Cynical part of me hopes these comic shops die now

How dare you!

>still no word on the digital release of Marvel Comics
DC also said they're not putting out comics until like April 29th so no comics at all this month.

thanks gods for Italy!

Here's the final list of DC titles coming digitally tomorrow: dccomics.com/comics
>still no official statement from DC themselves

ya but DC didn't put out anything official, just quietly delayed. They haven't talked to anyone about anything.

Marvel is just following what the other publishers are doing, just really fucking late.

Grazie Bro

I sincerely have nothing but negative feelings towards everyone in the direct market who pushed for this delay of digital comics until physical is available again, as well as anybody not directly involved who voiced support for this idiocy.

This delay could very well be indefinite and not just a month like you optimistically believe. What if we don't have any new comics for a year or more?

Fuck yall, for wanting to prop up a flawed market.

I agree, but at the same time this gives me a chance to spend my money on my growing backlog of issues in the meantime lol

>DC is stupid for releasing comics
Seethe more, Ladderbro.

They're deciding what is going to stay and go now. Lots of little books about to get the ax.

they aren't releasing comics, they just never actually made an announcement about it. You have to find hearsay about it on twitter.

DC delayed until april 28. And those cucks will likely delay again if diamond isn't up and running again(and they most likely won't). Marvel and everybody will also cuck out to the direct market.

It’s for the best marvel has had way too many titles a month for years now with shit art and writers.

Digital, son.

>its marvel and dc responsibility to keep alive an industry that doesnt want to evolve wih the times
Im surprised the industry behaves exactly like their most ardent and useless fanboys out there.

This logic is ridiculous.
>Music stores are shut down during the pandemic, so all digital music sales must also stop
>Movie theaters are closed, so digital film releases can't happen either. it's only fair

DC chads win

Yeah, That's what I want them to do. They can just release digital in the mean time and worry about the Physical market when and if it comes back.

Check again. DC moved their comixology releases for this wednesday back to April 29th. We're just as fucked.

I expected something funny this April Fool's, this isn't funny at all.

>DC moved their comixology releases for this wednesday back to April 29th.
These floppies are now pulled:

So wait they're de-listed entirley now?

Once again, fuck all of the direct market shills.

They aren't releasing either digital or physical up until the end of April, retarded DCuck.
Which was to be expected since the floppies were already printed, as always DC was desperate for some publicity and said some bullshit only to backpaddle the same day.

>DCuck
Incoming ban.

So what the hell is going to be storytimed tomorrow?

Attached: Burger Croc.jpg (590x393, 80.89K)

So Marvel and DC are ceasing publication?

We literally are seeing it happen RIGHT. NOW.

The American comic book industry just ceased to exist.

Literally nothing.

I honestly hope DC and Marvel dies out. Fuck cape shit.

>What if we don't have any new comics for a year or more?
Good. I would rather see no new comics than the perro caca that's been pinched out these past 15 years.

DC does not want to be seen as the bad guy but really you either save some of the books or none of the books here. The distributor and the stores are closed everyone knows what has to happen.

Well I guess if some people wanted to, you could put together a "this date x years ago y was released" grab bag of storytimes.

But more likely this place is going to turn into even more of a shitpost fest until new things are actually released who knows when.

We could always do story times of pain or maybe shit we like?

>more likely this place is going to turn into even more of a shitpost fest
Anyone wanna debate MoS again for old time's sake?

No it didn't

As if anyone wants to buy their comics, I'm sure they put off online sales because they don't want to be the center of attention when their online service and sales naturally turns out to be a stunning failure.

Fuck sake, Amazing Spider-Man & Immortal Hulk are some of the only things I look forward to media wise and now I cant have even that because for some reason they think releasing it digitally is bad?

FUCK LCSs

Damnit, I want my normalcy in these times
why couldn’t dr strange release 1 week earlier reeeee

Damn, no Ant-Man tomorrow. Feels bad man.

LMAC?

Your wrong

i'll storytime final crisis and multiveristy if you all promise to masturbate in to a shortbox of burning comics. hypercrisis is our only hope now. maybe we can collectively form some kind of superpositional anxietygasm and wish non-existence back to its default state.

WHAT THE FUCK

fuck both marvel/dc for sucking off diamond

DIGITAL EXISTS FOR THIS VERY REASON. jesus fucking christ, literal retards

>the Big Two are dead, at last
>people will buy Image instead

Attached: liefeld2.jpg (360x270, 20.38K)

Liefeld is an Oracle.
He foresee this

Does anyone here actually buy digital comics?

I buy physical comics at least.

But of course. Where do you think those digital rips come from?

DC has confirmed officially, and really that's all that matters. I'm happy both made the right decision.

ur mom

New business model, sell nothing to no one ever!

It's definitely a bold strategy.

>wanting to avoid devaluing the medium itself is selfish
Until digital readers as a segment recognize comics cost 1.99 and up per issue they will never be catered to. Comics aren't cheap to make.

Sucks to suck kid companies shouldn't chase people who won't buy their product at full price.

In an era when studios are releasing movies digitally for some money coming in, comic companies decided to just not sell anything for the foreseeable future

So they sell one digital copy?

>everyone in the direct market who pushed for this delay of digital comics until physical is available again

So, old guys that pine for their floppies and are anti digital because their childhoods?

Attached: 456555213.jpg (570x570, 65.19K)

How new are you? Summer Wednesdays are usually bare bones too. SoPs and classics are awesome. Complete Usagi and Year One are in the catalog just this moment.

I buy physical and couldn't be happier that DC did an about face and canceled digital releases.

Lol.

The movie companies are releasing bombs they ended up saving money on distribution.

Kind of reminds me of the recording studios trying desperately to try and keep people buying CDs well into the 2010s when everyone wanted digital and just pirated when no one was willing to make a decent legitimate source for mp3s.

It's always fun when the companies that are supposed to be all about the new, the youth, new things and new trends, are stuck in their old ways and refuse to evolve with the time until things pass them by.

Reminder that this isn't some cynical ploy by a conspiracy of comic and distribution execs, it's because no comic company, nor their owners, want to deal with the potential bad publicity that could erupt if suddenly thousands of comic shop owners took to social media screaming about how Marvel and DC are taking actions that would literally kill thousands of small businesses for the sake of their bottom line.

Or someone mines them from a service and it's like selling none.

I might fuck around and do Marvel's colorized release of Akira

how new are you? comics still came out every wednesday in the summer, regardless if you dislike them

And yet unless you're retarded everyone knows music is worthless now. Most bands don't play shows that will make them any sort of living past operational costs and they have to be baristas and shit.

Nice try, FBI.

Yea, and above is the reason why it died.

That's at least understandable. Digital still has monetization issues compared to physical in terms of music.

It's not just that, they likely realized everyone who wa excited for digital to "take over" was excited because they though prices would drop after physical died. They don't understand physical prices subsidize constant digital sales and unlimited services and trade discounts and discounts cut to Amazon and Walmart.

Go to hell.

So they decided to screw creators instead of shop owners

There is also the fact that people are perfectly willing to buy digital at current prices, so prices would only drop to the point where companies feel they maximize market share while maintaining increased profit margins. Plus the fact that existing contracts would need to end before operating costs would decrease, which might take years.

I would love for this to take DC and Marvel down a few pegs so that we can finally have some other companies actually accomplish things. It still seems like the industry consists of DC, Marvel, and the occasional other guys that also manage to squeak by with a book or two that looks interesting. But is still considered "underground" obscure stuff.

I still don't see how non big 2 capeshit books struggle for a foothold when the majority of them that manage to get even a little bit of a following actually do really well and spawn movies, series, and franchises of their own pretty nicely. At the very least non capeshit books are a valuable IP farm for film studios.

How many people have made how much money from The Crow, TMNT, Scott Pilgrim, and Walking Dead?

Attached: fil2.jpg (225x225, 8.71K)

gaaaaay

I still buy cds, though
and frankly, if you listen to hip hop and metal, you get plenty of cd / vinyl re-releases monthly, so I can't complaihn

And then what?

it's never gonna happen user.

>ladderbro being retarded and saying striaght up disinformation
Stupid marvirgin

Yea but it won't because DC is owned by AT&T/Warner and Marvel is owned by Disney. They are going to be the dominant establishment no matter what and every other company, including Image, Dark Horse and IDW will be the lesser third parties that are all but invisible to the general public eye. They are not going anywhere and third party studios will remain comic shop curiosities until someone makes a movie about one of them and people go back and look up the books.
