To be fair, this season was finished months in advance. They always planned on having Ivy ending up with Harley. It's not them changing the show at the last minute to appeal to shippers.

Right I'm not denying that, I just want the characterization and progression to make sense. To warrant it now, they'd either have to character assassinate Kite Man to be an asshole, or just have him magically not give a shit. A three way relationship could be funny, because at least that would tie-in to Kite Man's HELL YEAH attitude, able to bang two attractive supervillains. And speaking of supervillains, I don't really understand what the writers are trying to say when they both want Harley to be a top villain, but then later say "Oh you're not a bad person". What? Also I'm not really big on pretending Ivy isn't a supervillain either. It just seems like modern backpedaling because going green is a hot topic now. But hey, Daria Ivy is still fun I guess

Harley is a character that can't succeed on her own, that's why she needs to be paired with a more well known and established character.

I agree. Harley's personality for this show is the "new" version of harley that I never liked, but since everyone is very off canon and ooc in this show I'll let it slide. This daria Ivy is very refreshing. It would be much more impactful if this version of Ivy were to fly off the rails because you wouldn't be expecting it. Meanwhile the only thing old ivy was, was a superhenchman and her stories only revolved around her trying to take over stuff with plants. One trick pony.
This Harley is a good main character though because she has a clear defined goal that she'll do anything for that drives the plot forward. It's good! Meanwhile Birds Of Prey was awful because Harley was passive and thus sucked as the main character

I liked old Ivy. It just grew stale and one dimensional after a while because it seemed like writers didn't do anything with her character except for having her be a henchman for a more evil character and trying to take over the world with plants.

Harley's problem is that she's part of a two man comedy act and solo wise there's not much mileage. Also Ivy was great on her own
