Why is Steven mentally ill? Its not like he actually suffered anything really traumatic. He didn't get raped or abused as a child. He had three doting and loving nonbinary space rocks watch over him and he loved every adventure he went on. Why was he such an emotionfag?
Why is Steven mentally ill? Its not like he actually suffered anything really traumatic...
>Another Steven Universe thread
Fuck off.
Hero complex. He cracked once he wasn't getting attention
Hey mom I didn’t know you posted on Yas Forums.
>He didn't get abused as a child
uwot
Yes, depression to that extent without a direct cause is usually a form of mental illness
There are other ways of getting childhood trauma than receiving your uncle's dick up your ass, user.
It’s because he was raised by trannys so he inherited their mental illness
>you cannot feel any negative emotions unless you were raped
user even being ironically retarded still makes you retarded.
Not parentally abused but by others that were aiming for the kill. It’s really stressed him out.
Didn't seem to until SUF
No. Im saying you cant experience PTSD unless you go through a traumatic event
This seems like the most likely explanation.
>He didn't get raped or abused as a child.
>He almost died multiple times.
OP Retard
He didn't get trauma until he was 16
That's a little late for stuff when he was like 3
He's allowed to vent, I'm cool with that. What gets out of hand each time are his gem powers multiplying his outbursts to dangerous levels.
Steven was and still is a great danger to the known universe, and hugs and kisses just don't do it for me. I wish they at least TALKED about his mother, if they're adamant on never giving such an important character zero lines after her big reveal.
Because he was written by a mentally-ill social justice freakshow of a woman. Life in general is seen as traumatizing with every small little bump in the road as victimizing.
They did a few episodes showing it was stressing him out
Look at this thing. Look at it.
And you wonder why a fictional character created by this looney cunt would make sense?
Cope
You cope and seethe. Stop defending this feelgood politically correct calarts shitfest.
Because he was written by a SJW. Red-pilled Steven would have protected the planet's borders properly and not be a little bitch about it.
This. There were multiple episodes showcasing that stuff was effecting Steven. Even during season 1 the episode "The Test" showed him willing to lie and pretend everything's fine so the gems wouldn't be upset their challenges for him fucking sucked.
Go dilate
Most boys that age would see his "traumas" as adventures. Steven had too much bitch in him.
He didn't? He didn't go on Crystal Gem missions until the show started.
so your just gonna ignore the kidnapping, the attempted murder, the imprisonment, his entire life being based on Pearl's lies and him getting literally ripped in half?
That's not even the half of it
Fuck off.
No you see I don't like Steven Universe so those don't matter. Anime twitter did this but unironically when Growing Pains first aired.
All of those things except for Pearl's lies were a fun adventure to him
>not parentally abused
Pearl had been emotionally abusing him since season 1 projecting her need for Rose onto him and making him try to be her.
I don't know. Why don't you ask this question in the numerous other Steven threads that already exist?
>Implying Pearl didn't rape him with nonconsensual handjobs in his sleep
Hasn't he died a handful of times in the show, or otherwise had people trying to kill or abduct him? It's a far cry from a peaceful life my dude
No, he was quite bummed about being imprisoned and didn’t care for being attacked
All things that happen to 99% of adventure story protagonists and they don't turn into weepy messes in need of therapy.
if you were paying attention you would realize he stopped thinking his life was a fun adventure vaguely after he met Lapis and definitely after Jasper kidnapped him
Don't you remember how he tried to cut out Connie because he didn't want her to be in the same type of danger he realized he would be in for the rest of his life?
He had a blast running around the prison ship.
He's dealt with all his trauma as it happened fairly well
That's why it's so strange that it bothers him all of a sudden. I feel like he didnt earn his depressive episode this time, they treat it like this is the first time Stevens been sad in his life
Oh no! The main character was thrown into a jail by the bad guy until he was able to escape! Better schedule those cry sessions in his safe space.
Have you SEEN Alien Force?
>Ben 10
Kek
which is a criticism of those shows for ignoring the reality of how a life of life and death conflict messes people up, your basically arguing that SU is unrealistic because it isn't like other fiction.
>he didn't get abused
He's literally been fighting monsters and getting his ass whooped in life threatening events on a day to day basis.
Id say almost dying multiple times is pretty traumatic. Like even outside of the monster of the week shit Steven probably would be canonically dead if it wasn't for his healing powers.
And he has superpowers
This isn't even good bait
which changes what exactly?
most things that attacked him had the same or similar powers
its like asking how a soldier with a gun would be traumatized by other people with guns, i mean you have a gun too, what's to be freaked out about?
That's fucking retarded. Realism in stories isn't inherently good; it's a quality that can be beneficial for some stories and detrimental to others, and strict adherence to it would limit the types of stories that can be told.
Oh please. Connie, Greg, and even the townies arguably went through similar shit, and they don't even have godlike gem powers. Greg was abducted, Connie was nearly drowned to death, Lars actually literally fucking DIED. You don't see any of them whining.
Ok Steven has OP gary stu powers and can just heal himself every time something goes wrong. With jasper even shattered gems can be brought back
But He WAS raped, remember that graphic scene where Amethyst raped Steven with her MEGA horsecock in front of Connie for like 11 minutes?
see now you're just changing the argument
first the trauma is unrealistic, now realism is bad
fuck off if all you wanna do is move the goal post
Yeah and they grow up to be retards. :/
>Its not like he actually suffered anything really traumatic
They literally went through a montage of times he almost died in Growing Pains, including the time he watched a room full of time-duplicates of himself die.
I think Connie had a PTSD thing with that kid she hurt, Lars was bitching the entire time in space until he became some kind of pirate, and Greg spent a long ass time being creeped out by Gem shit
Pearl was a fucked up parental figure most of the time. Her mental freakouts and neurotic behavior - all revolving around him because she wanted to fuck his mom and kept seeing him as his mom, could be considered emotionally abusive.
>Greg spent a long ass time being creeped out by Gem shit
Wasn't it just shapeshifting because of what Amethyst did?
>see now you're just changing the argument
I'm not OP
>now realism is bad
Not at all what anyone said.
What's bad about how Future Steven's supposed PTSD was written is that almost none of the supposedly traumatic events were presented as leaving Steven any lasting psychological trauma in the original series and so having them cause Steven PTSD is horribly tonally inconsistent.
it was definitely emotionally abusive
remember that time Pearl let Steven fall to his death and did nothing about it?
Or that time she tried to kidnap him and take him away from his father forever?
>the trauma wasn't super obvious at first therefore it didn't exist
I mean you're just wrong that he never showed evidence of trauma originally, but even if that was true your arguments just wrong, its like you think people can't repress feelings at first only to have them cause problems later
