Based.

>Marvel Editors...you are the droppings of the creative world. You were destined to float in the cesspool till urine logged and finally sink to the bottom with the rest of the shit but along came Jim Shooter who rolled up his sleeves and rescued you.

>He gave you a title, respectability, power and even a credit card that you used and abused. He made you the highest payed Editors in the history of the business. He protected you against all that would tamper with your rights, your power and your pocketbook.

>He backed you against all Prima Donna free lancers no matter how big...his pockets were always open to you. No cry of help was too small for him to turn his back on.

>As heard in the "Brass" section of the company..."He never asked for anything for himself...always for his men."

>The roof over your head, the clothes on your back, the car you drive and the trinkets you buy for your blind wives and girlfriends you owe to the Pittsburg kid.

>For all he did for you...you repayed him by attacking him like a pack of yellow, prickless faggots. Ripping away his flesh from his body and laughing and pounding your chest like conquering ghouls and long after his bones were dry you continued to pour salt on them to squeeze every ounce of pain out of him.

>Not the slightest whimper or cry or tear came out of this man. With you still biting at his ankles, he put on his coat and walked away...Displaying more class and poise in defeat than all of you did in victory...Jesus had one Judas...Jim had many, those that speared him and worse, those that watched...

>I stuck by him and for that you've nailed me on the same cross...I thank you for that...It's an honor to be crucified with Jim Shooter...a man who none of you will ever be.

>he made the doped up hippies at marvel make deadlines
What a fucking monster!

Marvel was at its best under him

Based Jim.

I don't know much about Jim Shooter because I've never been interested in industry drama, but the impression I've gotten from Yas Forums is that he fixed a lot of Marvel's problems but also took it upon himself to fix things that weren't broken. Is that accurate?

Funny how Yas Forums jerks off Shooter while everyone else hates his editorial

He's a hack, like all EiCs

Byrne pls

Based Colletta.

You know, looking at all of Colletta's pages vs Kirby's original pencils, I do see a lot of corner cutting, but I also see just as many times where he saved Kirby's ass.

Not only did he make the trains run on time, some of the greatest runs of all time happened under his watch. Of course comic book readers love his time as EiC. If the creators don't like him that's their fucking problem, stroking the creators off has led to where we are today. Bottom line is he gave the readers what they wanted and that should be the goal of any comic book company.

I don't like Byrne either.
Yas Forums likes Gerber and he hated Shooter.
Basically just three runs Claremont's X-Men, Miller's Daredevil and Simonson's Thor. Meh otherwise.

>I don't like Byrne either
Faggot pls

Thomas was better

He just raped Kirby's creations

More or less. He also killed the original run of Heroes for Hire to make room for New Universe.

any self respecting comic book reader would rank those three marvel runs in their top five in all of comics.

Yes, he also had problems of his own as EiC and is largely responsible for the event and crossover craze that has plagued the past 30 years of Marvel.

Jim had no problems playing favorites or fucking around with titles and plots. He also enforced a bland, realistic style on pretty much all the arts (the Marvel House style) and required each issue to have characters state what their powers are, their relation to the other people appearing in the issue, and recap the plot. Shooter was the guy Marvel needed at the time, and he was pretty great at talent management, but outside of that he's pretty average as far as EiC's go.

>he made Jean Grey face consequences for committing genocide.
What a fucking monster!

Gerber was always too full of himself and couldn’t handle his affairs or deadlines even if his life depended on it. Really imaginative writer but geez.

He looks like if Mark Kermode was born a stocky Texan.

>came up with the idea of Parasite in 9th grade biology class
How many iconic comic book characters did you create when you were a 14 year old comic pro Yas Forums?

What was wrong with his face? Are those bad acne scars or what

Yes.

I'm guessing measles or something similar. Pock marks were fairly common before a lot of those childhood diseases had vaccines.

Kirby could make the top 5 by himself

He was ahead of Jokerfication.

>by himself
No

Fantastic Four
Thor
2001
The Eternals
Some meme run like Captain America or Black Panther
But you can make the top 5 with just the original Marvel stuff with Fantastic Four, Thor, Ditko's Amazing Spider-Man and Dr. Strange and Steranko's Shield. Claremont's X-Men might bee too important to omit from the top 5.

The old man from UP?

Now do the stuff he actually did on his own.

He did, Stan.

>she's never read his shitty DC work or his 70s Captain America after being fired from DC
ok Roz

His DC work was his best work.

Shooter took over EIC in 1978
Tomb of Dracula-Marv Wolfman quit Marvel and Tomb was cancelled when Shooter insisted Wolfman can no longer edit the book
Master of Kung Fu-Doug Moench quit Marvel and MOKF was cancelled when Shooter insisted on drastic changes that Moench objected to
Steve Gerber left Marvel in 1980 citing problems with Jim Shooter and upper management over royalties on the licensing of Howard The Duck
John Byrne left Marvel and ended his run on the Fantastic Four due to a falling out with Jim Shooter
Roy Thomas left Marvel and ended his run on Conan due to Jim Shooter
Steve Englehart left Marvel during Shooter's regime but did not lay blame on Jim Shooter
Jack Kirby left Marvel in dispute over the return of his artwork and poor relations with Jim Shooter. Shooter sided with management against Kirby's creator rights
Gene Colan left Marvel in disgust over Jim Shooter

fuck off Claremont you creepy fuck

So good he had to come crawling back to Marvel after 5 years, only to shit the bed again when they gave him writing duties on his own book on the character he co-created.

His worst is better than Shooter's best.

>Shooter was a DC plant all along
OK, boomer.

>artists are always right and EiCs are always wrong
I guess that explains the 90s and Alonso?

One of the few times when you can claim a comic creator being an industry plant in meme sense given he got his start in DC as a kid

>be trained at DC
>become the greatest Marvel EiC ever
Based DC.

When was Kirby ever editor in chief? He was offered a job as art director and by all accounts turned it down, and John Romita ended up taking the job. He never wanted to be in charge of anything but drawing. If you want to talk about the merits of Kirby's writing vs. Shooter's then that a different conversation that is very debatable. But when it comes ro running a comic book company Shooter is the winner just from the fact that Jack Kirby was always too much of a coward to take on any responsibility in the company he worked for regardless of being the most qualified person in the room to do it at any period of time.

>coward
Or maybe he simply knew his limitations, you judging loser.

>Jim Shooter was planted by DC to outperform them at every level
If he was a DC plant then it should be documented that it's the worst example or corporate espionage ever.

>Jack Kirby was always too much of a coward to take on any responsibility
Or maybe he knew that the job fucking sucked and didn't want it? Have you ever had a job before user? Sometimes a promotion is a downgrade.

user, Shooter killed Marvel. Those angry old men told me so.

Every single peer of his and the people he influenced moved up the chain in the industry. He continued to just be an illustrator. He decided to start bitching once they all passed him by on the corporate ladder. Jack Kirby has mostly himself to blame for his troubles later in life.

I agree, he made the mistake of trusting people.

>How dare everybody else make a better life for themselves!? Why don't they wallow in self pity until they become a bitter old man like me?!?!
Based Kirby

T.Evanier

t. stanfag

Amazing, how the name of Kirby is so taboo in Marvel.

His wife got mad that he couldn't outjew the jews that jewed him but by the time they tried to jew those jews they were already to jewed to jew anybody.

>Marvel is run by financial people.
>The place is infamous for its political atmosphere
>Artists are considered commodities
>Readers are regarded as zombies

The more things change the more things remain the same

>is sacked from Marvel
>creates Valiant in the 90s
>all his enemies fall into irrelevance in that decade
The last laugh was for him.

This. Shooter was shit

Ladderbro pls

Jack Kirby had every opportunity to be a Stan Lee in the public eye, he turned every one of those opportunities down. He didn't think comics were worth being known for until the very end of his life.
