I hope none of y’all liked a character that got introduced late such as Spinel. Because come Friday, you’ll never see Spinel ever again. Or a character that didn’t get enough screen time such as Jasper.

That leaves the door open for comics that don't continue the story so they could always have a bunch of stories like Season 1 episodes about the Gems fighting monsters.

and hearing the characters voices is such a big part of the appeal of Steven Universe. It just won’t be the same reading it.

In a couple of years they will make HBO Max specials. If they did it for Adventure Time, a show with a dead franchise, they will do it with SU, even if Sugar doesn’t want it.

The specials for Adventure Time are meant to be an epilogue to the series just like Future is for SU. Once those are all released, Adventure Time as an animated series is over. I don’t see SU getting that treatment.

As a franchise? No. As a story? Probably if there won’t be any sort of official releases that are canon.

She doesn't own the IP. CN (at the moment anyway) just respects her title as series creator and are aware of the shitstorm that would happen if they announced more episodes without her involvement.

I know some anons are celebrating su ending but don't you think that different companies will be jumping at the chance to hire sugar like netflix, hbo, etc to make a new show?

The final minute of AT was the epilogue for that show. And the descriptions for the plots showcase that it’s not meant to be an epilogue (except maybe for the Finn episode). There’s a whole episode about the past of PBs candy sidekick which will conclude nothing for that character, it’s just a fun idea for a special.

I can only hope she learns her mistakes from SU and does something better. If she makes something with the same quality as SU I don’t know if I will tolerate it.
As long as her new show has actual villains, consequences and doesn’t mistreat it’s characters it could be pretty good.

I think this pretty much marks the end of the '10s as far as animation goes, being as it's the last major long-runner from that era that's still around (aside from shows like TTG and Rick and Morty that will likely linger for the next decade).

SU just...stopped. There was no farewell panel, the VAs moved on, CNs final trailer reused clips from previously in the series (even one from the episode that just aired) and just some crew members are hyping it up. It’s pretty sad.

Consider this: When AT ended they knew comics were coming out and they probably started planning the HBO specials, so they knew there was something coming that it made it worth promoting the finale
It's pretty much confirmed outside merch this is likely the last SU piece of media made at the very least in a long time, if not ever

in this thread alone we've seen how many people don't want to accept it or are skeptical. To an extent it's for good reason since it feels like a week passed between the end of AT and the production of the new specials.

But that doesn't have to mean Rebecca's trying to do that same type of thing. CN could still make money out of the series without that easily - they still have DVDs and soundtracks to release.

CN wanted to BTFO SU since the first season but didn't want to deal with sjw screeching so they held out and badgered Glucose enough to where she ended the show on her own. SU is never coming back and thank the lord for that.
