The direction was good, but I assume that was due to wholesale taking techniques of old samurai movies, the animation just didn't feel impactful. None of the hits felt like they were slicing through flesh, just added a bad blood effect on an object going through a 3D model. I've seen the same problem with some videogames. Compare this to say, Hotel Transylvania and it's pretty obvious the studio isn't great with CG animation. Like seriously, none of the hits felt like they had impact, and the one time Samurai Rick jumped he felt super floaty(and not in the intentional wire-work floaty way of some martial arts movies, if they did that that's kinda cool)

Overall appreciate the effort, but they could have chosen a better studio that was better suited to animating with CG. If it had to be CG, couldn't they get the one that's making BEASTARS?
