It isn't funny, like you said as absurdist. But it made me chuckle a few times, the character designs and how they feel human work hand and hand with each other and I guess that's what made me laugh the most. Charlie I enjoyed the most for being, human.

Rick and Morty is has been consistently "not really funny" for years now. This one cracked me up many times over the course of the pilot, and on top of that, it had actual creative mixing of animation styles, so it had something more going on besides just humor.

I fucking love the absurd multi-media approach this show has. It's like a visual buffet of insane shit

There was hardly a plot to it, but it was thoroughly entertaining. The one guy who was rotoscoped for no reason was great. This gave me an “early adult swim” feeling that I couldn’t really describe. Watching it made me feel the same way that watching Aqua Teen for the first time felt. This had all the absurdity I want from Adult Swim without all of the terrible Family-Guy comedy and unappealing Mr Pickles art. The characters managed to be appealing AND twisted.

The "precious cheese" and "Dave World" shit was extreme cringe.

It surprisingly wasn't. They played it so straight that it didn't come off as "lol so random". It just came off as an absurd reality which is why it works. It just works

Has anybody pointed out the kinda cleverness in the scene where their boss asks them if they don't mind watching someone eat?
It sets itself up like you think the boss guy is going to eat the baby or something weird like that.
But no, he ends up breast feeding the little baby creature.
Now, unless you've seen that gremblo art show video, which that scene is inspired by, you wouldn't know better.
I just think that's kinda clever and it hasn't been pointed out is all.

i think if they would have acknowledge dave world past the "whos dave?" lines it would have been cringe but dave kinda looks like zach from that one panel everyone memes

I like Smiling Friends. It felt like I was watching an early Adult Swim cartoon.

It's not just 'lol funny' it's showing that Pim has been blind to the negatives of his life otherwise he would've already cracked and lost his shining optimism growing up in the home he did. All it took was looking into a mirror- someone having the same thoughts he's been hiding in the back of his subconscious. Also, i'm reading too much into it and it's just a funny little cartoon with no intense emphasis on storytelling or developing characters so stop being a faggot

Pink guy's Ego got destroyed when he realized how miserable his life his and how hes been numbing his subconscious sufferings. When he took desmond to daveland in order to get a cheap win, desmond retorted how his method is a sham and he didn't really helped desmond.

Desmond gained a purpose, but pink guy lost his own sense of purpose.

anyway, decent cartoon. rotoscoped guy was fun, mike stoklasa was neat, the end was good. standard left of field humour and neat animation. newgrounds and sickanimation people.
a gentle thumbs up and soft recommendation to a handful of friends.
