>Peyton Reed, who directed the previous two installments, 2015’s Ant-Man and 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, is back as director, having closed his deal last fall.
>Paul Rudd is expected to return as Scott Lang, the heist-hearting hero with the power of petiteness in the new installment.
>The deal was wrapped up in the early days of Hollywood’s shutdown, according to sources, and Loveness has already commenced writing.
>Marvel has yet to publicly announce the project and seeing as writing is just getting underway, it is unclear when Ant-Man 3 would shoot. Sequels Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder were slated to shoot this year but the coronavirus pandemic has thrown all of Hollywood’s production schedule upside down. On Friday, Disney reshuffled the release dates of its movie slate, pushing back the series of Marvel films known as Phase 4.
>Loveness is known for his comedy work, having gotten his start writing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! On top of several seasons’ worth of the late-night show, he also worked on the Oscars, the Emmys and the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. He wrote on TBS’ Daniel Radcliffe-starring series Miracle Workers.
>Loveness has some Marvel experience having written comics centering on such characters as Spider-Man, Groot and Nova, among others, for the publishing powerhouse.
>acclaimed Rick and Morty, >Jimmy Kimmel Live! On top of several seasons’ worth of the late-night show, he also worked on the Oscars, the Emmys and the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
oh god oh fuck
Easton Scott
he wrote the good volume of nova, so chill
Bentley Martinez
I had no idea Jeff Loveness wrote for Rick and Morty.
I loved his Nova series. Especially "I hate every word in that sentence"
Andrew Gutierrez
I find it weird that there has been more news and hype about Ant-Man 3 than I ever heard about BP 2 or CM 2
Ryan Morgan
Then put him on a Nova movie, goddammit. Especially since we're getting a Ms. Marvel series; I wanna see Sam and Kamala boink before they force Miles into the fray.
Evan Phillips
>Loveness
Huh, I haven't seen his name in a while in regards to comics but I guess that's why. Nice
Joshua Thomas
Nice, Jeff Loveless is consistently A-Tier writing comics, so this'll probably be good. Didn't realize he did Miracle Workers.
Sebastian Thompson
What Rick and Morty episodes did he write though?
Jaxson Sanchez
Judas might be the best comic of the past few years
James Rogers
disney can't use miles so kamala is safe for the time being
Jace Roberts
yeet
I mean, if Disney pays Sony enough then they'll use Miles. I suppose the question would be how to integrate him into the MCU despite his multiversal origins, especially given how "Spider-Verse" will probably be what most people will assume to be his canonical origin story.
Ryder Watson
The MCU is dead, bury it.
Julian Scott
I have more interest in Ant-Man 3 than any other MCU project
>disney can't use miles so kamala is safe for the time being ?
Eli Powell
I like how Yas Forums likes the Ant-Man films while most of the world is meh on them.
Zachary Ramirez
Most of it has to do with the meme factor. But I love them more than most, though.
Jace Cruz
They are kind of meh but that's why I like them. I kind of like the lower stakes.
Carter Hughes
Those are both reasons why I like them so much. Ant-Man and the Wasp is the only MCU film where nobody dies in it and has things like Ant-Man being divorced and yet he gets along with his ex wife's new husband. He also wants to be a good father for his daughter instead of neglectful parents we always see. There's a lot of refreshing stuff in the films. Also it is doing its own thing so there are no prerequisite expectations on where the story should head unlike Cap, Thor and Iron Man.
Robert Kelly
Also, he punches out the leviathan.
Kevin Adams
I wish we could get a Ant-man adventure movie. no villains, no trying to set a big plot, just a adventure, the entire ant-man family visiting the microverse for the sake of science, they go there they see weird stuff, they fight some microverse monster , they meet a micro civilization and them go back to normal size.
Ethan Williams
they'll just kill off pete in the next movie with the sinister six they've been building since homecoming and replace him wholesale
Nicholas Nguyen
>>Spider-Man dies before he leaves high school >>Cut to Miles entering High School
Just shoot me.
Anthony Allen
>Yas Forums still pretending to be Ant-Man fans >Yas Forums suddenly are fans of Rick & Morty
Zachary Jones
the only hope I have for this not happening is the fact that we already saw pete die in the MCU and I don't think they'd want to replicate that again, especially since pete died twice in the same fucking year
Ian Hill
I like most of the characters, the humor is funny most of the time compared to other Marvel movies and I'd say that they can do good serious moments. The action scenes also are really creative and entering to watch, and he also steals the show when he appears in Avengers movies. I honestly think that Ant-Man in general got a pretty good treatment when it came to adapting it to live action, the movies also treat Hank Pym well.
I think you pointed out what makes Ant-Man different. It's a screwball comedy, not a "quip placed here for humor" sort of thing. Well, the 2nd on at least. The first one still has Ant-Man ruining the moment.
Nathaniel Lewis
>Jeff Loveness Sam Alexander confirmed then right.
>>Yas Forums suddenly are fans of Rick & Morty Sorry user, Yas Forums is a comic board
Nathaniel Thompson
They all come back in Endgame, so it doesn't count.
Camden Sullivan
Ants 2 is like a comic, a small adventure that got hit with a crossover event.
Nathan Morales
Both Ant-Man movies were soft hits. I think people were won over by the character in Civil War and Endgame where he stole nearly every scene he was in.
Oliver Williams
he wrote like 5 episodes of the current season
Adrian Sanchez
Thebslut dragon episode of rick and Morty was fucking terrible.
Jordan White
Jeff Loveness' Nova book and Judas comic gives me faith in him as a writer. I've never disliked a thing he's done and loved a lot of it.
Adrian Nguyen
>giving a shit about Ant-man I might have given a shit if they had cast someone who can fucking act to be Ant-man.
Bentley Morales
What do you guys think Ant-Man 3 is going to be about? I want the see Ants vs Swarm.
>ctrl + f >Judas >2 hits wtf, I thought Yas Forums loved that comic
Mason Murphy
Not those anons but I discovered that comic thanks to a storytime here, I really liked it and I'm also fan of Ant-Man so it's a pleasant surprise
Lucas White
who knows what the What If? episodes will be about. I hope one is Hank and Janet in the cold war, since it will be animated it won't matter that the actors are too old to do action.
Adrian Gutierrez
>while most of the world is meh on them They have consistently turned a profit.
Sebastian Johnson
I want MODOK. My pitch is something like this >AIM offshoot is reestablished under the Scientist Supreme, they are trying to create a cosmic cube. >Hank finds out and gets the team together to stop them (maybe Pym Particles are a part of the cosmic cube in this version) >to protect themselves AIM kidnaps Cassie >2 teams assembled, Hank and Scott have to take on AIM, Hope promises to get Cassie for Scott, takes along Goliath. >while rescuing Cassie, she lets out the secret that Scott stole and retrofitted a suit for her and she goes Stature when they make their break out. >Scott is fighting the Scientist Supreme when Hank goes for the Cosmic Cube, but MODOK is just putting the final parts together >Hank doses all the Pym Particles and mixing with the Cosmic Cube he ends up growing so far he hits the plane of abstracts.
