JSA Storytime: L.E.G.I.O.N

Good evening owls,

we keep kind of crossing over

Hello, Storyteller.

Crossovers within a shared universe are just weird. There's just something odd about the way they self justify themselves. But it's especially oodd in the big two, where the settings are so cluttered and filled with so many disparate elements, that it kind of circles around to not making any sense at all.

HE MAD

So I was skeptical of that Macbeth cast and concept and WTF that was fucking amazing

Now Norma I just have a hard time with as a thing

and yes, I am enjoying Colonialism Simulator, although I've run my ass away from one boss already. Not as bad as the sheer frisson of fear running across WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT in the woods in Witcher 3

I was surprised by how upbeat a lot of the music felt.

yes, we very special issue about racism

it's early Verdi so it's still quite conventional in many ways but, you know, it's a pretty great take on the original

How build-y is the character stuff? Are you like mage, fighter, rogue?

Maybe you should've asked for help instead of attacking these people, dumbass.

As for the reproduction part? Eh, tough shit. Try adoption.

So one thing that's neat is that there are separate skill trees for combat skills and for other stuff. On the other side, for instance, I put a point into Charisma so I can intimidate people more easily, other things are lockpicking, etc. But if you get your companions friendly enough, they can boost you on those as well as each being a distinct fighter "build".

of who I have so far, one guy is heavy armor/zweihander, another is delicate but sharp duelist, etc.

>heavy armor/zweihander
Does he also have a ridiculous codpiece and a big floofy hat?

Codpiece no, but the hats in this game are absolutely fucking LIT

Actually wait, what class would this cast be in a fantasy setting? What is Vril?

I love how the point of contention here is eye color of all things. In fact, it's always really funny that these very special episodes have the aliens hate each other over something superficial and stupid. Like skin color. ... HINT HINT.

Actually, I joke, but the original LOSH series had Tasmia has pretty unsubtly coded black. She and other desert dwelling tolokians are a slightly darker shade of blue than the city dwellers. Oh 70s.

is Bastard a viable RPG class?

his CHA is through the fucking roof

There used to be a Warlord in D&D but not anymore. I guess I'd make him an edgy Law-above-all Paladin. The Durlan's a monk. Stealth sounds like a Rogue, but I'd say she's a Fighter.

Can't help but be amused that Hal is the sensible one here.

Surely there's some kind of bard subclass that fits. Or maybe he's just a fighter who put all his points into CHA.

Though clearly he didn't put much into WIS because he keeps failing to do background checks on his clients.

CHA and INT, surely?

Yeah, CHA and INT but short on WIS

Speechifyin' Bard probably works yeah.

Lol poor poor Tyroc

Tyroc, Dawnstar, even Colossal Boy a little when they decided to play up his Jewness. The 70s were a... a different time. Not much different, granted, but still.

Gotta be some cosmic rule that being lord justice gets you a swaggy outfit.

You know, it's expected, and yet, it usually works as a story beat

Is it off base yo say the narrative structure of L.E.G.I.O.N reminds me of a manga? Not a shonen, goodness no. But more typical fare which is designed as an ongoing, but heavily arc based story.

Awww! I love how there was this redemption arc happening that nobody knew about.

It's okay, you can admit you've seen this hentai

really?

i wanna write legion kinda just to have a line from colossal boy about how they solved the whole Palestine/Israel conflict in (random year)

No subtly here...

>Everything is going to be fine.
>image of half our heroes laid up in medical
Pffft! Although, this does remind me of how insanely durable Resident Evil protagonists are. Played a bit of RE3, and Jill must secretly be a robot, cause she can just take any and all bullshit Nemesis throws at her. Goddamn.

I can't do RE, I'm a jumpscare tender soul

Ever notice how slave trade episodes/issues often serve as an excuse for the artist to draw the female cast members in skimpy slave girl outfits? Just saying.

That's fair.

LOL

Well he should go back to the warp where he belongs. Suffer not the demon to live.

Oh, he's becoming more human, boo. I wanted flesh monstrosity.

Lobo, you useless asshole.

Horror is rarely legitimately good anyway. The fact the monsters are almost invariably invincible honestly cheapens it, because "lol, no you can't just shoot it" is such an obvious and obnoxious story contrivance.

Stuff like Resident Evil, Alien, and Predator work because they ground the monsters to a mostly believable level. There needs to be at least a chance of the heroes being able to win, or else there's no tension.

Nobody ever makes judgemental, kinkshaming comments like these when Vril's shirt gets inexplicably shredded.

Dark Heresy had Scum as a character path, but that's a bit more outlaw-themed then Dox tends to act
