and how is that flawed, the only time the show commented on it Iroh said he wasn't sure if he could beat him. you got to remember that Ozai is like 20 years younger and probably values violence/power more than Iroh. it isn't arguable that Ozai had a better performance under the influence of the Comet, zipping around and such.

I feel like Ozai and Jeong Jeong are overrated. Ozai is incredibly powerful but lacks combat experience. Jeong Jeong, on the contrary, is very skilled fighter but probably doesn't have as much natural talent as royal family.
So I'd rate: Iroh>Ozai>Azula>Jeong Jeong>Zuko
Azula has the potential to become the strongest but she will need at least another decade of training.

At the end of the day, however old Iroh is, he still broke out of jail without needing firebending--that should make any argument about physical strength moot

well yeah but it at least gives the impression that they're around the same level and not that Iroh would smoke Ozai. Iroh's the only White Lotus member that didn't spring into action, we never actually see Iroh be too agile like Azula jumping all over the place he seems more of a stand-his-ground sort of smart fighter. I actually think saying he could be as agile as Ozai and could zip around like he did is a bit generous.
who really knows how the compare but honestly based off what we saw, and perhaps my own bias on what I think would be more suitable for the setting that the Fire Lord is top dog, I do want to say Ozai would have the edge in pure firebending combat if mostly because he's more in his prime. but really the only reason I leaned more towards Iroh in my first comment is because he can redirect lightning, Ozai on the other hand doesn't have an answer for Iroh's generated lightning except by being light on his feet.

We've seen repeatedly that Iroh, as an old man, has taken down an entire prison filled with people younger than him
We've also never seen how Ozai fights outside of the comet's powers--the only time we see him bend he shoots lightning at Zuko who instantly redirects it
Also, Bumi's 100 years old and he's agile as fuck. Age has nothing to do with it, being agile doesn't have anything to do with it. We've seen more of Iroh's skill and Iroh has a much deeper understanding of firebending than Ozai

This is based off these five at the end of the story. And the raw strength specifically is based on their time in the comet. And from this alone its clear Iroh is the overall most powerful firebender in the story with Azula a close second and Ozai a close third.
If we were to look at Azula and Iroh in their prime, Azula is stronger. Iroh had less knowledge in his prime, he clearly wasn't the same person back then than he is throughout the show. Azula on the other hand is age 14 and already a top 3 firebender in the world, arguably ahead of her own father.

Zuko was fighting really well, give him some props. I do agree with anons that we shouldn't be so quick to say normally Azula was still way stronger than Zuko and don't agree unhinged Azula was such an easy harmless foe to defeat. I still think it's a safer bet to say Azula's stronger but perhaps the gap isn't so big Azula was already starting to lose it in The Southern Raiders but she wasn't full-on nutjob at that point and they were pretty even there.

I think what a lot of people forget is that Azula doesn't really have much practical experience fighting foes on her level. She's a firebending prodigy and really good at what she does, but she's also only in the field for a couple of months at most, mostly fights mooks, and only occasionally fights without Mai and Ty Lee. What a lot of people forget about Zuko is that he's not a terrible firebender, he's just not as good a one as his sister. He's consistently shown to be good at firebending and a skilled fighter in general. That's one of the thematic point of the Agni Kai in the finale, that Azula isn't superior to her brother., which is also why the fight is choreographed for their actions to mirror each other and also why Zuko doesn't win the fight.
