Let's talk about Spider-Man. I believe Mysterio and Shocker to be underrated. Can you think of any new villains to add to his rogues gallery with gimmicks that haven't been done yet? Favorite artists and runs?
Let's talk about Spider-Man. I believe Mysterio and Shocker to be underrated...
>I believe Mysterio and Shocker to be underrated
I'd like to buy you a beer.
>Favorite collected story is Peter Park: Spider-Man #44-47 (A Death in the Family)
Jenkins fucking killed it with his characterization of Osborn. Ramos was a bit hit or miss but I still think pulled it off.
>Favorite set of issues ASM#617 & 625
Joe Kelley needs a Spidey ongoing.
>Favorite "Run" is USM Vol. 1 & 2 (Peter) by Bendis
Have yet to say anything top this in my eyes. If I was told to provide someone a starting point with Spider-Man, I'd hand then the first issue of USM and tell them to continue until they reach Death of SPider-Man.
Not my favorite SPidey suit but definitely enjoyable every now and again.
I’ve always wanted to see an “anti-Spidey” in the same way those silly ass c-listers Batman has constantly show up. They always have the exact anti-Batman story. Parents were criminals who were killed by cops so they swore in their grave to be supervillains, that type of silly ass shit. Like imagine if we get like Manrachnid whose origin is his uncle was killed by the Punisher after stealing money form the orphanage he worked at so Manrachnid swore on his grave that no evil will ever go punished. And like his uncle’s last words to Manrachnid was “crime always pays” and he was like “no uncle I want to work hard and become a doctor”. So instead he’s just like constantly saving c-lister supervillains from Spider-Man. It’d be great.
>I'd like to read the same story I've read multiple times before, but this time with Spider-Man in it
no wonder comics are so shit these days
It’s fun and silver age. I just want some silly comics man, just let me have some silly comics goddamnit
For a good number of years, Venom was my favorite Spidey villain hands down. I think a large part of that was due to how well he was portrayed in the animated series.
I just want Web-Man to come back
So you want a phoned-in Morrison run?
Doc Ock is a better regular nemesis than Goblin. In fact Goblin works best as a once a decade threat.
I'm a big Mysterio fan, and I suspect I'm not alone. To my fellow Mysterio fans, what are your thoughts on Guardian Devil?
Personally, I fucking hate it. It just feels so out of character for Quentin to become this sadistic rapist and to be so...cruel. I'm much more a fan of campy, goofy Quentin.
See my question is where do we draw the line for "illusions" to "okay that's just straight up fucking magic"? After all, Spencer's ASM run started with Mysterio taking on the entire fucking Avengers with a fake alien invasion
Eh, I honestly give modern Quentin a bit of a pass because you can almost hand-wave it as "servant of Kindred" stuff, even if that wasn't Spencer's intent.
Plus, even though it was an alternate version of him, the Old Man Logan equivalent fooled Wolverine into murdering all the X-Men. Mysterio's illusions are apparently stupidly convincing.
But he was doing that BEFORE meeting Kindred, and it wasn't magic at all. The point I'm making is sometimes holograms and robots don't explain nearly half the shit Quentin pulls off
Yeah, I can agree with you there. I always thought writers should just say fuck it and make his illusions an actual superpower to avoid those types of complaints, but I also just love the charm of a no-powers villain facing off against superhumans.
Yes Mysterio should indeed remain practical.
Black Cat
fat titties
White Rabbit.
But no need to make her hot like pic related, keep her adorably pathethic but never redeemed.
White Rabbit is underrated
Red hair>>>>Blonde
It Is Known.
>I believe Mysterio and Shocker to be underrated.
Based. There's a reason I got a first Mysterio signed by Stan Lee and graded back in 2014 along with issues 121 and 122.
Is it wrong that I want to spend my Trumpbux on something like that? First appearance of either Mysterio or Shocker, I don't know. I'm off work but still getting paid so its just extra cash in my pocket
All depends on what condition you want them in and if you can afford to do it. I got my first Mysterio back in 2014 and at a 3.0 it was around $200 but because of FFH, the price has gone up. I think a 3.0 now is like $600
Speculator inflation is fucking bullshit
Yeah, it is. Still crying because a first Punisher keeps going higher and higher
How? I get Frank is popular with casuals big time but the most cash you get out of him is counterfeit merch with his skull logo on it, and the last bit of media he had was that shitty Netflix show
He had movies and the Netflix shit which made his first appearance shoot up and not sure why.
she is the best one, shame wat Dan Slott made with her.
based
The Shocker is may favorite of his Rogue's gallery, and is stronger than most people give him credit for.
>Can you think of any new villains to add to his rogues gallery with gimmicks that haven't been done yet?
>New Villians
I'd actually like a minor villain like Rocket Racer, someone who isn't evil but are committing crimes to help someone close to them. Maybe some sort of high tech thief who occasionally fights both heroes and villains to steal their tech and add it to their arsenal (think Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy). It starts off innocent enough with them doing so to help pay a terminally ill family member, but soon morphs into an ego driven things, with said villain becoming more and more extreme. I mean hell you could even make them asian and just call them Gilgamesh...
>Favorite artists
Ditko and Romita, I feel its an uncanny natural progression, as teen Spiderman was spindly while Romita's adult Spiderman was pretty swole. While it was just their own artistic preference, it feels like there's a sense of progression with Peter, with him becoming more built after more and more encounter's with villains. To the point that its jarring for me to look at a spindly adult Spider Man...
I wish we could have a good, intimidating Scorpion.
I came up with a few ideas to fix him
Like what?
I posted this in another thread but it was mainly
>Gargan stops being an idiot.
>Cognitive reasoning improves based on his own treatment/venom no longer impairing him
>Gets his criminal record wiped from said case blaming the treatment
>Sues Jonah for kicks
>Joins the NYPD as a resident "superhero" formerly recognized by the state of NY
>It's all bullshit. He's now Kingpin's personal enforcer on the force, and ringleader to dirty cops
>Public now loves him
>Theme is that he's poisoning everything good Peter tries to uphold
>Frog and The Scorpion fable likeness in which Gargan is destructive by nature, even if it means his own demise. This in turn mirrors Peter in a "What if Peter was a suicidal self destructive dick after Ben died"? Or to put it another way, similar to Deadshot's character
>Joe Kelly needs an ongoing
Joe Kelly and Chris Bachalo we’re going to be doing Spider-Man Non-Stop before this whole Covid-19 BS started up, bumbs me out because I had that on my pull list.
Given today’s climate, I’d say Carrion is a pretty underrated villain, and I’d like to see more of Styx and Stone ever since they got revamped during Kelly’s Spider-Man and Deadpool, also, more Itsy would be great.
As for my favorite Spidey runs? Damn man, there is a lot to pick from, but I’m going to have to go with Gauntlet / Grim Hunt, the Rihno story and all of Spidey’s classic villains returning in spectacular fashion just sold it for me
>favorite artists
Ramos. His cartoony style fits the character and I prefer it to more realistic takes. The "realistic" marvel and dc house styles are so fucking boring
So for Kindred guesses we have:
- Part pf Peter's soul
- Harry
- Gwen
- Randy
Those would be the main guesses right?
I've seen some people throw around others like Gabriel, Flash, even Carlie, but I'm not sure if any of those actually make all that much sense.
Did anyone else have this as a kid, and was it not the best fucking thing ever?
Haven’t we already seen Kindred years ago tho?
No? That was a completely different guy called the Pitiful One, who was implied to just be some Z-list villain who died.
>tfw spidey and deadpool never got to spitroast this chick
Randy!
I can’t say that I’m super familiar with the character, so correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t he the guy who got Mysterio out of hell to begin with? Spencer absolutely loves bringing back Z-listers and having them do something fantastic, look at Blackout during Secret Empire, did anyone even remember Blackout was a villain? Or how about when he brought Big-Man back? Superior Foes was all about the less than A-list villains (sorry Herman). It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Spencer brought this guy back as Kindred with a mad-on for spidey now since Mephestio has shifted his focus to Deadpool for ruining his plans at the end of Kelly’s arc of SM/DP
Explain why Stormin' fucking Norman should only be used so little
He's saying that Norman showing up in costume should be a big fucking deal.
No, that's wrong. Mysterio was still dead at the end of that. It was never revealed who brought Mysterio back to life (he showed up in Friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, but was still not actually alive, just a ghostly spirit with a hole in his head, he was later brought back fully back to life sometime during brand new day)
And the Kindred reveal has to be a big one, a Z list villain from an X-statix book would be disappointing for literally everyone.
>It was never revealed who brought Mysterio back to life
Until Kindred was revealed I mean.
That's really cool user.
You forgot Liz Allen
why the hell would Liz even be an option???
I would love to see like Norman Osborn or Big Man in the next movie if they make a next movie
I have been thinking of buying it for a while.
>There at the scene
>Part of the Osborn Family through marriage/Parentage which means...
>Has a reason to hate Norman
>Civil War unmasking era shows that her reaction to Peter being Spider-Man is to blame him for being the cause of everything wrong on her/her families life
Anyway she makes a lot more sense then Randy whose entire place on the suspect list is down to
>Dude he was there when the run started
Spot. Including his cap america and hulk shooting his parents in an alleyway.
The tinkerer
Absorbing man crusher creek including waifu whos deathly afraid of spiderman
Kraven
Madame webb as a semi antagonist
Silvermane. Hes very topical.
Hydroman
Beetle
Speed devil
To who. Norman fucking has always sucked. Harry was better and had more pathos
>Spiderman
>can’t name Titania
>”Speed Devil”
Is this marvel 919?
It was really cool as a kid. I'm not sure when they last time they updated it was so it could be missing a lot of stuff. I did a lot of drawing from the art in that book.
I wish they had stuff like that but more current. I remember my library had a batman one to, and that's was pretty dope.
Got it young and got rid of it young, dumb. Good shit though.
