Toonami Infections for 3/28/20

Because of Corona-chan, Funimation has cancelled all their current and upcoming simuldubs. This impacts MHA and Black Clover. We do not know when they will continue.

On April 11th Toonami is airing a Kai marathon because of Corona. Piss that momentum right down the drain.

Last week was great, with huge Corona bumps from start to finish. This week, we see that we quickly hit our peak last week, with everything trending downwards. Still a decent night compared to months prior, but even with boredom rising nationwide, Toonami was not a consistent choice for people to alleviate it. Don’t be surprised to see the drops continue as we go into one or possibly more marathons.

11:30 My Hero Academia 610 0.32

12:00a Sword Art Online: Alicization War of Underworld 469 0.25

12:30a Demon Slayer 453 0.24

1:00a Food Wars 404 0.22

1:30a Black Clover 366 0.21

2:00a Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind 327 0.19

2:30a Naruto: Shippuden 293 0.18

Toonami is ___.

So is infection gone now?

oh no

How long do we have to wait for some kind of news?

This week
Possibly today

Even if we get something today, it may just be the next marathon

If they were showing multiple marathons in a row, then they would've announced them at the same time.

This is Demarco we are talking about. Even the guaranteed end of the year marathons aren’t announced together

someone pick out a good stream we can watch

Friendly reminder.

So Toonami really is finished? What will I do on Saturday now,go back to masturbating for 4 hour?

You're been saying that for years.

This time might be the real deal though. Especially if the rumor is true and we go into a month or more of marathons and have no show announcements

No one could have predicted the China flu would be such a critical blow to the block. We foolishly assumed Demarco prepared shit more than a month ahead

Still doing better than a decade ago

This was Adult Swim Action the week of March 28, 2010. In terms of total viewership, I think the ratings for the 2010 era may actually be as bad if not worse than the ratings in this thread (which is saying something given how many people watched cable/AS in 2010 vs. 2020)

The early 2010s were the era of Family Guy reruns regularly topping out at 3 - 4 million viewers...

ASA was being aired as a charity service at that point. AS could afford to with Family Man pulling 2mil every slot it was in. Those family bux are coming to an end

Mostly terrible shows. I could do better cruising for random animu streams.

We know. Demarco has awful taste

Not exactly true...

From left to right you have, Household rating, total viewer numbers (in 000s), 18 - 49 demo rating, and 11 - 17 demo rating...

>Kai marathon
why?
why not Naruto or MHA why Kai again

>Demarco prepared shit more than a month ahead
mother fucker Food Wars was a last minute decision

ahdurrrrrrrrr normie like dwagon ball..... - the faggit man

>family guy, boondocks, and bleach do better among people aged 11 - 17 than a primetime madagascar airing

Really makes you think how many kids were watching AS vs actual adults

dead

It wasn't. It was just moved up earlier.

It was fairly routine for at least the leadoff hour to be mostly people under 18 watching.

Back when Adult Swim used to post ratings bumps, the 9 PM King of the Hill was routinely the lowest rated show on weeknights in terms of the 18 - 34 demo, moreso than stuff aired at 4 or 5 AM even (usually averaging about 250k 18 - 34 viewers). Yet total viewership was almost always well over a million.

I think there were several times where the short lived live action reruns at 9:30 on Sundays bottomed out well below 100k 18 - 34 viewers, yet had like 500k total viewers (aka all children). Still pretty awful ratings though, especially for that time...

You can basically bet that the first hour of Adult Swim after CN, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, and the first hour or two of ASA (especially the shonen shit) were all watched by as many, if not more under 18s than, say, college students or above.

>how can we make this not kill the block?
>let’s air something not currently on the air
He is tard

Based

Being a kid and watching the “adult” shows is a feeling almost all 20 somethings remember. Kids are always looking to grow up, and an easy way to do that is avoid the kid shows and watch the adult ones. Even Family Guy has acknowledged most of its fans are 14

how do you read the tv ratings? 610 0.32 is that 610 thousend veiwers? or am i being a brainlet?

That may be, but people figured that was an exception and the rest of their deals were still handled 6 months in advance. As we can see now, that’s not the case

610,000 total viewers. 0.32 means 195,200 of those viewers were in the target 18-34 demographic

>one year ago today

Attached: 2019-04-01.png (693x483, 580.46K)

one of these days its gonna end mark my words

>0.32 means 195,200 of those viewers were in the target 18-34 demographic
Not quite. I've seen stuff go over 1.0 and 2.0 before. It's more to do with what everyone else in that demo is watching comparatively. So 1.0 means 1% of all 18-34s were watching that. .32 means 0.32% of all 18-34s were watching...

The funny thing is if you take that image literally, it’s correct. That TOM did die in 2019

Ok, here's what I don't get. Why doesn't Demarco just air two or three episodes of Shippuden until the whole Corona shit is over? It's not like there isn't a huge backlog of episodes to mull through, and the dub is completely finished, isn't it?

Demarco wants Naruto to last till 2024 so he doesn’t have to research a new show to fill its slot

The real question here is why the entire block is taking time off for who knows how long when MHA is the only trouble show. We finally could have closed the gap on Black Clover a little bit, but no let’s shut it all down for MHA

>Why doesn't Demarco just air two or three episodes of Shippuden until the whole Corona shit is over?
Oh great, going back to the actn days of burning off two hour blocks of the same shitty, shonen long-runners
that will really inspire people to tune in...

Yeah, at this point I feel like it's laziness more than anything.
I think AS pays Viz, Funi, etc. to air an episode of anime each time but even if that's true, the money that would've went to MHA/Black Clover would just go to Viz more, so who cares?

Very good question, is it just Kai marathons from here on out? I barely even follow Toonami or these threads anymore because it's always just the same doomer shit.

It would just be a temp thing till the simuldubs can get back and running.

Because he's a faggit.

It’s more desirable than another rerun of Kai

They buy Naruto in batches of 52. On the surface that sounds like a problem, but remember we have 5 prior years of overflow episodes that didn’t air on marathon nights. They definitely could have pulled this off for a week or two

Online schedule says we are getting the start of Cell. That’s not very interesting for a one time marathon, so I’d say it’s gonna be Kai over and over

American here: Documentaries and Cop shows have better twists to than the shonen genre.

Gohan is literally Aaron Hernandez done right: ProSports Star who does gangster shit with his wife.

They buy long runners like Naruto in packs so going through all the episodes means they would have to buy the next batch much sooner then they need too.

Nah, My Hero Academia is that low. It's just another school anime that has no business on the block. It's meant for daytime and kids.

Americans don't like Naruto. He wasn't the pop culture juggernaut that Dragonball was.

Dragonball had stories that lasted 4-5 hours in length.

The Frieza Arc was trimmed from 24 Hours to either 6 hours in length

What I think they are doing is playing everything a week at a time in hopes Funi can deliver an MHA episode. If they can’t, they roll into another Cell marathon. They probably will be cutting down to midnight soon as they implied would happen, and I can see Prog or Alt replacing Demon Slayer for 6-12 weeks

>Americans don’t like Naruto
>frequently blows out Jojo

Someone explain to me why they don’t have any new shows lined up. The last 2 simuldub seasons had nothing Toonami would normally go for, so that can’t be the reason.

I meant that the average Naruto Story doesn't leave much of an impact on the viewer that Dragonball did.

Naruto had the worst of the worst and the highs of the highs without good stories between it

Fans have stared that they merely want to watch the original Dragonball and hate Z and Kai.

The only reason DBZ left an impact on anyone was because it aired on a CN that typically only aired Y7 and down shows. Kids loved the adult feel of DBZ. Nobody gives a fuck about the story, they just care about dude goku lmao

Try harder. Most Toonami fans hate the original DB

Mistare Fusion and Plague of Gripes believe that Dragonball Z's success is owed more to Gohan being the kid character that the audience grows with. Fans see it as Gohan's story since he is the same age as the viewer.

He is just successful than Ash or even Tai or Shinji

The dub spells out that Bulma and Vegeta got together because they are spoiled brats

Toonami fans hate Kid Goku because of GT. They like Smug bastard Goku. Sean just change from Goku being sarcastic to being selifsh and more like Peter Griffin

I wonder how much of Part 5's dub was done. Knowing that while Part 4 was airing, they were still dubbing it.

What did AS do for April Fool's last night? I missed it

>Oh great, going back to the actn days of burning off two hour blocks of the same shitty, shonen long-runners
What else is the alternative?
What could they possibly air to fill time during COVID-19 times when all productions have been shut down.

You have four viable options:
1) Rerun marathons of recent episodes of various shows (very likely)
2) Airing blocks of shows that were dubbed well in advance, ie. long runners (very likely)
3) Filling the block with cheap, classic ASA/Toonami reruns that Turner already has or can easily get the rights to (somewhat likely)
4) Toonami goes on total hiatus (less likely)

Aired 12oz Mouse type shows and Post Malone

Goku in Z: Deliberately lit a fire under Bulma and Chi Chi just because he has a sexual fetish for angry women

Goku in Super: Pretty much Anime Peter Griffin with Bulma as Lois

Nah its still around, i think i still have it

is there something tonight??

Adult Swim doesn't care. They have Ballmasters: DD can't make nuts bust by being online.

They know the Fetish

Normally I think they still do shit until 12 am.

>literally and who said some stupid shit
Why should I care about people saying wrong things?

>because of GT
No, they hate it because DB comes off as a kids show, the direct opposite of what young DBZ fans got hooked on in the 90s

airing movies

Probably not done, but Viz also hasn’t made any comments on delays either

They could also actually buy some new god damn shows and give us some of that diversity we were promised

Kids shows in America were the main producer and exporter of fetish gags. We can't get away with fetish gags anymore.

Live Action just got better at doing gags than cartoon

If they could get movies they could get new shows

They were already airing 7 premieres a night. This would change nothing.

Viz is based in LA. They merely want what is popular and not what is fun.

That's Speaker Pelosi's state.

who gives a shit, Toonami knew full well about Dragonball, that's why they ran it next to DBZ back when it was on weekdays.

It was basically the 2008 prank all over again. They aired sneak peaks of upcoming/returning shows.

Realistically though, could they? Yes
Would they? No. What would even be viable/logical for them to get the rights to?

Naruto is painful to watch. It felt like Naruto and Sakura and the other children develop but Sasuke didn't develop.

I was infected, smiley faced and now I'm immune I guess.
