It wasn't the first cartoon to show a gay couple, wasn't the first to feature VAs that are on the spectrum, animation's shit until someone from japan helps out for a minute or two, which is still nothing compared to things like Avatar, the characters are one dimensional, etc.

This show wasn't as groundbreaking as everyone from Twitter to here says. Just take steps back and really think about SU.
The show had good ideas and themes but was very poorly executed to the point where you literally have to not think about it in order for the story to make sense. The constant retconning of characters and their development or breaking the show's rules just so the characters get out off a situation quickly. Building up plot points only to abandon it later on and never mention it again. The Steven perspective rule.
Seriously, you build up a world with so much to explore and tell and they just decide to focus on beach city most of the time.

funny how the nay sayers are mainly pointing out its not ground breaking if its not merchandising everywhere or its just copied something from a preexisting show.
