Why are great movies being sabotaged with fake wokeness?

>Why are great movies being sabotaged with fake wokeness?
Fuck off Yas Forums

>I refuse to see it in theaters
Wow user, it's amazing that you have the ability to cause box office failures all by yourself

Careful, you fool! If he refuses to see your comment you'll fucking explode!

You're stupid if you think people don't avoid paying money for things that go against their values, user

>>"Lego Movie 2 is about toxic masculinity!"
It's isn't. It is about being yourself, and not to be lost into following.

Read the rest of the OP lol

Aside from ignoring that Onward's failure was abetted by Coronavirus panic, I think the lesson here isn't why are movie's being sabotaged, but why are you letting yourself be influenced by marketing PR? Just follow a film you think looks interesting and go into it based on how you think it looks.

Agreed, Yas Forums is and has always been a progressive board

People didn't buy my product! SABOTAGE!!!

Stop being so easily manipulated you retarded conservacuck.
I'm not even convinced half the homophobes and transphobes hold any actual hatred they're just so deep in the meme they can't see out their own asshole.

>It's not about toxic masculinity.
>The only way not being yourself is not being masculine.

It was and thank God it bombed.

>Why are great movies being sabotaged with fake wokeness?

You are cherry picking and reaching

What does this even mean? I have no hatred in my heart, user. I just plain believe it's wrong to be a tranny or a homosexual. Doesn't mean I'm scared or have hatred for anyone.
I disagree. I saw it more as "there's value in being yourself, regardless of how many you are"
Wow, thanks for elaborating on that, user. Really changed my perspective.

Those are NOT the reasons those movies flopped. These are kid movies.

LEGO 2 flopped because it strayed too far from the original setting and the Wacky Space Queeeeen didn't attract as much attention as the first movie did with its Lego-City settings.

Onward failed because it was a trite fantasy world. "What if the world was just the same it is now, but with a few magical creatures?"
The protagonists were a couple of boring twenty-something smurfs.

What both movies have in common is bad settings that were obvious to kids.

Isn't that the OP's point though? You can't really separate the PR from the impression people are going to get ahead of time, and they're not just misrepresenting the movies by highlighting aspects that aren't actually important to the plot, they're highlighting things that actively deter people from seeing them. There's a sense of disconnect where they think appealing to a minority audience will give the movie mass appeal. If the movies were being sold purely on whether they looked interesting, the issue wouldn't exist.

More than that I think it's because social commentary often gets preachy and not fun. People have learned to stay clear of it. Same way people make fun of Christian rock music, for example. It comes off as insincere.

Good God, those are some ugly character designs. I know this is off-topic, but that probably has something to do with it too. You know it's trouble when they can't even make the promotional materials look tolerable.

>I have no hatred in my heart, user. I just plain believe it's wrong to be a tranny or a homosexual. Doesn't mean I'm scared or have hatred for anyone.
That's exactly what it means. If you accepted that the love lives and bodies of strangers are no business of yours, you wouldn't care. You care because you fear what you cannot comprehend. That's why you "just plain believe it's wrong".

so what you took from this was NOT that you were sold a bill of goods by fake outrage merchants over non issues, but instead that the movies failed at achieving the lies you'd been told and its... their fault?

I think it is more of poor timing. Lego Movie 2 was a February release. Wasn't Lego Ninjago movie released a couple of months beforehand? Onward suffered from the COVID-19 outbreak.
WDAS is guilty of woke writing. Ralph Breaks the Internet was stated by the director to be a feminist movie while Frozen II managed to check off half a dozen SJW talking points.

No, I care because I'm going to have children one day and I don't want destructive lies normalized. Doesn't mean I hate anyone, buddy.

whats the destructive lie behind "two adults should be able to get married, if they want"

>I win, bye-bye

That's fucking gay, dude.

Progressive as in literally homosexual.

No, it's just been /comblr/

And that it's okay for a boy to play legos with his sister and mix and match minifigs with minidolls

Well, the Christian answer is that a marriage is sanctified by God. So a homosexual marriage isn't real to begin with.
People can do whatever they want, that's just what I believe

>Why are great movies being sabotaged with fake wokeness?
Because people are sick of pandering messages involving irrelevant characters. Lego Movie 2 was never about problematic men, but some hucksters ran with that message because some doofus in sales thought that would put more butts in seats.

Same with the gay cyclops, people thought focusing on her would drum up larger viewership despite the fact she has no relevance to the plot.

The problem is the people working behind the scenes are working with a 10- year old plan that might have worked during the time when Fury Road was in theaters, but sure as hell don't work now.

OK, pedophile.

eh you're half right. It's marriage for MEN. So lesbians are shit out of luck and got to call it something else.

So...uxorege?

Lesbians are the worst anyway so.

Let's face the facts:
Lego Movie 2 is just a movie made by siscons for siscons

Reminds me of when my dad, who's a bleeding heart liberal, decided to go see the live action Beauty and the Beast because people were protesting it. He was incredibly confused afterwards since there was nothing worth protesting in it. People get riled up over nothing too easily.

Onward only bombed because of the Coronavirus. Lego Movie 2 only bombed because the brand was devalued by Batman and Ninjago.

>"Lego Movie 2 is about toxic masculinity!"

I'm pretty sure that was Emoji movie

You refused to see a movie because it might have an openly gay major character in it?

Wow. You suck more than Onward.

>I'm pretty sure that was Emoji movie

The Emoji Movie wasn't about anything. It was a mish-mash of half-thought-through ideas, written by an imbecile that saw nothing wrong with having a character say that reading and writing is lame, with the main character agreeing and dedicating himself to trying to find a fucking emoji to sum up his feelings instead of typing a few words. If Emoji Movie had been about Toxic Masculinity that would have been bad, but still better, because it would have been more than the shitty "be yourself, and don't think too hard about why you're the only one special enough to be allowed multiple expressions" story we got.

I think he means the line about how men are always getting credit for what women do.

Onward is just a broken film that needed at least another draft. Heck the Cyclops scene highlights that because they say Colt is the Stepfather.

It's like they didn't know where they wanted to go with the family unit.

Among other things like somehow missing the giant sign outside of TGI Manticores only because it would have ruined the "joke" for the audience even though we should have seen it.

Or the face that Barley was somehow not known to anyone but at the same time a well known nuisance to even have "Youtube" footage of his antics.

It just wasn't a best effort of Pixar. Gay Clops or not.

you didn't read the OP
I never saw it either but for the longest time as it was coming out I heard that over and over

But they're being sabotaged with fake outrage over fake wokeness...is what I would say if Lego Movie didn't bomb for being a complete rehash of what was a commercial in the first place and Onward wasn't horribly marketed and boring by design.

Yeah I just watched it with my wife and kid. It's just... lackluster. Even my five year old said at the end "He doesn't even talk to his dad? That's boring!"

I think it needed some kind of antagonist, like a school bully or something, and better jokes.

>progressive board

progressively shit

Makes you wished more people protested The Lion King for being a soulless remake.

The only thing I learned from this post is that you suffer from frail masculinity and you're a homophobe.

>Onward wasn't horribly marketed and boring by design.
And, like.
Came out during Corona.
>"He doesn't even talk to his dad?
For real? He doesn't do the one thing the movie revolves around? The fuck?

These two have the best answers. The rest of the thread is just filled with virtue signalling puntzes who go "I'm not problematic like all the other sheep." Point is, those movies do have other issues to why they failed, but the backfiring PR certainly don't help.

Onward failed because it was a re-writen version of that Will Smith Netflix movie, and also the Coronavirus, but hey man blame yourself I guess.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 107.7K)

I laughed to fucking hard at this

Yeah, he watches through a hole while his brother says goodbye to their dad, it's weak af

Lesbians are not gross though, it is hot. Seeing gay men are vomit educing though. No offense, it's just not for everyone.

Studios figured out that if they aren't confident about a project they can save face by calming it's got some kind of social message, knowing a certain percentage of people will then squabble over said message either for or against it. Not only does this double as a free publicity boost, but it also provides an escape hatch. If the movie's a hit, it's because they did the right thing and appealed to all the good progressives to come out to the theater. If the movie's a bomb, they can blame the nasty unwoke masses for not seeing its true value.

>match minifigs with minidolls
Woah this is not ok. I will never watch this mpvie

The biggest problem with that Will Smith Netflix movie is Will Smith.

I laugh at Fresh Prince every day. AAAAA wisconsin mayors

Just watched this since im stealing my brothers disney+ anyway, movies like a 7/10 solely on vague dnd enjoyment alone but The Manticore going apeshit in the chucky cheese and then stabbing a woman in the neck on an adrenaline rush were highlights, i wish we got more stuff with the mom and her's little sidequest

>gay major character"
She was less than a dot on the screen

GET WOKE

these designs are hideous and remind me of terrible furry art but with a budget

Marriage is a contract between humans that grants privileges from the state.
You don't even need to get any religion involved.

Well onward bomb because the pandemic, also wasnt that hyped

Well we're supposed to understand that he spent the day bonding with his father and so he gave Barley the moment he needed.

Nope.
It's PR people running with a cynical woke bait to let click baiters run viral marketing for free.
The problem being that nobody in general audiences ever notices, and movie nerds hate their guts.
