It is a simple and reliable tool for creating dynamics and exposition in action scenes, which is what you need if you are a monkey without talent. So why do they stubbornly refuse to use it when manga shows that it works flawlessly?
Why do comic writers stubbornly refuse to adapt game mechanics for story writing?

What the literal fuck are you talking about?
Power level? Tank,Healer and DPS? Resource management? And if you don't understand what I'll say, congratulations, you're an outdated boomer.
If that's your example, that's an extremely boring thing to make your readers suffer through.
>why don't comics dumb themselves down and use the same language as MMO's for worldbuilding?
Because its a retarded idea and theres enough isekai that already do that?
why would western comic artists use stupid, overly reductive concepts that don't have any sort of unique flavor?
>that's an extremely boring
Of course, this is nothing to compare to a true comics fan, when you can't understand what's going on and everything that happens is meaningless. That is why comics has taken over the world and the biggest manga publishers are going bankrupt. Wait a second, that's not what happened, is it?
Because comic writers don’t play vidya and your mangos don’t even properly adapt that shit either
>m-my slant-eyed korean still-lifes are superior to your filthy white piggu american flip-books! [autistic shrieking intensifies]
>that don't have any sort of unique flavor
>admitting you're too much of a retard to understand capeshit unless its written in MMO dialogue
I don't see the relevance in Captain Marvel to me pointing out you're a moron that wants everything to have the same level of world-building as fucking Sword Art Online.
Because if I wanted to play a video game I'd just play a video game.
You're right if Batman said "Superman you're our tank for this raid on Luthor" then sales would AT LEAST double
This is the dumbest thread in a long time.
I'll even take people whining about big comic tiddies over this.
>I don't want to see the relevance in Captain Marvel
Let me guess - are you a male feminist?
>to have the same level of world-building as fucking Sword Art Online.
First - it was about an action scene, not about world-building. But it is normal for a feminist not to understand letters. Second - world-building form Marvel and DC is the epitome of idiocy, and My Hero Academy with One Punch Man show how to do it right.
For your point to have any merit whatsoever, you're gonna need to give five examples of a Western comic or internet comic that actually takes place in a video game.
Kid Radd and The Noob don't count, but I appreciate you thinking of them.
>being so stupid that literally to rip off game mechanics.
Meanwhile, Wakfu shows you how to do it right. But perhaps this is too difficult to understand for the average writer and comics readers.
OP you are a severely autistic weeaboo and I hope you get the help you so desperately need.
Based
Nigga I haven't even read Cpt. Marvel, but keep grasping at straws you retard.
Here, lemme put it in a language you can understand- your brain is a Tank, and my words are the Dungeon Boss. Clearly, you absorb the "damage" of my words, but being a tank you don't have reliable DPS to disprove me you moron lmao
Why so much angry, boomers? It's not manga's fault that writers are able to adapt to progress when comics writers are stuck in self-replays.
Read Scott Pilgrim and stop bitching
Because thats for games. If you're making a comic about video games that's fine, but otherwise it's not contextually correct and it's arbitrary unless the entire rule set is explained. It is usually used poorly as a asspull mechanic, like "oh no I'm about to die... But I JUST leveled up and get back to full health! " Or "I learned a new skill that will beat the enemy easily!"
It's too clunky. Just make your own rules.
I'm Gen X, actually.
Literally a dnd campaign that went right right.
>t-the only people that don't understand how INTELLIGENT and SUBTLE and DEEP utilizing the same reductive phrasing as my video games are BOOMERS JUST LIKE MY DAD
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>Superman is fighting Mongul
>ahhh Superman’s dps is too much for me I better get a health pack
>punisher is doing punisher shit
>ahh I’m running out of ammo I better get the speed reload power up
>I’ve been shot I better hide under cover for 30 seconds so my health bar goes back up
Jesus Christ you are fucking stupid
>resource management from the battle royal / shooter needs explanation
>to show readers the importance of correct positioning in a shootout is impossible
>a simple real-life scorecard system is a asspull mechanic
Ok, boomer.
yeah, i'm afraid it might be about time we started handling isekai dipshits the same way we dealt with the pony creeps.
>The golden age is the vanilla game, while the silver age, bronze age and dark age are just major game expansions
Says a person who takes everything literally and does not understand the difference between concept and implementation. Also ignores the examples.
What were you expecting the response was going to be when you started this thread? Serious question.
Is all this crying in the thread a confirmation that the main consumers of comics are autistic people? I cannot imagine any other explanation for such a reaction to the possibility of change.
>>resource management from the battle royal / shooter needs explanation
Why do you think everyone reading comics overlaps with the same people that would play battle royal games?
Why do we need to frame everything under the guise of imitation of video games?
>>to show readers the importance of correct positioning in a shootout is impossible
Why do I need an explanation on why this retard is hiding behind a fucking wall to not get shot? Why does the needless explanation need to be phrased like a fucking progamer tip?
>>a simple real-life scorecard system is a asspull mechanic
How is imitating a fucking game scoreboard real life or not a complete asspull?
>Ok, boomer.
Fucking zoomer being literally incapable of reading anything deeper than a fucking gamefaqs kek
>>I’ve been shot I better hide under cover for 30 seconds so my health bar goes back up
Literally a Wolverine if you make his power less bullshit.
You can convey limitations/rules for a setting without using literal video game mechanics. Shonen anime/manga is obsessed with explaining things because "Here's how it works. Wait he's doing -- but that's impossible!!!" is a staple of the genre and they started using mmo language for it because the people making shonen anime and manga know they're not making high art so why bother putting thought into it.
You don't see this shit in anything in japan that's not a powerlevel jerkoff show, dude.
>WOW YOU DON'T WANT COMICS TO BE THE SAME AS MY SWORD ART ONLINE MANGOS WOW DUDES WOW IM LITERALLY SHAKING YOU GUYS MUST BE AUTISTIC NOT ME
>being so butthurt nobody wants to imitate your shitty videogame isekais you do nothing but autistically shriek
Stay mad, zoomer
I literally do not understand what OP is talking about
>comic mistakenly believes that berserker pack runs out
>actually the color overlay just goes away but the damage boost to melee is maintained for the entire level
A gaming experience is not the same as a narrative reading experience.
>Why do you think everyone reading comics overlaps with the same people that would play battle royal games?
youtube.com
>Why do we need to frame everything under the guise of imitation of video games?
Can you understand the difference between adapting ideas and literally copying?
>Why do I need an explanation on why this retard is hiding behind a fucking wall to not get shot? Why does the needless explanation need to be phrased like a fucking progamer tip?
You're totally okay with the shootout being just a series of random images, I get it. Unfortunately, as the state of the comics industry shows today, such as you are a minority and most people prefer to understand what the hell is going on.
>How is imitating a fucking game scoreboard real life or not a complete asspull?
Tests that show how fast you can run or how many pounds you can lift is a complete asspull. Okay, I understand your condition.
>anything deeper than a fucking gamefaqs kek
You know, when plots in games are better than plots than in comics it should be a shame for comics. Especially if the games are based on comics, but as long as you exist we will continue to have "internet gas" instead of story.
To be fair, everyone believed that. For years and years.
Shit, really?
Is that stemming from a programming error or just weird design?
I wish it were true, but shit like Call of Duty and Witcher have over taken industry for a decade.
Nice, I miss when I had this brevity of wit, I've honestly got to step up my game.
>BAD CAPE COMICS EXIST YOU GOT PWND DUMB SJW
>tabletop=vidya
If the comic takes place in a video game I guess, but why would a comic about anything else should have game mechanics?
>youtube.com
So you admit only retards play battle royale games and the only people that like deadpool are also ALWAYS the same that play battle royales?
I know you have a thing to reducing concepts down to meaningless bullshit but c'mon.
>Can you understand the difference between adapting ideas and literally copying?
Can you? Your entire thread is based off of whining that western comics aren't the same as your shitty eastern ones.
>You're totally okay with the shootout being just a series of random images, I get it. Unfortunately, as the state of the comics industry shows today, such as you are a minority and most people prefer to understand what the hell is going on.
I mean, you are indeed proof that the average comic reader is a complete idiot that can barely parse a page. Not my fault you and other like-minded simpletons need everything explained to you in fine details, or relayed to you in MMO dialogue trees.
>Tests that show how fast you can run or how many pounds you can lift is a complete asspull. Okay, I understand your condition.
Except video games don't fucking do that, and whats the point in giving out a fucking spreadsheet on what Superman's exact capabilities are when its ALWAYS wholly irrelevant to the story outside of autistic power-level grognarding that idiots like you love to obsess over because you feel intelligent for being able to memorize made-up trivia?
>You know, when plots in games are better than plots than in comics it should be a shame for comics. Especially if the games are based on comics, but as long as you exist we will continue to have "internet gas" instead of story.
Read a fucking actual book nigga if you want actual stories with depth instead of this idiotic bullshit of wanting every single piece of media to conform to the same rules as videogame isekais since you're clearly too stupid to relate to complex concepts unless its reduced to a fucking video game.
Just look at the autistic hysteria. We all know that if you're a fan of American comics it automatically means that you're retrograde who not able to enjoy with anything new, cartoons and European comics are another case.
>Power level?
You mean that abstract mechanic that puts an arbitrary number to your stats so people who couldn't pass 2nd grade math can understand how strong they are without knowing the individual factors?
>Read a fucking actual book nigga
Comic book fan to said it.
Wakfu is a videogame, of course it has videogame mechanics.
Better yet, why dosent they be all like the memes? Deadass, Superman should be all like,"Your jimmies Rustled, Lex? Cause you gonna REEE all the way to the sun when i yeet yo ass".
I don't read comics. I spend all my time on games like Warframe, Total Warhammer, Darkest Dungeon, Doom II, Jump Raven, and Oxygen Notr Included. I just think you're a fucking idiot.
>This thread
How are you all so dense. He's not saying to use MMO terminology, he's saying that capeshit fights are boring because capeshit writers and artists don't know how to conceptualize fights. He's suggesting that they use a systematized method for laying out how fights progress as a framework for building more interesting confrontations.
This makes sense, it's basically just lifting someone else's tactical schema so you don't have to worry about making your own and can focus on other shit.
Because it's a fan? Oh, I forget that a fan is forbidden in comics and authors have to shits on in order for his comics to be printed.
Then why is he citing the most cancerous aspect of the most cancerous genres of anime genres as some gold standard?
You are being utterly ridiculous about this. Levels and stats give you a sense of power level, yes, but everything else is unnecessary.
Yeah the numbers make all the difference. Remeber how Deff Skwadron was so popular because it relegated everything to movement and shooting phases?
>oh no he posted a page from a terrible comic that meand ALL western comics are like this
My dude, you're clearly a butthurt autist that is literally seething nobody is buying your stupid fanfiction-tier idea that the western comic industry should be consistently retarded instead of inconsistently retarded.
But keep posting your "Yas Forums rage folder" and keep REE'ing.
There is no video game, manga, or comic that has ever matched the level of depth constructive literature has reached, and being a fan of both, i accept this, and feel secure in myself to admit i read comics not as half-assed exploration of concepts that cannot be handled with any sort of nuance they deserve by mentally ill people in spandex, but because its fucking bubblegum fiction nigga. same reason i play games- to shoot things and whatnot.
unlike you im secure and well-rounded enough to be able to engage with more sublte and multi-faceted concepts without the need for them to be filtered through a fucking video game context lmao
>He's suggesting that they use a systematized method for laying out how fights progress as a framework for building more interesting confrontations.
Then why give the worst example of that? MMO and isekai shit are terrible. Should have just used something like Hunter x Hunter if he wanted to show how it's done well
levels and stats are meaningless to actual well conveyed narratives and imagery.
If you have to tie the meaning of your 50th Maddog McFisticuffs fight with Dark Overlord to an arbitrary set of statistics and contrived narrative devices, congratulations, its still fucking meaningless even if you explicitly tell the audience it somehow means SOMETHING this time just because the numbers are supposed to be different.
stop trying to solve shit writing with even worse writing.
.... And ... this .... would make the comics stories .... better?
>most cancerous aspect of the most cancerous genres
As I suspected Marvelcuck do not read the classics.
>ALL western comics are like this
Actually, everything is much worse youtube.com
