Post shows that were unironically groundbreaking, whether they were good or not.
Post shows that were unironically groundbreaking, whether they were good or not
it is cliche as fuck tho
It was groundbreaking because all the fat chicks sat down all at once to watch SU
Define groundbreaking, if you're basically retreading themes we have already been at before then you aren't breaking new ground. HOWEVER I do see this as a groundbreaking cultural piece of how Pedophilic media can be used to brainwashed youth. It's kind of like what the parents unironically thought Pokemon and shit was doing back in the day.
If you mean it broke the ground because of how heavy the fat dyke fans were that it collapsed then yes it was groundbreaking
>groundbreaking
on what
>Post shows that were unironically groundbreaking.
You first.
SU was an effect rather than a cause.
>Post shows that were unironically groundbreaking, whether they were good or not.
What grounds did it break? It wasn't the first cartoon to show a gay couple, wasn't the first to feature VAs that are on the spectrum, animation's shit until someone from japan helps out for a minute or two, which is still nothing compared to things like Avatar, the characters are one dimensional, etc.
This show wasn't as groundbreaking as everyone from Twitter to here says. Just take steps back and really think about SU.
The show had good ideas and themes but was very poorly executed to the point where you literally have to not think about it in order for the story to make sense. The constant retconning of characters and their development or breaking the show's rules just so the characters get out off a situation quickly. Building up plot points only to abandon it later on and never mention it again. The Steven perspective rule.
Seriously, you build up a world with so much to explore and tell and they just decide to focus on beach city most of the time.
Anything Steven Universe contributed, Adventure Time already did. I've never seen SU shirts at target, or elementary kids wearing them, but have seen lots of Finn and Jake merchandise.
Come on guys, like it or not SU was absolutely groundbreaking. It made a lot of normie parents actually start to take more concern in the entertainment they were raising their kids on, and question just how deep this rabbit hole goes
You guys are those insane "Pokemon is Satanic" parents of today and are just as soup-brained.
I haven't even seen the show apart from the first episode but having the main hero be a fat kid with curly hair and flip-flops must already count for something.
>Let's steal all the anime plots and pretend that we made them
>This is groundbreaking in the sense that cartoons are dying and our show is digging its grave.
how can you have enough self awareness to know that you're like the parents complaining about pokemon but not enough to then realise you're also full of shit
Garbage show.
There’s a difference between “this show is made by an evil cult intended to brainwash our children into worshipping Satan” and “what exactly are they trying to teach my kid here, and is this observable elsewhere?”
No you're both the same clown shoes wearing, developmentally stunted, reactionary, lame ass adults. Sorry two men holding hands makes you uncomfortable or something but the world is moving on without you.
>Steals plot
Not in the slightest. Taking inspiration from past themes is what all creators do. The only reason you sperg about it with SU is because you don't like it and your smoothbrain can't reconcile that fact as shit reasoning.
This, we should just erase the middle man and air nothing but anime.
“y-y-you just HATE GAY PEOPLE!!!”
underrated
Hate? Oh no. I just think you're insecure and scared of change. Insecurity of some kind is the cause of many social problems.
goddamn
It's groundbreaking cause it has gays in it. Never in the history of animation has there ever been a kids cartoon featuring a sensitive male with a giant cat pet who fights the forces of evil while learning valuable morals along the way.
Oh wait, all the gays are fake in Steven Universe because they're solar-powered holograms with no genitals. Nevermind, SU didn't do shit.
How about a cartoon that would tell other networks they could make an animated product that has no animation on a $5 budget and it's still a hilarious show that people will want to watch. Space Ghost eventually led to the creation of Adult Swim and the precursor for things like South Park and Beavis & Butthead (Teen or higher audience shows that have crappy-on-purpose animation done on a budget) to be greenlit.
Grounbreaking in pandering to LGBTfags, but not in storytelling or anything else that actually matters.
Do you guys ever think rebecca sugar thinks about what she could've done better on the show?
I pray that one day I will have the opportunity to slowly strangle the life out of your rotten carcass with my bare hands, and after you have stopped twitching, pass water over your pitiful remains.
No idea, but I do.
Some of her decisions are completely baffling.
Still love the show, but the thought of what it could have been torments me.
Imagine that 'I am my monster' would have been a four-parter like 'Change your mind' instead of the utter nothing we did get.
KEK
No one said flapjack?
I'm disappointed in you Yas Forums
It inspired a lot of cartoons, adventure time is almost a rip off of it
But then again, we all know this
funny how the nay sayers are mainly pointing out its not ground breaking if its not merchandising everywhere or its just copied something from a preexisting show. An influential show doesnt mean it needs to be plastered on every shirt and mug (flapjack) and every show has always been influenced by something that has come before it evangelion is literally the culmination of the first half of 90's anime and james bond films to an extent.
holy shit dude
Thanks mate, I really needed to laugh.
>Badly done anime refs
>Constant SJWBS pandering
>Bad writing and forced morals galore
>Barely any action and non comedy to truly speak of
Yeah... it's groundbreaking with how overrated and downright bad it unfortunately is, really.
I wish things that are/were actually good like Craig of the Creek / OK K.O. (despite what people say about the artstyle of the latter.) weren't compared to this more than anything....
Adventure Time, and by extension, Regular Show, and Gumball were actually fun to sit down to (at least for me), user. Flapjack and Chowder barely hold up for me anymore, in comparison.
>groundbreaking
I can't distinguish it from any other cartoon made in the past 10 years
The definitive potrayel of Batman
Truth
More Truth
Even more Truth
If that show were actually more funny and/or not so damn condescending to the audience and not overplayed at the expense of better shows (not Gay Space Rocks, that sadly sucks.), I'd almost agree with you.
To be fair, DCSHG (2019) is worse, from what I've actually watched of that, anyway. At least TTG tries to be funny, even if I don't care for it, either.
No one would argue that, really. Too bad I like Batman Beyond more, for example of something good involving the Caped Crusader.
Yep. One of the few examples of something that managed to eclipse its source material.
Yeah all those PG era shows changed the way people thought about cartoons
Gravity Falls changed kids shows forever. So many are trying to model themselves after it.
and it’s a good thing
The show with the horses.
Not only did it change what a kids show could be, but what was essentially a commercial for little girls became a phenomenon across the board, so much so that some are still seething
Absolutely. The fact that a side character from this show is now one of the most popular characters in DC speaks volumes
i like that all 10's cartoons barely have any stay power on this site other than su
Mods don't allow me to.
Name me three shows not made by Disney that are trying to imitate Gravity Falls.
Victor and Valentino
Welcome to the Wayan
Basically any show that has an overarching story
>Gravity Falls is the inspiration for ANY modern cartoon that has the slightest of plot progression across a season.
I should have clarified, non-action shows.
