You complain. But in hindsight we knew more or less about Pink Diamond, or a 4th diamond, 4 years ago when people were pointing out that the old diamond logos had a 4th color that the new ones didn't.
Then people speculated that Pink was Rose which was more or less confirmed when Steven began seeing Pink's memories.
From that point it was clear that Steven was a diamond and that the story could only end up with Steven reconciling with the Diamonds, not fighting them.
To put it another way your initial expectation was that Rose was a rebel and the diamonds were a great alien enemy, then they subverted those by shifting the entire show to "family troubles" and steven wins by yelling at white loud enough until she realizes she is bad. The end.
When they became family, it was never going to end any other way except for everyone becoming friends.
