Yes because Peter Parker is a character built on the premise of responsibility/self-sacrifice and this shit makes him a selfish asshole for the sake of status quo

I know it's "Zoomers Cartoon creator" style copypaste but.
It did ruin the character for over a decade so Yes.

>Peter Parker made a deal with a devil and that's a good thing
Literally the only thing worse to happen to comicbooks sales since then is corona-chan.

Yes, go fuck yourself.

Yes, and I don't believe Quesada got enough flak for this. The kind of reaction that Secret Empire got? That should've been for this.

Quesada got a HUGE amount of shit for this

Looking back, did this really warrant all the outrage?

>Hey let's make them Peters kids
>FUCK NO WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING EVEN COMIC BOOK TIME WOULD BE FUCKED IF WE GAVE HIM 20 YEAR OLD KIDS
>Ok ok I can fix this
>Oh are you going to make them clones with Goblin serum in them or...?
>Oh no I'm going to make them Norman and Gwens love children
Quesada may have been a dick at time but JMS was taking the piss

If he did, they would've gotten rid of it or legitimately fixed it within five years. They did a fake-fix, and did nothing.

Hydra Cap was never going to be permanent; Quesada and the editorial team at the time were COMMITED TO OMD and BND.
To this day you can find people that dropped Spider-Man because of OMD and the overwhelming majority of readers weren't ok with undoing 20-30 years if character development because some fat fuck had a midlife crisis

Yes,That's why it's regarded the way it is
It's the rare case where the bad thing is actually as bad as people say

Felicia is objectively the eternal best woman in Peter life so that's that

She ain't and Slott fucked her extra hard.

Yes

For decades Spider-Man was the shining example of the illusion of progression in comic books

He'd graduated high school and college, had a wealth of meaningful relationships, made true friends, lost true friends, gotten married, had a little bit of success but not much

The clone saga put a bullet in the leg of that progression but this outright killed it

Slott = legit irl cuckold

>Hydra Cap was never going to be permanent

It was or at the very least Falcap was going to be the permanent Captain America

No, that was hot.

If you read ASM past V1 #350, you got what you deserved.

Keep telling yourself that

Someone post the ME3 ending copypasta to illustrate the similar rage

Still angry

They peaked with Dragon Age Origins.

Yup

It literally ruined Spider-Man character beyound repair and made Marvel as a whole far worse.

Comic fans get unreasonably mad about a great many things.

This is not one of those things.

Yes. Holy fuck yes. This shit still hasn't even been retconned yet, has it? It's one of the biggest blights upon Spider-Man that has ever existed.

Comicslet here, someone redpill me on OMD, what did it fuck up?

Well the real fuck up happened before.

In civil war spidey sides with iron man and outs his identity.

This sucks for many reasons, but anyway it needed to be undone.

Also quesada didnt want pete married or something.

So an assassin is hired to kill aunt may. She gets got. Pete makes a deal with mephisto to save his aunt but it costs him his

DUN DUN DUUUUUU

marriage to mj

But now everyone has magically forgotten who spiderman is even though they knew who he was. This is... as dumb as it sounds.

And by "knew who he was" I mean they remember the face reveal, but just cant remember his face.

Spider-Man's books took a permanent, and gigantic, hit to sales that they never recovered from with OMD. It's not unfair to say that Spider-Man as a comic book has been permanently crippled by Quesada.

Was this supposed to be a parody, or was Millar so fucked in the head he didn't see how batshit crazy Wasp sounded

I think the reveal never happened now and it’s just that he sided with tony initially and joined cap earlier. Honestly those old marvel mini stories had a better explanation where it’s just “spidey remaske” “we don’t know who he is anymore”

There was an interview with one of spideys editors at the time who said that they let the reveal happen because OMD was already in the works but that honestly makes me hate it more because it means that a year of multiple writers editors and artists all coming together still couldn’t come up with a better story than “he sells his marriage to the devil” does anyone else here just wish that they just let MJ and Pete divorce? It would’ve been sooooooo much better

>In civil war spidey sides with iron man and outs his identity.
This was in no way a fuckup and should never have been undone.

Honestly, hard disagree. Pete works better with a secret identity unless you are ready to seriously make some.decades long status quo changes.

And even if they were ready for that, civil war wasnt the way to do it. That event was pretty bad on its own.

It was such a huge fuckup that the only reason why it was done, was because OMD was already planned.

This.

The thing is registration act is only require you to reveal your identity to SHIELD and government but instead Tony tricked Peter to revealed his identity to the public just publicity stunt.

Didn't Jeph Loeb write this shit? I know the dude hasn't been the same since the loss of his son but the guy kept getting brought on.

I always get mixed up on who wrote what failure of the Ultimates, it may well have been.

The latter.

The fact that it was a PR move is probably the worst part of it all.
Peter sold out his personal life and the relative safety of his loved ones for a boost in popularity for a side that he didn't even stay with until the end of the godamned event.

Yes. It threw out the window the whole responsibility stuff, cancelled Peter's marriage and don't make me started with how mad am I that he also SOLD THE SOUL OF HIS FUTURE DAUGHTER.

YES. Basically fucked Peter's character and basically replaced it with a interpretation of the character I absolutely despise. Responsibility has always been central to Peter's character he was basically forced to become an adult when Ben died. To replace it with a immature Peter who is driven primarily by guilt who would shirk his responsibilities in order to ease his guilty conscience. That isn't Spider-man to me, that is a reductive caricature of Spider-man.

It warranted different outrage than it got, because it remains extremely poorly understood.
As you can see from

But it is an extremely poorly written story that makes a change to a beloved character in a way that just doesn't make any fucking sense.

It's worth noting that years before they had considered using a time loop as the solution to the Clone Saga- Ben and Peter would have always been the same person- but one of the reasons they rejected it was because it was too outlandish to have Mephisto do it when Spidey's world revolves around comparatively mundane people and concepts.

He didn't.

Jesus Christ.

The daughter was Mephisto.

HE
DIDN'T
SELL
THE
SOUL
OF
HIS
DAUGHTER

I swear to fucking God, as soon as the quarantine ends and I return home the first thing that I'm doing is storytiming OMD and OMIT

Is still ruined.

Don't bother.

It was never in the text, it's unambiguously not in the text, Mephisto explicitly denies he's after souls. And he is a liar, but if he takes things he explicitly denies being after and explicitly doesn't bargain for, then he's a thief, and Peter wouldn't be responsible for it.
This is literally the most basic logic possible, and yet this post (and yours) will get angry responses about how wrong they are.

The truthers still believe the lies they've told themselves. The truth can't help them.

>Pete works better with a secret identity unless you are ready to seriously make some.decades long status quo changes.
That was the entire fucking point. Pete's grown up, got married, started working a real job, is playing in the costumed big leagues - he has new responsibilities. He reveals his identity to support a side he thinks he believes in, supporting a man he thinks he looks up to, and it all bites him in the ass. He's taken advantage of and the people he loves could die. And he's responsible for it.

Peter is a character that deserves to grow up after 45 years of continuity. Undermining his whole fundamental concept of taking responsibility - not just for yourself, but for the people you care about and the people around you - for the sake of resetting back to the status quo, to tell another 13 years (and counting) of the same damn stories over and over again in the most cop-out way possible is not just character assassination, it's brand assassination.

The what if for back in black is where the story should’ve gone, “I’m registered and had to decide between letting my aunt die or killing an enemy” it would’ve been an interesting implementation of the registration act

>And he's responsible for it.
You'd think that the guy who every single bad guy in NY wants dead would use those two braincells that he has to figure out why that is a TERRIBLE idea.
You know what? Let's ignore all of that and instead just take into consideration that Peter's arch-fucking-nemesis is Norman fucking Osborn, just that should be a good reminder of what happens when crazies figure out who you are.

SERIOUSLY

norman osborn is like the poster child for super fucked yo vendetta arches!

YES! As a matter of fact the crisis we have here is the direct result of that. Fuck quesada the fat fuck

Not enough. Should be whipped like the dog that he is

Frankly the only big two property that changed the most and permanently are the X-Men, which is funny considering how their core theme never really changed to the point of absurdity

I wonder what stan really thought of this

Clone saga is fun when you re-read it in one sitting. Clone Saga wasn't fun when it was published because it was an overlong story in vein of bold and beautiful. But I can defend clone saga, I cannot defend OMD

The only truth is that you are a cocksucking faggot. Fuck omd

This shitty bait get this many this many replies. Pathetic

People are bored. We have to wait until the meme virus ends and people stop losing the shit over a scam

Source. I want to see a greater drop off in that particular year than any other year since Clone Saga. Gimme a graph nigga
