>implying Rich Johnston has any skill besides being a cock sucking faggot

Marvel and DC actively trying to kill the direct market is now confirmed.

Image was the only one to actually say "we aren't doing this"

Most retailers weren't on board with it either.

>failing because LCS owners don't want to do it
They deserve to die. The direct market is a noose strangling the industry.

Why do you guys want the comic industry to burn again?

Because it's full of faggots.

trash belongs in an incinerator

Maybe THEY do. But not everyone.

Yas Forums doesn't read comics. No problem if everything burns down.

If a house has a bad foundation you should tear it down and start over.

Oh I forgot, most of this board is comprised of full fledged FAGS that will endless jerk off Steven Universe and call it great writing.

Personally, I feel that a crash needs to happen if only to KILL DIAMOND DISTRIBUTION. Only when that's gone can comics as an industry revolutionize.

>implying most modern comics aren't just as terrible as steven universe

See you don't actually read comics, you just want to pretend they're all terrible so you can gloat when they do fuck up. We're slowly becoming Yas Forums with this TORtantic style thinking here

I just don't understand why retailers are so hell-bent on killing themselves while dragging the rest of the industry down with them

>people bitch about the industry being shit for years
>when it gets into a bad spot suddenly white knights keep cropping up to defend it tooth and nail
Are they just unemployed comic creators desperately trying to convince us they aren't shit, or do people really think the industry as it is now is worth saving?

This. Diamond's pseudo-monopoly has been holding the industry back for years. Firing a few hacks would have been sinple, but for Diamond to die, the whole house needed to come down.

What he said. Comics can only improve once they're gone.

Yes and yes,

shut the fuck up Boco

I thought Diamond was the only game in town because the industry isn't big enough to support several distributors? Floppies and LCSs are kind of a niche hobby, no?

diamond and comic shops are the reason comics have become so niche.

No.

so's your dad, what's your point

I don't really want it to burn but I'm pretty indifferent to it if it does. I enjoyed comics a lot as a kid growing up in the 90s but even then you knew that the market for them just wasn't sustainable and that's only gotten worse. I look at the death of comics a lot like I looked at the death of G4. I'm not happy about it but it needs to happen.

If you're referring to comics being sold at Starbucks and grocery stores, I'll pass. Neither will have the inventory you want, and they'll likely store them poorly. I know this shit started out disposable but goddammit I want my shit to be nice.
G4 died because the internet basically beat them to all gaming knowledge, they couldn't think of proper relevant entertainment to fill time slots, and of course all they aired was Cheaters/COPS near the end of the channel's life. Though I do miss Code Monkeys, they never did release season 2 on dvd. Comics at least have a following of both collectors and faithful readers. They're not going anywhere

Rich get off this fucking board.
We known its you...

If you look into older comic boards of a decade ago, you'd find it had pros on there that would have the moderators suppress critics. Some of them were Dan Slott, Mark Waid, Gail Simone. So you can assume some o f them are here doing damage control as they can't silence their critics as easily.

>goddammit I want my shit to be nice
this is another reason the industry is dying. they pandered to retarded collectors by making the books high quality which jacked up the price. nobody other than autists wants to pay $5 for a 22 page floppy.

I cannot think of a single person who is pleased with the Diamond/LCS situation that has been alive for the last 15ish years. Most comic fans fucking hate it and they are seeing this as their first real chance to end it.

Better writing than Heroes in Crisis, Metal, or Doomsday Clock

>by making the books high quality
in the most pandering way possible. let's not forget that fact.

I'm not saying the paper quality has to be fucking indestructible, I was merely pointing out that comics being sold at those places wouldn't be properly stored or displayed.
That's shit mainly because Diamond over-ships to LCS. They don't want it sitting in their warehouse, and the store is left with the bill.
Try listing something that isn't a event, retard. Everyone knows events suck 9 times out of 10

>I know this shit started out disposable but goddammit I want my shit to be nice.

There's your problem. It IS supposed to be disposable. Speculator shit of the 90s' with everything being a perfect collectible already crashed everything once, and it's looking like crashing it again. Every individual issue does not need to be a special collectible, it already makes all issues 25 and 50 fucking miserable.

Well the publishers should have let the lcs return unsold trash.

Most people, even comic fans, do not like comic shops as well. They are horrible places run by human garbage and mostly turn a lot of people off to the whole medium. Which is fine by the LCS owners since gate-keeping is their bread and butter.

Thanks for the heads up!

Hahahahaha
Let it all burn, we can catch up on backlogs next to the campfire.

Which I totally understand that, the speculator market has ruined comics. I don't collect for any sort of monetary value, just because I enjoy these characters. Again not really about the collector quality, mostly the idea that I expect the person selling it to give a shit.
I agree.
I hear this a lot but I find it baffling. Maybe I'm just lucky. My LCS is actually fucking awesome. They get new inventory frequently, almost anything you could want, and most of the guys working there are actually pretty nice where you could shoot the shit talking to them for a good bit. I'm open to hearing some comic shop horror stories though

Why would any of those fags be in Yas Forums? And how could they possibly silence anyone on fucking Yas Forums of all places? Y'all casualgaters have a martyr complex almost as big as those faggots too, it's infuriating.

The industry has fallen into doing a lot of shitty stuff in the name of quick cash instead of making a product for its loyal customer base, many whom have been around for decades.

Stuff like variant covers that are marked up 300%, multi-variant cover books, constant resetting numbers to issue #1, throwing continuity out the window in favor of new readers, forcing comic shops to buy books that they didn't order, multi-book a month events that bleed into anything currently selling, and constant shitting on characters to elevate their next big thing.

I am sure there are more reasons but those are some of mine.

>casualgaters
look they're outing themselves

I know right? The shit is really pathetic, now that they're falling they pull the "casualgator" bullshit or whatever. As if you can be anymore desperate.

>says group A are full of faggots
>also say group B are full of faggots
>look, he's a member of group A because he said mean words about group B!
faggot

Look! He's trying to blend in!
Nice try...

>comics creators were on old comics boards getting the moderators to control the narrative!
>obviously that means they're here too!
>even though they have zero way to leverage their influence over the moderators to control the narrative!
>but whatever, everyone who disagrees with me is a SHILL!

It's actually kind of hilarious how many variant covers Black Cat #1 had.........which I'm ashamed to admit I bought one or two

Man, don't bother trying to defend yourself in this shit hole. Everyone here is terrible and I cannot wait till it is gone along with the comic industry.

It's okay dude,
Your days are numbered,
You can hop on the unemployment line like the rest of the dumbasses comic writers.

Doesn't make you any less of a faggot compared to the SJWs you complain about you absolute casual. Maybe you should go back to jerking off your huckster Zack on his Twitter safespace.

so marvel's writing is so bad, it's not worth listing?

I'm tired of watching people fuck over the characters I love for their "new fresh thing".

I remember reading somewhere that New 52 was more about being able to sell 52 issue #1s and DC just used the new reader angle as a smoke screen. Then the issue #0s then the second wave of #1s. God I hate that I was part of buying them.

>YOUR NO DIFFERENT THAN THE SJWS!
Nice try with that maneuver faggot...

If only the art on the inside was as good as the cover art.

you aren't

See this is why they go after you. You had to throw in shit about the people they hate so now you look like one of them. Just call him a faggot and close the thread.

You can sort of tell who it is based on the rants they post on their twitter.

Attached: hv3rPkI[2].png (589x437, 444.65K)

I'm just tired of them spamming their 90s rejects garbage acting like it's an actual alternative to the garbage in the big 2 when it's just the same shit with a different coat of paint/politics.

Ah don't worry, you lose any way you look at it.
>Wow I really like this cover!
>Man, I want to support this writer
>Shit, I don't want to miss out on what's going on
>Fuck, it's a #1, collector autism is too strong.
And so on.
The art's main problem is REALLY fucked up coloring. It's actually kind of fucked up how common this happens too. Not only that, but the stories they have for Felicia weren't all that interesting. Except maybe the annual, that was fucking great. The art inside and out was good, and it actually had a fun plot.

Attached: Black Cat Annual.jpg (1280x1968, 521.6K)

You mean like how I'm like 56% sure Todd McFarlane shitposts on here and he's the only reason Spawn threads pop up?

It is ok user, soon there will be no big 2. That is the only good thing. Everything is ruined forever, just find the stuff you like and ignore everything/one else. I really don't even know why I am still here besides 15 years of habit coming back during this shitty isolation.

Not to mention it's everything on state lockdown which means comic writers or article publishers like this idiot here at has all the free time to do it while waiting for his stimulus check since he's being laid off like the dipshit he is.

Because I know it can be better, but it won't even try so long as they can get by with bad books, creators, stories and characters. That is not going to fly in the new industry nearly as easily so I look forward to seeing how it all shakes out.

Marvel really fucked up by cheaping out on their talent.

I bought the first issue of Marvel Ultimate Comics Spider-man and never read it because issue one autism. I still have it too, like it would actually be worth anything.

soon there will be no anything

So what's gonna happen now? First the "mutli-distribution" method DC mentioned never went anywhere and now this digital compromise failed.
