If anything it is/starts off as a giant old style "Yas Forums shitpost": lot of wacky hijinks, pop culture/video game references, it half takes itself seriously half fucks with the reader/characters.
Framed as a CYOA (started as one before going through its own thing, but many aspects were still voted by fans), it's just one big and long adventure that you either get hooked on or go "no wait this is dumb" and skip out.
Or you get really annoyed by it and dedicate time to hating it.

I've seen it occasionally posted but I think it's not that weird it's not a mainstream thought. It may be because most people don't look too deep into troll relations/reproduction, or not many people care that much about the ancestors.
In the first place, Disciple and Sufferer's relationship is the only of its kind for trolls and it's not like they actually had children. It's already an act of defiance that his genes were able to be passed down.
Also, not fully taking into account troll reproduction and how no one can 100% know if they're closely related or distantly related, they're less like brother and sister and more like super distant cousins-in-law, so it'd be like Japanese anime shit, doubly so with that ancestors bound by love trope. They don't even live together, so no one would really think "oh, they're totally related".

How exactly does Sollux "subtract" the codes from the other objects when he finds the code for the jetpack? Is it actually possible to do that, or is it just plot bullshit because he's a mega smart hacker?
It seems to me like John is right when he says there's millions of different possibilities.

if you're suggesting not punching the holes that are shared by the plant, pot, and violin, that doesn't work.
The jetpack could have already had those holes in its original code, and removing those holes would create a different object. It would just be one possible hole combination out of a million.
