What's your favorite album Yas Forums?
WHAT?
It feels like we're hemorrhaging Franco-Belgian authors and artists lately. Shit sucks
why did they do it?
Oh my god is true....
Sad.
Asterix was one of the first comics me and my dad have ever read (Aside from Lucky Luke and Marsupilami).
I'm not sre why you felt this was the right time for posting this in a tribute thread but....
It can be because Coronavirus was known since the 1986 or because it's a joke about Corona (crown) and Virus that seems something latin
Asterix in Corsica.

Getting this out of the way
youtube.com
I thought he was already dead and now I feel guilty
Goscinny was dead for decades.
RIP
RIP
STICKY THIS!
HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!
Asterix author has been dead for a very long time now though.
F
I' going to read my Tanguy et Laverdure Integrales now ;_;
Damn, he lived a long life so cant really complain, but the end of an era is inching ever closer.
Too bad Goscinny died so young. Asterix never was the same after his death.
Mods, sticky this please.
Asterix in Corsica was very good.
I still have fond memories of Asterix in Britain and Asterix at the Olympics.
Were the newer animated movies any good?
F
Who gives a shit, Asterix is meant to be read
Was it the virus?
No, but they were legitimately wasted potential.
The recent druid movie for example, which focused on a different character for a change and had a villainw ith good points. Pity its a shitfest that goes nowhere.
I liked all of them, the last one was real good.
No, a heart attack
RIP and F.
A steven universe thread died because of this.
Fuck off retard.
user, Goscinny died vey long ago and Asterix died with him.
Oh, you mean Uderzo. The guy who thought that Asterix hitting a woman and putting Disney and Animu inspired ayylmaos in the setting was a good idea. And who kept saying lies about who (him or Goscinny) had invented what, while old interviews which contradict his words still exist. Fuck Uderzo.
sticky
So at least something good came out of this.
Based Uderzo
>Goscinny died back in 1977
DAMN! How did Uderzo outlive him for so long?
Bsed Asterix killing off the author's own people.
I didn't know he draw Captain Marvel Jr.
And that's a good thing.
it's amazing how Asterix is popular (and Tanguy), and the others are literallywho tier.
>Umpa-pa
>Jehan Pistolet
Rip :(
>Literrally who tier
Back to Yas Forums faggot.
Humpapa was popular in its day. I read it as a kid
>Tanguy
I didn't know anything aobut its other works, but Tanguy seems cool, I think warfags and Ennisfags would love Tanguy.
F
Goscinny died at 51. Uderzo at 92.
RIP.
I never was a fan of the issues he did after Goscinnys death, but he was a true legend.
Sticky or Cesar has won
He did very good art, sadly he was less good at writing.
youtube.com
Going to have this stuck in my head all day again...
a fallen legend
RIP but also don't forget he turned quite a shitty person in the end and he used Asterix for some abomination like The Falling Sky.
Comics are literally dying
>Obelix and Co. was actually a political comic taking the piss out of Jacques Chirac's policy of giving union workers pointless busywork to keep them happy
Makes me wonder how much other commentary I missed in the books.
>What's your favorite album Yas Forums?
Asterix als Legionär.
Uderzo lived his life in full.
Baruch dayan emet.
Depends which, really.
Asterix the Gaul is okay, but it's showing its age as it didn't really have the budget the others had.
Asterix and Cleopatra is still quite good, it's pretty much a frame-by-frame adaptation plus some musical numbers which (in their french version at least) are some top-tier fun.
The Twelve Tasks of Asterix is great. It's the only fully original story and it worked.
Asterix in Britain is nice.
Asterix and the Big Fight took a lot of liberties with its source material and not always in a good way. The songs are back but they're misses more than hits this time.
Asterix and the Vikings completely botches on of the best Asterix stories, complete with "advanced photography and visuals" that do not compliment the artstyle at all and terrible music including a remix of Eyes of the Tiger sung by a french one-hit-wonder.
Mansions of the Gods was nice. They've done a great job translating the art of the comics into 3D animation.
All in all, check the Twelve Tasks, it's really good. Check the others if you want to see what Asterix can be when animated. Don't check The Vikings, it's not good at all.
damn the rona strikes again!
Well I haven't read them all. But the Big Fight is just absolute sitcom which features:
- cases of amnesias due to menhir hit
- flying cauldrons
- and that unlucky roman soldier who is gaul's guinea pig
>twelve tasks
For some reason I lose my shit at scene when Obelix starts asking for that boar on Isle of Pleasure.
NOOOOO NOOOOOO

STICKY THIS
>NOOOOO NOOOOOO
You sound like SoiWojak when you type like this.
And nothing of value was lost.
>the end of an era is inching ever closer
That era has effectively ended now that Uderzo is gone.
He was the last of the people responsible for the earlier classics still kicking.
If anything what is starting to end is the Pilote-explosion era with Fred, Pétillon and Gotlib a few years back, Bretécher a couple monthes ago...
If the complete hack that is Philippe Manoeuvre ends up outliving Mandryka, François Rivière, Floc'h or fucking Druillet, then all hope would be lost.
The name was bound to appear in media somewhere. There could be some tragedy in the year 2100 called Amphibia with a mutant frog virus.
DEP
RIP
WHERE IS THE STICKY!?
