Maybe it's both ways. Judging from the differing shades of green, they probably factor the incubation period, so infection doesn't instantly show.

It's a little disappointing cause Robot/Shadow was the only male/male relationship in the comic (even though neither was truly male) and they had an interesting dynamic together, with Robot being lowkey evil and all.

But it's not bad. I love this Siren design and, in a vacuum, I like the idea of Robot choosing to be a woman even if this form doesn't really fit what we've seen so far about the character (agile sword fighting). It's definitely a much more flattering form than the last we saw of him tho.

I don't think that's true. This Kat religion has always been presented in a kind of unsettling way.

I like Gunnerkrig but he's really starting to drag shit out, this "chapter" could have been like 3 pages, that goes for most of them these days. I honestly can't imagine him doing some of the earlier chapters again now... they'd be split out across 3 or 4

One of the coolest parts of this comic for me was the constant introduction of crazy shit that would expand the lore or solve some mystery but it seems like neither is really part of the comic anymore. Even when you do get some cool or crazy shit, like the judge shenanigan when Kat copied the ownership contract, it's generally forgotten as quickly as it was introduced.

Remember when the judge guy said that neither Annie is from this continuity? Kat made a funny face and that was that.
Even this chapter, despite having beautiful art at times, boils down to filler. The Jones chapter was similarly long winded but for a valid reason, it gave us insight into existing characters, it gave Annie insight into Jones and it answered a question (who is Jones?) with another question (what is Jones?) in typical Gunnerkrigg fashion. I struggle to see what this chapter may have contributed to the story, lore or characters.
