many flash videos had "directors commentary" or debug modes hidden outside of the viewable area? If you downloaded the files and opened them in your browser (or the standalone flash projector) you might find a surprise waiting.
I played the shit out of Interactive Buddy in 2006
Links Quest For Ass was one of my favorites. The originals episode is broken now, but fortunately there are archived copies.

Fucking broke the mouse in the public library
fuck off chris
I still watch this. newgrounds.com
Egoraptor would unironically regain my respect if he talked about the site in a positive way again, if at least for giving him a fanbase which jumpstarted his career today.
Why did the online animation scene die? It died even before the death of flash was announced.
it wasn't profitable.
it took a long time for people to animate cartoons worth a damn, the rest were teenagers and 20-somethings fucking around in flash.
youtube found a way to make people money, so they shifted to video which was cheaper to produce, easier for any ol' asshole off the street to make, and thus, the scene shifted to allow advertisement to take advantage of popular videos rather than animations (flash or otherwise).
the people making cartoons grew up and it became profitable for a while then it wasn't. I don't think the newer generations care about cartoons period.
>this user unironically enjoys "newgrounds style"
To let you imagine how unprofitable traditional animation on youtube is, psychicpebbles Get out of my Car video which had over 25 million views got 1000 dollars in ad revenue total.

This and Corey's music video introduced me to Reel Big Fish, which in turn introduced me to Ska as a genre
I really hate how many "music videos" were taken down. So many of my favorites are gone forever with only some hyper youtube compressed version existing now.
i have no idea what that is.
has it made $1000 total since its been out, or is that over some regular interval? without a point of reference, i have no idea how much dough that is compared to other youtube content
All the spam guys posting flashes that prompted multiple inescapable print screens with a loud siren were pretty good
why does everyone hate this site again? because Tom Fulp made it a Platform that allowed people the freedom to post anything by anyone? people forget that its because of newgrounds a lot of internet animators exist now
i dont hate it at all. im rather sad that its existence has little time remaining, and that my favorite sprite animations have been mostly removed. i also wish my favorite animators would make stuff again because nobody has duplicated their sense of timing or humor...
One part contrarians, one part zoomers who never knew the site in its prime so they hate it seeing people get nostalgic over it, and one part old jaded fucks who got to see their "heroes" grow into something they didn't like over twitter so they hate the entire site by association.
Excellent taste in animator, user. Hoy te amo ++ is my favorite of his:

>everyone
no, it's just faggots and trannies from twitter that hate it
newgrounds.com
give it some time to load
literally only went there 15 years ago for the porn
Albinoblacksheep is better.
what a cute witch
Animutations were the best
Albinoblacksheep totally felt more creative. Newgrounds unfortunately fell victim to "art imitating art imitating art" regression. Back when everyone was trying to copy a few super popular artists and failing miserably but still being voted highly because of the "Hey I recognize thing!" effect.
Speaking of Bowser, Bowser's Kingdom.
For me Mastermind is my favorite, but i somewhat despise blockhead, maybe it has something to do with coding for me.
i also fucking loved the games, Krinkles said also that if Project nexus 2 sells well they might do a sequel to the mastermind game also
>The cartoonists grew up
Never repeat this stupid goddamn lie. Flash animations were made by artists of all ages, and it was popular in its times because the cartoons were light in bandwidth and thus available before broadband was common. You used to have to download that shit on a phone line, child.
That's also why sites like YTMND and Yas Forums got popular, and why memes were a thing. You couldn't post a 4 gig video with your retarded "Quinton Reviews" tier rambling. You had to be consise and share images that had a lot of implicit information to other users. Which is why people remember those times fondly, because you had to be clever to speak a thousand words with an image. Now you just use ten thousand words to say something that could be summarized with ten and real ad revenue for being inefficient and boring.
I played this before I saw Evangelion and it colored my whole perspective of the show.
Magical Trevor
from what ive seen its just tumblr refugees on twitter for the most part but there are people who used to be on newgrounds that are no longer fans for different more legitimate reasons like rtil. personally the purge of old content makes me miss the old shitposting flash movies/games
If you guys want to be able to continue watching and playing these old flash movies and games, download the newgrounds browser. I did and its fucking great knowing that I can enjoy this stuff for all eternity now.
youtube and greed fucked over newgrounds and internet animation or was it a necessary evil that lead to "progression" of animation
wait was there a mass purge or something or are you reffering to the rating system?
I never stuck around NG for its later years so I don't know what the "great purge" is about. But I do know lots of videos with copyrighted music got taken down.
It wasn't YouTube, at least not initially.
The roots lie in Apple denying Adobe the implementation of Flash Player on iOS.
i dont know in what time period but at some point content flagged as low quality was deleted from the site, as for what reason to do so im not aware of, maybe to save space, improve overall quality or something
my favorite n*wgr**nds is the one that spouts racist sexist homophobic words for """""""comedy""""""
I think competitor sites to YouTube looked at the way things were going and realized they'd never beat YouTube on trash volume. YouTube will always have more content.
But it's super fucking easy to be better than YouTube's leaders. Tons of people have more talent than the top Youtubers, so Newgrounds and Vimeo tried to cultivate that atmosphere. A place where actual talent goes when it can't be found on Youtube.
But the problem is Google owns YouTube and Google is how things are found, so you can only find Youtube and there's no viewership on competitor sites regardless.

I don't hate it, I used to watch and play with the content all the time during lunchtime at the school library, it's just been wholly irrelevant to me since I left grade school. Looking back at it, outside of enjoying some of the content, the community always felt circlejerkish to me, with a lot of sycophants brown nosing certain creators but completely dumping on others for one reason or another, and god damn those comments were some Youtube-tier retardation.
I'm not sure if anything has changed over the years, I just don't have any interest in finding out.
These people weren't even fucking sperm cells in Newgrounds' heyday. They have no clue what they're talking about.
If you think this, you do not browse Yas Forums very often.
I am a Yas Forumsck of the rock, /ourguy/
