>The guy who played (IIRC) Raphael actually attended my dojo in his teens
>He visited when I was ~6 or 7
>We already had a signed photo of him in the suit
>Pretty cool guy, but wasn't there for even an hour before he had to leave; he just gave a motivational speech or something
>Could split his fingers apart like he had to in the suit and shook everyone's hands that way
>I thought it was so fucking cool that I trained my hands how to do that over the course of about a month and a half
>My parents thought I was getting into Star Trek

Weird times...

>watched the movies
>watched the 2003 version
>watched the 2012 version
>watched the 2018 version
>still can't get past the first season of 80s turtles or read the comics

IDW comics are good. Chapter 50 is one of my favorites of all time.

>Do you feel old yet?
I turned 40 last week, what do you think?

pork rind?

I hear the recent years IDW comics are good. Could anyone recommend them or insight on where to start/what I'm in for?

By the rate new meaningfull media comes out i feel like im getting younger, spend way more time reading/watching everything i missed out.

Start with issue 01. You're welcome.

BOSSA NOVA.

I think the reason the first film in particular works so well is because Eastman and Laird wrote it rather than just being consultants or something

>because Eastman and Laird wrote it

[citation needed]

>turtles get their asses kicked
>in a huddle
>"Ok, at what point did we lose control here"
>Shredder confidently chilling in the background
Also
>Tracy's "oops" and casually throwing the lever on the trash compactor
Always makes me laugh

>Tracy's

Tracy's because's my's phone's auto's correct's you's autist's
>inb4's phone's

Chevy Nova?

Excellent!

This guy knows where Splinter is...

The E&L comics are great if you just accept that they're violent, grittier Daredevil homages.

>Ah, the rat! So it has a name
>I t h a d a n a m e

You liiiiie!

>Ah, the rat! So it has a name. ... It HAD a name.
>YOU LIE!
>... Do I?
There has never been a Shredder more badass since, not even in his own movie canon.

Do I?

AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Those shots look really good. Does it still hold up?

It sure does. Give it a watch. One of the best comic book movies to this day.

The 2003 one was pretty badass.

What makes it still one of the best superhero fights is how much it’s defined by their characters. Literally everything about the rooftop fight is either character development or tells you everything about everyone on that roof. Everything from Shredder’s simple movements and mind games to Leo managing to hurt Shredder to Raph dropping his weapons first, everything about that fight is character based.
Fuck I want to go watch that movie again, it’s so good.

I'll be 38 in a little over a month.
Recall going to see this in the theaters as a kid.

This. Live action 1990 Shredder is still by and far the best version of Shredder.

I really hated the Utrom twist, but even then I felt like his presence was more “Saturday morning villain” compared to the movie version’s genuinely threatening demeanor and movements.

People always give me shit for it, but I still say it’s one of the best comic based superhero movies out there. It’s a perfect adaptation in terms of combining all the elements of every Turtle Property at the time.

>Do you feel old yet?

No. But any one of you who does feel old? Please kill yourselves. To hell with all of you and your mothers.

I didn't mind the Utrom twist. I mean I do prefer my Shredder being human if I have the choice but yeah, I respect your opinion.

i'm with you there, buddy

My issue with the twist was that it felt like the entire dynamic with Shredder became convoluted. It changed a simple story into a needless “saving the universe” story that made the Shredder feel less personal. I also always felt that Shredder being a human made him scarier and more compelling, because in universes with aliens, mutants, and monsters, Saki’s will and skill kept him the most dangerous.
But to each his own.

I agree with you but at the same time I think it's a fun idea that has a lot of potential. Granted, I'm not saying that they took advantage of the idea and pushed it in the best possible direction. So I'm not arguing against you there, but I'm assuming you understood that. But, I will say, we were talking about Shredder being badass. And I do think the armor had a pretty badass look if we are talking design. Again, I probably prefer the normal one over this. But I still think it looks really cool.

i'm the same age as this movie. i've literally loved the ninja turtles since i was two years old or so, and i don't remember if i saw the cartoon or this movie first. this film is still the absolute best incarnation of the TMNT. comics, shows, movies, none of them can top it.

So how come in all the cartoons leo is the one who gets out numbered and crippled by the foot clan but in the movie raph?

Because Raph is the most overrated turtle and being the most overrated means he gets the most exposure in ALL media. And kill yourself nigger.

>40
Nigga what the fuck are you still doing here?
>inb4 you're here forever
I know, but still.
There's gotta be other shit you could be doing than wasting time here like a young twat like me.

Attached: OH FUCK.jpg (174x250, 6K)

Still has one of my favorite battle themes.

So they gave raph the solo vs full foot clan fight becuase he was turtle wolverine?

I'm 34 and I've been here since this place started. You really are here forever.

That is correct nigger.

I feel like you can theoretically do that fight with any of the turtles, so long as the end result is one of them getting their ass whooped badly.
I feel like if they did it with Mikey it'd have more meaning to it.

In the original comic, Mikey is the most pissed off about Leo being jumped. The movie almost kept a scene from the arc, where Mikey beats the shit out of the punching bag.

Kill yourself.

>he thinks he can leave

>leaving
I've been trying to leave for months now, and I'm sure there are those who have been trying longer.

Kill yourself.

One day you'll think back on this post and laugh. It won't be a happy laugh, but you'll laugh all the same.

>Casey straight-up attempts to murder Shredder
Based.

Kill yourself.

Well here, let me climb into a trash compactor and you flip the switch, John Kramer.

ive been reading about the deleted scenes from this movie and i really think there needs to be an uncut release of this movie.

Someone needs to suck Steve Barron's dick to get the scenes.

Tracy*

cute joke
let me tell you something; 2004 here....
YOU
DONT
LEAVE
EVER

why?
have you BEEN on the internet in the last 10 years? its been worse and worse, shrinking and shrinking, less and less places i can talk about shit without logging in.

i used to have a favorites folder with all the places i visited in 2005. i went to no less than 20 different sites with different things to see.
now?

i couldn't hope to name you that many that still exist or haven't shuffled onto youtube.
