I'm not even the most charismatic guy but I've had a couple instances where I'd just latch on to one dude or group that weren't assholes, be on their team during a drinking game or some shit and just have a great time with some new people.
the only time that really backfired on me was at one party I was with this group that came with this chill dude that I was talking about berserk with- but one of his buddies brought a fucking 16 year old girl to the party and was making out with her all night and it skeeved everyone out- almost got us all kicked out (even though I wasn't even technically with them) towards the end of the night when she was blacked out and he was gunning to reserve the empty room with her. that was a hard nope from everyone involved.
