Controversial take: He did a pretty decent Uncanny X-men run with a great cyclops but it will always be dismissed as trash due to purple man possed jean gray making ice man gay.

I will defend with my life Mark Waid's first half of a career. He was amazing, took silver age concepts and made them new and fresh. More than that, he could tell a coherent story.
I don't know what the fuck happened. I read anything from Waid nowadays and it's all random shit happening after another, barely attached to the semblance of a plot. It's like he got some sort of sudden dementia.

I mean the structure of it's plot is predictable right down to "X subplot will last Y number of pages" but that doesn't make it bad. Just makes it symmetrical
