What the entire fuck. I read this comic expecting a cute Borrowers-style story based on the cover, but instead got one of the most fucked up comics I have ever read. Why doesn't Yas Forums ever talk about this?

We do, just not with you

we do, but because of corona and the shut in ballet, everything's about Steven Universe and various bullshit topics.
For an equally good one, read, "Miss 'Don't Touch Me'."
It's beautiful, and paints a very realistic picture of the world ca 1928, complete with medical butchery, hypocricy, homophobia, murder, and other evils. But did exaggerate the reality of Guayana as a French penal colony.

>Why doesn't Yas Forums ever talk about this?
It was storytelled here like two weeks ago...

yeah, remember the funny part where the prince gets snatched by the frog, but the frog hates the taste, spills him out, and the prince says, "Hey guys, what did I miss?"

>homophobia
>evil
Pick one

Pick one.

Personally I think it should have just ended after the first arch.
Basically turns into suffering porn after that, ironically.
Also

It's mentioned at least once in most recommendation or 3x3 threads.

Non cape discussion of comics on Yas Forums tends to go roughly like this
>OP announces a storytime and gives a few words on the comic before starting
>Anons commenting on certain pages as the storytime progresses. If image bump limit is reached, a new thread is made
>When OP is done, anons then discuss the events of the story, thank OP, come up with theories, talk about the author, share fan art ,make recommendations to similar comics or simply bump so other anons can get a chance to read until bump limit is reached or interest evaporates
>If the story is good enough or has a cute character, a drawfag or 2 might show to take requests
It's not the same for all comics, some are popular enough to have a discussion without a storytime, but those are very few. I am also pretty sure the existence of the archive means anons can just go there and look for old threads to read on their own.

I read it, but it didn't feel all that satisfying.

I'll definitely check it out at some point, but does anyone have recommendations for comics that have similarly excellent art to this, but aren't so dark? I just want something cheery for a change.

Happiness is artistically dishonest

maybe you should read miss dont touch me instead

The lead writer for "Miss Don't Touch Me" died recently, they also did "Beauty"; another Kerascoet work.

You can read Journey to Satania by same people.
It is very comfy lovecraftian pulp adventure.

Otherwise read anything by Emmanuel Lepage for gorgeous art and pleasant stories.

>I just want something cheery for a change.
The artist team also does some lighter works it seems like but only the dark stuff gets translated or brought over.

this desu

I agree.
It wasn't completely uninteresting, but it didn't feel necessary at all.

This explains a lot about the way people on this site think.

I got ya OP

>Beautiful Darkness animated film announced

OUT HERE IN THE FIELDS
I FIGHT FOR MY MEALS

Is it psychopathic to find the ending satisfying? The only one who didn't deserve to burn was the one with glasses, but everyone else got exactly what was coming to them, and Aurora seemed to have finally achieved happiness which was nice.

It's just the way of fairies

There is some kind of short line animation floating around.

How did the little girl die?

I orderd satania because it has the same team as for beautiful darkness. Only problem is that the bookstore I ordered from has to import the English translation from the U.S and can take two weeks if not more and EVEN THEN it might not come. Should I cancel my Yas Forumsmrades or is it worth the wait/uncertainty and the money?

Worth it honestly

It was implied that the man murdered her.

This is legit the only comic I recommend to my older sister after a storytime to read that she actually did
She literally ran to me after finishing it online to gush about it and then bought a hardcover

That is a popular theory here, but didn't seem like it was implied in the work.

Well, it's implied by the broken doll on the floor of his house. That's the only hint though so of course there's a lot of debate.

Maybe he had a daughter once.

The artist couple who worked on this also did an animated show called petit vampire. Has anyone here seen it?

There were a couple of ideas in the storytimes. The murder theory got floated, but the girl doesn't have any signs of struggle aside from a hole in her skull. It's possible she ate some poisonous mushrooms. The one that seemed most likely to me is that she fell out of a tree, though.

De cape et de crocs (Cloak and Fangs)

The Children of Captain Grant

I thought she was his daughter

Do you think this ambiguity/subtlety works in favor in disfavor of Beautiful Darkness?

In favour, certainly. It has sparked thoughtful discussion in almost every thread.

The dumb bitch brigade got what they deserve.

I think that if he'd killed her he would have at least hidden the body.

I don't know what you're on Yas Forums overrates the shit out of this comic exactly like you do. God I hate "are we weird yet" media.

But it's not weird for the sake of weirdness. There are themes and ideas. True, they are open to interpretation but you're not even trying.

>aren't so dark
- Scurry
- Stand Still. Stay Silent. The first Adventure chapters are complete, while the second Adventure is still updating and so it's probably best to wait to read it once finished. There's still some death but also somewhat cheerful.

This comic honestly gave me nightmares.

>But it's not weird for the sake of weirdness
Oh it definitely is. Like that's literally the whole selling point, "this is both cute and off-putting". Outisde of that oxymoron, the themes it explores would be perfectly finely served without the over the top weirness.

Better than the edgetrash the comic is.

you ever heard of contrast? Or juxtaposition?

The answer will always be in favor. Only capeshitters want everything spelled out for them, they get angry when there aren't thought bubbles where the feelings of the characters are laid out.

I don't suppose you have a link to the Journey story? My usual sources bring up nothing.

The way I found out about this comic was a thread about it on Yas Forums, OP. Also it's been storytimed on Yas Forums plenty of times, so it's incredibly well known.
I absoultely adore the dark fairy tale feel of the story. It's just so incredibly black.

The themes were about the shallowness and cruelty of society and people, using a children’s book art style and showing the savagery of both the tiny people and the world outside their home

Ever since branching out from cape comics, I simply can't stand thought bubbles/internal monologues anymore. It can be done well I suppose, but I find it usually more distracting/unnecessary.

I hate that the english version is OOP, I can't even get it from the libraries

Because they're primitive and plebeian. They can be used well( see Delano on Hellblazer) but in capes the writers are always trying to make sure you think what they think, they're pushing their ideas, their agendas and their philosophies and because their world is mostly build on capeshit they have a very black and white outlook on life so it's either right or wrong with them and they want to make sure the reader gets things right when reading their works.

The cover has a rotting human hand.

I'd finger fuck Aurora. Did they ever have a sexual awakening or not. I can't remember.

It wasn't that unnerving for me since I knew what I was in for when I first read it.

Fucking little bastards

Any fanfic where Aurora gets raped or anything? I'll take consensual masturbation.

you absolute goddamn fucking retard
