How does one build an audience as an animator on YouTube? Some friends and I have decided to start and don't know what it takes.

You make animations and then an audience forms.

Appeal to the coomers, it’s the most straightforward road to success.

You be a self-aggrandizing, unfunny retard who enthuses wildly about normal things.

Don't go in it for the money. There is absolutely not a lick of money to be had doing animations on youtube anymore. You do it because it's a hobby you enjoy and you be thankful you get the hundred views you do.

This but unironically. Just get a voice modulator and pretend to be a girl, and you'll get flocks of simps and tons of porn of your OC.

Doing things FOR fame is the reason why you aren't famous yet. People can smell cheap whores a mile away.

Oh it's not about money. I just want people to engage with

Cheap whores can smell pretty good tho

Then create said topic and animate what you feel would make for an interesting topic. If you're unable to comprehend that, you'll need to work on your social abilities.

How good are your felatio skills?

do you have an animation channel?

be a le quirky gamer girl

below average, desu.

What was your first try like?

not OP but what if the cartoon consists of mostly male characters?

Just make it really really gay Inb4 the leather club is two blocks down

Start 4 years ago, being the first offer an advantage.

Don't understand why you're asking that. I do, but that doesn't concern the topic at hand.

can i see it?

If you wanna get in the youtube game you've gotta produce content with clockwork regularity, simple as that.

If you're going for storytime animations, just make shit up.

this

Produce a volume of content omna regular schedule, aggressively self-promote, collaborate with other established youtubers, etc.

No, you appeal to coomers by not looking like you're trying to appeal to coomers. You get significantly more viewership and appeal by playing the role of an e-girlfriend than you do as a camgirl

Jaiden is storytelling. You watch it for stupid stories or because you're an orbiter, but sure as hell not for the animation.
Same goes for everyone that is known, because is right, real animation just requires too much time to be profitable on YouTube, unless you do porn commissions, of the furry variety.

So you really need to specify what your target is, being a storyteller, a female storyteller or an animator that doesn't talk, because you go very differently about each one of these and of course some are (way) easier than others.

The rule of YouTube is don't do anything you wouldn't be embarrassed by as an adult. The most successful Youtubers are unapologetically child-like. And do it at least three times per week, ten minutes per video minimum.

there's something to this. No matter what it is, have some excitement about your topic. To you and me, this will seem excessive, and like over-reacting, or acting up. However, people would rather listen to someone who is energetic about something than someone who is low energy. Well, maybe "VERY LOW ENERGY", maybe there's a way to do low energy well, but I think it's harder.

are you doing animated-vlogging, or actual animated videos? Real animation is gonna be harder and more costly to make. The only surviving youtube animators almost exclusively make shitposts/lol-random style comedy videos, so you'll have to fit in if you want an audience.

Storytime animating is much easier. The most important part is having a good avatar. If you can do that just make-up fake but believable stories, or exaggerate events from your past.

this

Jaiden if your in here your a hapa qt and every time you post a video of your voice I jack off to it at night. It’s asmr to sooth my self. There’s somthing about this mexiasain girl that I get off to. If your lurking I’ll know jaiden just so you know I’ve seen you in person and made contact aswell. Let’s just say the night we had after wards was passionate.

be girl

You can't, I've fallowing YouTube for around ten years now and I’ve learned some things about this site. The one most basic rule is that one cannot try and predict the algorithm, not even the people who made it know how it exactly works and as such you can only guess. It’s confusing in all ways, to say that Jaiden and Odds were the first story times is both absolutely right and 100 percent wrong. You might get popular or not, even if you were on the cusp of trend. From what I currently know the meta is no longer on youtube animators, see the VA of Gumball who quit animation to rather stream minecraft. Though seeing as gaming was unprofitable till around last summer might mean animation might once again have a second wind or not.

animation takes too long to make
the algorithm demands multiple posts per week

Though if I had to give advice, if you can speak a second language that helps a lot, you can even still speak English still just use a vpn so the site thinks your there. Also being a female and being interesting but also mundane with your stories.

what about the hentai anime camgirl?

Be a lazy fuck and reference old shit, make it super ugly and give them le funny voice XDXD like MeatyCanyion

don't forget to make drug references. the kids like that.

1) Be good at your craft. You don't need to be Winsor McCay, but have some base-level skill as an artist.
2) Make videos that people will want to click on and watch. Clickbait isn't the unforgivable sin that some make it out to be, so long as whoever "bit," so to speak, doesn't feel duped.
3) You will be arrested and charged with terrorism for coughing in public.
4) Network like a madman. The YouTube Algorithm™ will only carry you so far. Find creators with a similar audience to your own and make your collaboration worth their while in some way. Odds are best if they like your work.

there is no reason not to make your talking head a cute girl and to have her be barefoot at all times

not OP, but its a good place for networking right?

first you make animations and people come. Then you turn it into animated vlogs about your life
this
nope.

Dont bitch about YouTube Algorithm and dont ask people to sub/ring the bell, etc they know it all from elsewhere and feel better about people who dont remind them of it.

dont shill. meaning no shadow raids legends, etc. if 30% of your vid is an ad, im not coming back.

Fuck getting an audience, do what inspires you and work hard doing it and then put it out only when you know it's absolutely perfect in any way.
Fuck expectations, if you get an audience don't pander to them and don't even bother listening to a single thing they have to say.
Art isn't about doing what someone else tells you to, it's about doing your own thing and dropkicking anyone talking shit about it

Trust me buddy, it's hard... especially if you aren't trying to be a storytime animator. My brother and I have been doing this shit for a year and a half, and have, like, 200 subscribers. Granted, our stuff is kinda... bad, and we only put out like 4 vids a year, but still. The workload is pretty huge. And you'll be at each other's throats most of the time, even if you get along super, super well.

whats your channel? Fuck it ill sub

That stupid algorithm is shown to be responsible for 70% or more of all viewership, so honestly it WILL carry you completely and you'll go nowhere without it.

Remember their algorithms also decide if you subscribers get notified so you can lose it all on a dime.

Thx user, you got a channel? I'll sub back

youtube.com/channel/UCgpU2eZOAESfi-jjENUIMww? ion really upload like that, just kinda make playlists of stuff.

Your stuff seems good so far, the only thing i can say is to work an the in between animations.

thanks, and yeah, in between school and work, we barely have any time to animate, so we cut a toooon of corners. way too many, honestly... oh well

Wow I didn't know Yas Forums had a Youtube board!

>the leather club is two blocks down
fuck you

Schizophrenic ESL hands typed this post.

>asks a bunch of anonymous people with no following, no idea how to animate, who excessively unfunny and unpersonable for advice on how to be an appealing content creator
If this was your best idea then I think you've already failed

>playing shitheads to tell you what they were giving away for free 5 years go
Fuck off back to your Patreon, cunt nigga. There are always archives and base pirates

Are you responding to the right post? What does this have to do with what I said

Takes a lot of luck as well.

>tfw can animate but have no life so my story time animations would be garbage

Make the videos long before you post.
You need to have 1 ten minute video for 3 days of the week all year.
Have AMAZING animation, effects, i'm talking movie quality video edit skills.
AMAZING writing, Voice, emotion and physical abilities, again hollywood level.
Keep it fun, and not boring or too complex. Have charachters in you video, do voices. Try goods, be funny/do jokes, review tech. Learn whats popular on youtube. Have good backround music mixes. GREAT art.
The chances of you making it above the bottom 99% of losers on youtube who people don't know is about 1%.

kek, Imagine thinking any youtube animators do this.

I meant try foods, also stunts, do stupid stuff, challenges, exspirements, "random" crud. Just learn from whats popular now.

They usually hire sweatshop china workers to do it for them after they get a start at not being small. I think.

kek, Imagine thinking any chinese animators could have amazing anything.

Well if they get all their china friends to watch, thats up to One BILLION views.

Ever notice a lot of the popular animated people were simple basic white marshmellow blobs?
