For some reason Alex thought smaller scale stuff was more worth it. I remember how hyped I was when that old pinesquest message said Dipper was playing with fire, I was hoping to see him get into some really tough situations outside of endgame things. At least he had his moments.

He wasn't the protagonist though, think about it, did he really advance the plot? He was the episode filler for the stan brothers.
Good show, ending could have been better. Even a child understands you can't just wipe his memory and then suddendly he remembers everything again, did not work.
