>steven spends the series fighting monsters and going on adventures
>spends the two year timeskip traveling to alien planets and dealing with interstellar politics
>the finale is him leaving his family to become a wagecuck in nebraska
How exactly is this a logical or cathartic ending?
Steven spends the series fighting monsters and going on adventures
Because he desperately wanted normality and now he has the one thing Rose wanted for him:
He's being a human being.
>wagecuck
More of a vagabond. His father's still(?) a fucking millionaire so he's not going to be on a tight budget on this journey.
Don't worry, Jasper gave Steven a taste of real fighting. After Connie breaks up with him to "discover herself" at college he'll become a fighting autist like Goku.
What do you want him to do? Become a ripoff Lars of the Stars or something?
He's always been a human. That's what I thought the whole point of the show early on was all about. The kid's a human wanting to be someone else he couldn't possibly reach, but succeeds in achieving the same goal in an ultimately human (Steven) way.
But the only reason why he's not a human being is because Sugar and the gang kept forcing him to only interact with extremely abstract weirdos, hysterical women, and hedonistic teenagers.
Peedee is just right there but he never spoke to him again ONCE.
>Because he desperately wanted normality
No he didn't. He bitched at his dad about wanting a "normal life" when he was in the middle of a mental breakdown but that is the exactly opposite of his character motivations up to this point. You can't just change the MCs character motivations in the last six episodes of the series and call it good writing.
>now he has the one thing Rose wanted for him
Rose didn't want him to be a wagecuck.
>He's being a human being.
Wagecucks aren't human.
There's a reason why we look up to extraordinary humans like Leonardo Da Vinci, Alexander The Great, Socrates, Jesus, etc. While we look down on humans who squander their potential and are ok with surviving instead of living.
Jasper deserved better
How exactly is visiting a bunch of boring USA towns exciting or fulfilling compared the life Steven has?
Nothing Steven does would've been possible without Pink Diamond. Her powers are what allow him to accomplish everything he does, her philosophy is what drives the show and without her you don't get things like Little Homeworld, her sacrifice was what finally broke White Diamond and got her to change.
Steven accomplishes what he does because he's a gem and more specifically because he's Pink Diamond. Without his gem he'd be as useless ad Peedee.
Steven shouldn't have turned his anger towards himself. He should have seen the world around him for the bullshit that it was. He's going to travel the country outside of the backwater tourist trap he grew up in, see how dystopian it is (if it's anything close to our world) and all his emotional instability will come back to the surface, only it'll be directed outward. He'll find every angle of unfair advantage, bribe the officials and kill all the judges, and it'll take them years to recover from all of the damage.
So doing great deeds like saving the universe doesn't qualify as human?
I hate this modern message of being content with mediocrity instead of striving for greatness. We'll never colonize Mars with that shit attitude.
Awesome! Are you a Family Guy writer?
>But the only reason why he's not a human being is because Sugar and the gang kept forcing him to only interact with extremely abstract weirdos, hysterical women, and hedonistic teenagers.
I agree with yo....
>Peedee is just right there but he never spoke to him again ONCE.
Fuck off Peedeefag
That's why I never got The Hobbit. What's the point of having a fantasy setting if you're just going to conclude "conformity equals happiness for everyone"?
What if that's not the real finale and this is just how they got rid of Steven because everyone agreed that him and the townies were the worst part of the whole show? The new main character is now Peridot.
I think Steven could use a little less of that excitement right now.
>Because he desperately wanted normality
He wanted to be a giant woman.
Yeah because the best thing someone with PTSD can do is leave their comfortable life and support network of friends and family to travel the United States as a hobo.
yeah but no joke in like a year or whatever they might do liek what that one future batmankid from the old batman show(i forget the names i hope you can interpret my stupidity) with a all gem team or a single human representative with a team of gems (to mirror the original show) donig their own(mostly) thing
its more likly than other i say cause if cartoon network)or whoever owns the show) put enough faith into it to make a movie then they might try to milk a spinoff show later down the line when their idea bucket is a bit empty
>A mentally ill teen who has never lived on his own leaves his entire support structure full of magic and weirdly nice people to go hang out in the real world for a while
This is a bad ending.
Steven is going to fucking shoot himself.
>Steven is going to fucking shoot himself.
So, a happy ending then.
Exactly what I was thinking. The final episode seemed more like an excuse to make the audience say "goodbye" to the characters. They didn't even say what he's going to do next or WHY he's leaving.
i think i would be pretty miserable living in a town run by corrupted gems, i dont blame him for wanting to get away
They're not corrupted anymore.
And what's wrong with that? Humans also live there as well.
He already had his own home, I don't understand why he wouldn't want to come back there.
my headcanon is that hes only going to be gone for a couple years and then come back as buff steven
>as buff steven
That aside (I think I'd be indifferent to it, although I like cute Steven) this is what I hope as well. The finale wasn't satisfying though. It just makes me worried about what the writers thought, as most of Future did. I'm curious as to what happens next and I want to see him happy.
i think it is very unfair to show stevens broken mind and body, and then just skip a week and act like hes able to handle living on his own. he is way too fucked up to not be under watch
>>the finale is him leaving his family to become a wagecuck in nebraska
Stories are about the exciting bits that are good for reader. WW2, people dying of disease, getting in a serious fight and getting badly injured, these all make for exciting stories but they make for shitty lives. Settling down to raise a family, meet up with friends and live peacefully.
But then most people won't have that in Western society, work to afford housing, consume products and get replaced by imported consumers.
Steven wanting to travel America looking for a new place to settle down as an ending is pretty okay. Fits with the themes of Future pretty well.
It's the kind of ending I can easily see continued in a comic series or something, though who knows if that may happen. In another way I'm just glad that as of now, Steven Universe is actually over. Finished. Ended. It's a weird feeling.
PLEASE does anyone have a link to the last two episodes, I couldn't watch live and can't find them where I usually do
sug.rocks
>Steven wanting to travel America looking for a new place to settle down as an ending is pretty okay
Yeah because the best thing someone with PTSD can do is leave their comfortable life and support network of friends and family to travel the United States as a hobo.
>wanting to travel America
i'm ok with this
>looking for a new place to settle down permanently away from his family and friends except maybe connie when she's done with school
this bothers me quite a bit
He's already been Hug no Jutsu'd by the whole main cast then Kiss no Jutsu'd by Connie though so his PTSD melted away. He's all good now.
but he has a therapist now
That too. He's all good!
>sug.rocks
:( link is dead
I mean what would Steven even find interesting in America? After traveling to alien planets and seeing amazing sights like Lapis' water powers would seeing the largest rubber band ball really be worth a trip across country?
Steven has always been interested in the mundane rather than the fantastic. You saw how excited he is over books
A video chat therapist isn't a replacement for your friends and family.
no it isn't
it works for me
i can link you the tv rips from there
mega.nz
or
openload.cc
or
1fichier.com
but they have the cn logo and that's dumb
>always
that's a lie, he was really excited about magic stuff early on
he could get a new hobby or something, but i don't think leaving permanently was necessary for that
>Steven has always been interested in the mundane rather than the fantastic
Are you trolling or just stupid? Steven has always been more interested in gem stuff than human stuff. Rewatch the series.
If Steven misses his support group, Lion can teleport them to whereever he is. Or a video chat will do
>In the end, we really do live in a Steven Universe
Except the show makes it clear that he's leaving forever and never coming back. Steven even says "I probably won't come back". Also Lion isn't even around half the time and if he wonders off Steven has no way of getting in contact with him.
I want some interview where the writers explain what they were thinking.
Lars
>39 States in The US
Rebecca wait
Wait Rebecca
Rebecca no, wait what are YOU DOING!?!?
he clearly wants to hold onto his humanity as the series goes on. the weight of the gem stuff becomes too much after a while
Steven feeling angst over being a half-breed has been one of the major sources of drama in the show. However Steven has always been more connected and interested in his Gem side than his human side, he wants to be a Crystal Gem not a powerless loser like the townies. The only time the idea that he wanted to live a "normal life" was introduced was in Mr Universe and completely changing your character's motivations in the last six episodes of the show is shit writing.
Steven rejecting his gem side to become a wageslave in some random all human town far away from Beach City is a bad end. You deal with your stress and keep moving forward, you don't run away from your problems and go live in a hole.
He’s still got a Gem, he’s not rejecting anything, he’s just sightseeing, he wasn’t ever gonna be Diamond king or some shit
Growing up means leaving your family and working hard at something while in love. NEETs do not understand this.
He's leaving Beach City forever to settle down far away in an all human town, didn't you watch the episode?
I can understand getting your own house, what I don't understand is permanently moving to another state for no reason.
Steven was working hard to create Little Homeworld and traveling to planets to solve gem problem, giving that up to become a plumber in Bumfuckberg is horrible.
I was thinking this too but you just have to remember that their world isn't our world - it's like horseshow world everyone's nice and anyone who isn't can be won over with a song and dance.
Fucking off from all of your friends and family to move halfway across the continent to simp for a girl who will probably leave you in a few years is a really bad idea.
Maybe if he had like a job plan or plans to move back with Connie after college wrapped up then it wouldn't ring as so retarded to me.
>I'm still not sure if I'm going to major in political science with a minor in sociology, or major in sociology with a minor in poli sci.
I don't know why I've seen some people say Connie will support Steven. She's going to end up as a waitress with those meme degrees, Steven meanwhile can make tons of cash by healing plants and animals or even just using his shields and super-strength in moving or construction. If he got his TV dream powers under control he could make entire movies from thin air, could you imagine how much Disney or Warner Bros would pay to get their hands on that ability?
Yes.
Why the literal fuck would he chose to spent his time in some retarded flyover state when he could unironically explore the universe?
so when the show comes back in 5 years, he isnt going to go back home? i really doubt that
The final episode has a time-skip of a few months. That doesn't totally fix it but it's better than a week.
In the inevitable Steven Universe reboot Steven will be replaced by a black transsexual and the main villain will be a Trump stand in who wants to deport all gems from earth.
