It was all right, felt like a retread of the Gibbon issue, Spencer taking a B-lister and making him sympathetic.
Yeah, Larsen's Extreme Sinister Six.

>felt like a retread of the Gibbon issue, Spencer taking a B-lister and making him sympathetic.
It's a good shtick.

>Reed Richards fucks up once again by launching a rage-fueled creature into space

I'm getting tired of Ottley but I know his replacement would probably be even worse so I won't say anything. It's solid-to-great art, I've just had my fill is all.

gog had a rough life

>This guy, right?

He said the thing!

>Back to the hell they came from
I think that's a hint

Thanks, OP.

Thanks for the storytime. The issue was OK but this is not what I want from a Spider-Man series. Gil Kane's art was the saving grace of the original Gog story. I feel like this stuff doesn't belong in Amazing at all.

He's only around for one arc out of the year

Gleason was supposed to be the new artist and somehow he only made it one arc too

>It was all right, felt like a retread of the Gibbon issue, Spencer taking a B-lister and making him sympathetic.
Gibbon was always sympathetic since his first apperance.

>Peter gets Strange to send the tablet into another dimension
>Peter gets Reed to shrink and send an enemy he feels bad for back home
>This ends up causing a war that ultimately kills both sides, including Gog's owner, and him and the tablet coming back to Earth
Holy shit, the Parker luck isn't just trying to make sure he never resolves anything long term, but also cause him enourmous guilt if he finds out how it all went down.

Makes sense if you think about it. The thing has been chased by crime bosses and their enforcers, people whose business is literally crime, and people with good intentions for it's power. Everyone who gained power from it either lost it (Hammerhead), caused them a gruesome end (Silvermane) or caused them to regret using it (The alien mother in this issue). While the tablet has yellow/golden appearence that would usually represent something holy, it's also a common thing in stories where the devil or some other evil is shown as beautiful, amazing or better said, tempting, which does happen with the mother who was tempted and used it as a means to get back her planet.
The thing was actually created in hell but the ancients thought it was something related to another god or it was made by some chaotic deity.

Awesome! Thanks OP

Then you don't like Spider-Man. This issue is to remind you who Gog is and his history/relevancy to this tale

Revenge of the Sinister Six!

absolute dog shit
this writer is not understanding the appeal of spider-man at all

Hey look, dickhead is back

Its weird to give gog a sympathetic backstory but it was a nice issue, I wasn't able to pick this up today for obvious reasons but it'll be nice to add to my collection. Though I hope we start to get the late 80s and early 90s collected so I can read the other stories they talk about

You know getting Strange/Reed to get rid of your stuff NEVER FUCKING WORKS

I would like to add that in Kindred threads we've been assuming that Kindred had to be someone that had died and gone to hell or was otherwise hell related (OMD relations mostly). If the tablet by itself has a connection to hell then that means whoever uses it can theoretically go to hell.

I liked this issue but it would make more sense as a 42.1 issue rather than being a main issue

what the fucking fuck are you serious?

This reminds me of the Invincible 'origin' stories Nolan would do. Doesn't help Ottley is doing the art.

absolutely, more like a backup or something

Been reading it for 35 years.

Pretty sure she’s just calling Earth a Hell because it dumped the Tablets on her and thereby ruined everything.

Agree. But he needs to reach #50 for the Kindred reveal

His art gradually got worse too. I guess it's hard to keep consistency with this schedule

This issue is pretty much filler to be honest.
That's what you get with bimonthly comics.
This Gog backstory will probably never be acknowledged again, and this entire issue could've been told in way less than an entire issue

Oh god for a second I thought someone posted a page from invincible
