Mark Russel (The Flintstones writer) is writing the current Red Sonja series from Dynamite. Its pretty good.
The classic Sonja Marvel series is great, I think Dynamite is reprinting all of that.
Gail Simone's run is pretty good too. Honestly, Dynamite gets a lot of shit but they've done a good job with the Sonja franchise

I know that recently they did away with the whole "Need to defeat me before you can fuck me" thing.

One of the clever things from one of the older comics is that Sonja isn't even sure that she didn't imagine the whole thing. Which is basically great irony. Perhaps her skills are the work of dedication and natural talent, but there's no way to be sure. And she won't gamble on it.

My wishlist for the movie.
These 1st 2 are non negotiable. If they aren't met then the project can die in a grease fire.
> (1) Zero misandry or anti male overreactions by Sonja. She can kill or maim actual attempted rapist but no moments of her harming people just because they flirted with her or commented on her sexiness. Don't make Sonja a brooding tight ass, let her get drunk, fun & sexy.
> (2) She has a largely faithful adaptation of the iconic bikini for the majority of the film. None of that "they get the iconic look at the very end of the film when they actually becomes the character we know" type of bullshit, this probably won't get a sequel.
> If those 2 factors are met then I want Antje Traue, Deborah Ann Woll or Jessica Chastain to play her in that order.

One of my ideas for a funnier Sonja story would be for her to take on a pleasant looking apprentice/squire for the express purpose of training him up.
The boy would show real promise and Sonja's starts considering the idea that he might finally defeat her and give her the rogering she's been denied. Until she finds out he is utterly and completely gay. The last shot would be Sonja riding away, grimfaced, with bags under her eyes.

I'll be honest with you, dude. I just don't think the chainmail bikini can work in live action. Like with many of the Marvel suits I bet it'll be heavily adapted into something that pays tribute to the look, but seems more functional and less pulpy.
That is if the classic costume isn't scoffed at or joked about in a throwaway scene, like in many other properties.
