She's a fully-formed character, as much as Kirby and Dedede are. The storytelling of the Shimomura games was simple and minimalist, but the characters had a lot of personality and charm.

Adeleine is naturally a people person, she easily made good friends with everyone after DL3, including both Kirby and Dedede, and celebrated them all by drawing their likeness. Adeleine is a frail girl that likes to draw and paint. She can't handle getting attacked and she's notably frightened by surprises in Kirby 64. Her style of problem solving is thoughtful, opposed to the other characters that are more action-oriented. If you completely tune out the games she's from it's easy to say she's not a character, but when you're looking at the source material, you can plainly see that effort was put into developing all those characters.
