>DC: Donates money to bookstores and LCSs in this time of need >Marvel: "AAAAAHHH ROBERT DOWNEY JR PLEASE GIVE US MONEY AAAAAAHHHHH!" Wasn't DC supposed to be the one going under any minute now? Wasn't Marvel supposed to have all the money in the world, first of Forbes 500, the most successful company of all time?
How come DC has money to donate, while Marvel is begging for money?
I think DC is doing worse but it’s parent company has more financial security during this time of need
Brody Russell
Donny Cates is not Marvel
David Reed
Fuck DC, they're going under. Marvel is going to live past this pandemic.
David Long
Because DC is owned by AT&T, a company with money to rival that of Disney but unlike them are an essential business during this crisis. Disney is suffering right now because their parks are closed, and they can't afford to hand out money like that
Ryder King
>Marvel is going to live past this pandemic. Yeah, if Chris Evans feels like donating.
Anthony Martinez
I hope both of them die, so something better or atleast different can rise from the ashes.
James Phillips
you do know that if the big 2 die then the comics industry dies with them right?
Thomas Watson
I assume the Marvel(movies) and Marvel(comics) are completely separated from any financial standpoint, only copyright is shared. Thus no matter how rich Marvel got with the movies, they would never use that money to keep the comics afloat.
Grayson Flores
There really aren't adults anymore
Mason Brown
Marvel will live. Suck dick, indiean.
Jayden Baker
Leah "Marvel Mommy" Williams personally collected information on comic shops still running that are doing curbside pickup, compiled all the info and paid for a website to be made to host it to help keep things going.
they can always just sell their ip to free lancers who want to use the characters in webcomcis or some shit. Like GW does with their ip and video games.
Ryan Garcia
I just bought a 150$ gift card to my LCS despite them being closed to support them right now
Now is there a website where she can lead me to the safety between those sweet sweet mammaries where we can make sweet sweet memories?
Jayden Evans
DC's publishing is almost certainly coming to an end within 5 years, yes. They don't have the audience figures to maintain 100 publications/month without significantly cutting costs.
Yes, DC Entertainment will almost certainly continue for many decades to come in some form or another. Print, however, is going to shift to reprint only.
The better question to be asking is, even though $250,000 is a lot of money - about 4x the average US household income - how many people is it helping? What help is it giving them individually? What are the administration costs of the charity receiving that money, and who, exactly, is it paying out to?
Ironically, much of that money probably comes ultimately from tickets sold for Birds of Prey - because that's how cashflow works. Sure doesn't seem like OP is going to want to hear that, though.
Elijah Ramirez
Nobody should still be running. Nobody. If you're not emergency services or groceries or essential maintenance like electric, water etc then you should be locked down. Nobody should still be running. If you are trying to help people keep running then you are helping keep the transmission of this virus going. No customer base is so valuable or so helpful that you killing it with disease or it killing you with disease is worth it. Lock down.
Josiah Baker
That's an over estimation, she's probably like 190ish.
>They don't have the audience figures to maintain 100 publications/month without significantly cutting costs. DC publishes around 60 books per month, though, and their operational costs is at 10 million/year, which they make back on bookscan alone.
I have never heard of a company that is consistently lucrative yet somehow it's "about to go under". You sure it isn't of Marvelfag heart wishing them to go under, rather than any evidence you have?
Juan Martin
Her Gwenpool and Mary Jane books were good
Daniel Roberts
In places where infection rates are high enough to necessitate that level of precaution, yes.
Nathaniel Thompson
I want to drink her milk, I want to cuddle with her, I want her to hug me, I want Mommy Leah, I need mommy Leah in my life I want to live with mommy forever feeling her warm hugs every day, she looks so warm and comfy like a real mommy, I want to marry her
>then the comics industry dies with them right? No it will not
Jayden Walker
Excuse me that’s my future wife you’re talking about, you can marry her AFTER she suffocates me in her heaving bosom
Ryder Jackson
And in places you _don't_want_ to _reach_ high infection rates. Not following the recommendations is a great way to _get_ a community to high infection rates.
Hudson Cook
Yeah, she has a great body of work.
Austin Wilson
Is this enough of a peace offering to LCS to cleanse DC of their hang ups about just continuing digitally, or are they going to keep being cucks and hold off until physical can be distributed again? Because the only thing I care about is new comics being released again.
Even if they shut down production in house they'll license some publisher the rights to make new material.
Matthew Ross
Donny is still at the bargaining stage but instead of bargaining with comic book buyers he goes to celebrities
well you need to remember one simple thing, comics aren't for us and were never for us. we just need to continue buying comics that insult the people that buy them
Kayden Richardson
A better equivalent shitpost is Synder = DC
And somehow Donny is still better than Synder, god someone kick Synder out AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Jaxson Reyes
Based retard

Marvel is owned by Disney and Disney is ran by 200 cocaine-addicts who pray to the Dow Jones before bed every night
>Ironically, much of that money probably comes ultimately from tickets sold for Birds of Prey - because that's how cashflow works. Sure doesn't seem like OP is going to want to hear that, though. what your point retard?
Aiden Baker
>you do know that if the big 2 die then the comics industry dies with them right? Sure feels good to be a webcomic chad.
DC donates the bare minimum to shut up LCS that bitched about them wanting to go digital. Marvel is begging for money out of laziness and wanting to sound like they’re “for the people” by putting the bigger industry on the spot. Both of them could manage to give more, but they won’t. Marvel and DC are going to be fine. LCS aren’t. Hell, wouldn’t surprise me if both Marvel and DC want LCS to die so they can finally start putting their shit elsewhere without these fucking faggots keeping the industry from growing. The only fucking reason comic books aren’t bigger is because the comic book industry has had to keep LCS from dying. Like China with North Korea, they’re forced to keep these fuckers on life support, because they’re too entitled, lazy and stupid to keep themselves afloat. Fuck LCS. I buy digital and trades anyway. LCS only sell overpriced issues mostly aimed at collectors who think they’ll be able to sell Spider-Man #fuckitwhigivesafuck and it’s bazillion variant covers for a thousand bucks on eBay. Fuck all of them for stagnating the industry.
Lucas Howard
>it's the LCS that are to blame going digital won't work if no one wants to buy your comics pencils down
Lincoln Walker
Who is going to tell Tommy that Cates is not Marvel spokesman and he is still a cuck?
James Lopez
Disney is in big shit and can't recover, that's what Marvel gets for selling out to the mouse.
Michael Watson
LCS are the ones who bitched about digital, who bitched about DC’s Wal-Mart books and who constantly complain about shit that would make the industry better just because they’re lazy, entitled and most didn’t learn a damn thing from the 90s. Fuck them. What the fuck is pencils down?
DC is giving a tip to LCS to keep them quiet after they said they were going to release digitally when the stores had already gave them money for their books, so they had to backpaddle like a bunch of retards. Not that charity will make DC's garbage any better.
Samuel Smith
Comics won't sell at Wal-Mart or digitally because no one wants them >What the fuck is pencils down? people who work in the industry being told to put their pencils down, kind of like getting fired or let go.
Image, Dark Horse, IDW... Various Eurocomics. People coming up with new ideas by themselves instead of recycling the same IPs forever.
Cooper Johnson
damn that outdated meme shamed me so hard, I never wan't to say pencils down ever again. You sure showed me the error and logical fallacy with my posts, well done sir.
The big 2 will ALWAYS have some form of new comics in print. They just won't have hundreds of titles. Even if they lose money it's valuable marketing.
Indies on the ropes like IDW could go either way but they're probably doomed. Smaller imprints and crowdfunding is probably the future outside of the big 2.

AT&T makes money off selling internet and other various essential services. Disney lost a major portion of it's income because they had to close down their parks. Of course DC was going to be fine.
Blake Wood
People will always feel the need to express stories through imagery.
The industry will die, the medium won’t and that’s a good thing.
Camden Anderson
Excuse me, but that's the woman that I'm nailing while you're raising our kids. She can asphyxiate you to death AFTER I finish breaking her hip.
Landon Green
It is called falling with grace, OP. DC is doing bad, but they can face the end with pride and no regrets unlike Marvel.
>Because DC is owned by AT&T, a company with money to rival that of Disney but unlike them are an essential business during this crisis ATT could buy Disney regardless if it wouldn't be be blocked by the FCC.
