So much for comic books coming by mail or packages. What the fuck?!
RIP Comics!!!!
>phoneposting some shitty headline screencap about something barely on-topic that "could" happen in 2 months
>NOOOOO NOT THE HECKIN POSTERINOS

Good, there's zero reason for the USPS to exist.
Ok brainlet
Fuck off retard
Mail boxlet.
Get me Kevin Costner!
Ok brainlet
I meant to post to the other fag sorry
Explain why we need USPS.
You idiot. People get and pay their freakin bills through mail.
Amazon will deliver mail and packages and comic books by drones that go brrrrrrrrrr.
This, anybody saying otherwise are children who don't have their living space.
why would the post office shut down there's more mail than ever
>that headline
Can we resurrect Lysander Spooner?
HAHAHAHHAHAHA! OH MY GOD FUCK YES! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YEARS FOR THIS SHITTY FUCKING INDUSTRY TO DIE! FUCK OFF COMIC-KEKS, YOU GET WHAT YOU FUCKING DESERVE! HAHHAHAHAHA! GO READ MANGA LIKE A REAL MAN!
Amazon has throttled a lot of their FBA inventory to put priority on shipping essential products.
Manual sellers using FedEx or USPS are shipping their products out to the customer faster right now.
Government money saving,
Seriously they don't give a fuck about pay workers in general.
>basedjack
And? The private sector can deliver mail just fine.
Why does the government need to handle it?
>Government money saving
USPS doesn't get a dime from the government ever since the mailmen unionized and nixon decided to give a middle finger to them for doing so.
another scam to raise the stamp 2 more cents
Rip comics? Try rip USA. Maybe you're not realizing but your retarded government is killing the country, thanks to Trump's titanic incompetence.
yeah, but it would end up costing a lot more than it does now, and you'd have a whole pile of horseshit between competing mail companies that would end up like the cable companies are now
Additional money to prices are raised due to the private sector dude.
Fuck off back to Yas Forums, weebfag.
You realise that was a straight up troll bait?
Benjamin Franklin
>your retarded government is killing the country, thanks to Trump's titanic incompetence.
Last time I checked my government wasn't burning dead bodies in the street, you dumb south american
>>it would cost more
This is a stupid mindset. Private companies are incentivized to provide a better service at a price people are willing to pay. The USPS operates at a loss and is notorious for being inefficient.
Not true.
???
If the postal service goes down my last concern is fucking comics
He was the one that started the US postal service
No it won't. /thread
Honestly I thought that was stupid and kinda defeated the point of the quarantine. Comics are non-essentials.
But then again a lot of LCS are desperate for revenue I guess. A lot of them are already closing down.
So?
>UPS
>FedEx
>DHL
>Not being a pirate.
Fags.
>
Good, you mutts get what you deserve.
Aren't private companies compelled to generate profit, in turn creating a gap between the cost of the service and the price paid by customers?
>Shitting down the postal service
Are they actually retarded?
>taxes extended to June 15
>post offices close
>people cant file taxes
GG America
>public service
>shut down
What kind of shithole is america anyway?
Can't you file your taxes through a government webside?
Yes, that is how business works. Private companies also have to compete for business, whereas the government does not.
Yes
They might as well be. There are trucks in NYC full of dead bodies that they don't know how to deal with.
it's illegal to lock public operations behind a paying, private system.

There's no guarantee of competition just because something is private, look at Diamond for instance.
A situation where there is competition among for-profit operators just means that there will be a cheapest solution that still has a profit premium attached. Competition usually involves product differentiation, with often-touted capitalistic successes such as the iPhone or Facebook succeeding over Blackberry and MySpace because they offered a better and different product. It is my view that such dimensions don't exist to nearly the same degree with mail, which has already been made obsolete in many ways due to email.
A fragmented and competing market may also mean a loss of efficiencies of scale, and there are also costs associated with competition like advertising which are further passed on to the consumer.
There is no reason for the government to handle the mail. Simple as that.
So what your telling me is that this is going to hurt comicsgate
They're required by law to fund pension plans decades beyond what any private company does while receiving no money from the Federal Government to pay for it.
They're too efficient at what they do for private corporations to ever compete with them on an even playing field.
There is unless they also cut taxes and any sort of paperwork administration entirely.
And I see no reason why an essential public service should be beholden to private interests, which as I outlined above offer no promise of superiority and in fact may burden the public by their private nature.
Get fucked, big 2 tards
You know this impacts smaller publishers and independent creators too right? There's more going on here than two vestigial idea mills of colossal media conglomerates.
Shoes are essential, should that be handled by government? Are shoes crazy expensive because of private interests?
And your reasoning is flawed. Competition brings costs down. Shipping costs for packages are reasonable, because you can choose who to go through. Companies like UPS and FedEx are already well known and wouldn't have to shift advertising costs to the consumer. And UPS (FedEx possibly, but I didn't work there so I don't know) already helps the USPS with shipping mail, because they operate at a loss and can't afford to themselves.
Yes, and? Sacrifices have to be made to kill off Marvel and DC once and for all
Man, if shit's still this way by june the US economy will crash and burn. It wasn't meant to handle this kind of situation.
The actual reason is because at the time the only way to even remotely hold the delivery of information between parties, particularly sensitive shit like bills and maybe revolutionary somethingorother, was to have the government act as a third party with legislation set in stone for fucking with the mail. Also it's an important enough thing to be a public service to the citizenry. The government (at least ideally) has rules it's got to follow with handling your mail, if you want to outsource it to Facebook, you'll basically have no means of communicating with someone at distance that isn't (legally) scoured over and archived by some corporate entity to sell you shit or blackmail you.
Yas Forums, where we hate comics
It can still be illegal to look at mail.
I remember hearing some conspiracy that they were looking to sell off the USPS to I think Amazon since it wasn't turning a profit, but the real reason was so that those who sold it off would get tokeep all the dosh from those pension savings requirements without ever paying them out (because yeah the Post Office had to fund pension plans some absolutely absurd amount of years ahead of time)
You imply everywhere will have competition when in reality you'd have regional mail carriers just like ISPs because no single company possesses the logistics to handle the mail for everyone like the USPS.
Enjoy your $2 stamps on snail mail letters because your local Mail Service Provider was the only good ol' boy that could afford a private airstrip in your neck of nebraska.
In my experience, UPS and FedEx both suck compared to the USPS. I've had ten times as many packages not make it to me through those two than the Post Office and I've probably had a hundred times as much stuff come through the latter.
Rates are low because those organizations can't possibly compete with the Post Office in terms of quality of service; if that quality goes away, there's no real reason for those rates not to go up.
Sure it can, but Facebook isn't going to bother have its own Postal Inspectors to ever investigate if it is.
I think the average pension is funded for something like seventy-five years even if they expect to only have to pay forty years of it out.
