It is the Yas Forums way. It is a classic case of "what gets popular". Sure, a lot of his writing is weak but this is the process. People have done it with Bendis or Geoff Johns.

I personally feel like he's constantly straddling the line between acceptable edgelordery and a Linkin Park song, but all I've read is his Venom and Thor.

Yas Forums hates him because he is successful. They hate him because he single-handedly turned Venom, a series that was struggling with getting good sales for the past couple of years into a book that is consistently reaching the Top 20s of the Comic book sales reports. Venom is so successful that it spawned a series of one-shots, an event (with another one coming later this year) and another ongoing featuring Scream that expand on the story he's writing. They hate him because even Cosmic Ghost Rider, a character that was supposed to be canon fodder became so popular that he got 3 mini-series.

And to make matters worse, he also has learned Hickman's tactics into mind-breaking people and turning them into the next generation of TommyLindo. No, I'm not joking when I'm saying that. These posts here are from the Comic book sales reports threads where this poor fuck would go CATES BAD for several months straight. Why? Because his books sells well! and it turned out he was a fan of Immortal Cuck and Carl Manvers. Not that surprising really.

I don't hate him. His Venom has been pretty solid (up until around issues #19) and I thought Absolute Carnage was actually good as far as events go. His GOTG and Thor have been trash, though.

I like his writing most of the time except for Venom.

I still have no idea why everyone was sucking this comic's dick for so long. He got Eddie's, the symbiote's, and Carnage's characterization all wrong. Each issue ends with nothing but shock value cliff hangers that usually resolve themselves instantly or are dropped all together. It just doesn't feel like Venom at all. Hell Venom is barely in it. Its mostly about Eddie Brock or who ever this guy calling himself Eddie is.

Death of the Inhumans was fun and so far Thor looks interesting. Just keep the man away from Venom.
