Greg Universe

>No school
>No doctors
>Grew up in a van
I don't know what he complains about, seems perfectly fine to grow up gaining limited social skills, missing out on key knowledge, never getting informed about potential health issues and growing up as close to a complete social outsider as possible.

why did he pin all this shit on greg? didnt he spend most of his childhood years at the temple?
none of his physical trauma even happened till he was like 12 and living with the gems and allowed to go on missions

Because gems are autistic aliens and Greg is human who should have know better.

Because gems are women and Greg is human who should have know better.

Because Greg it's a selfish careless fucker just as pink diamond. Except that Greg it's probably more cynic as he never had the hard life pink diamond had. Both of them abandoned their families without remorse, both of them hidden their past to everyone. And of course they both let their only child to be raised by aliens that knew little about humans.
I'm sincerely always hated Greg, he is that kind of idiot that seems super chill and cool but you just can't trust him because he tends to avoid any form of conflict, compromise or responsability as soon as posible.

What's really funny to me is none of this is new information, we've known how Steven was raised all along. People have always said Greg is a great dad who loves his son and does good shit, but as soon as teen Steven has a rebellious temper tantrum suddenly the narrative is that he's terrible.

Dude was privately tutored by a future seeing prophet, a self taught rocket scientist and a highly accomplished poon slayer. Hes the most privilaged kid on earth

Uh yes?

By twelve he already should have gone to the school and to the doctor.

use catalog

I always thought it was a bit fucked up and cucked that he let the lesbian rocks raise his son and that he didn't live with them.

He lived with Greg until he was like 12
Also he made the realization that both his parents were irresponsible morons that care more about their own personal gratification than those around them including their own child.

Steven is realizing he doesn't have a single responsible parental figure
Greg is a negligent hippy
Pink was a irresponsible hedonistic sociopath
The gems are neurotic messes
The diamonds are genocidal warmongers
and every human adult in beach city has their own problems and families to deal with

Those few minutes that Priyanka was talking to him in her office is probably the closest he has ever come to a healthy parent/child dynamic.

Sure you did.

Oh come on it was one time, and dont forget literally every gem that contributed to his upbringing was qualified to teach at a university level

The one time he tried to get homeschooled a prisoner of war begged him for mercy and freedom using his own voice in and then the whole ass ocean was stolen

To be honest, Steven had just not opportunity to live a normal life. Added to the fact he is just half human, none of his parents had a normal life to begin with.
His father had authoritarian parents who were shitty in their own way, his mother was just an alien, and her species can't into human culture, they can't into human biology.
Steven was fucked from the beginning.

>as he never had the hard life pink diamond had.
Pink's life wasn't hard
She and Greg had pretty much the same background they are kids that grew up in controlling families that didn't let them do what they wanted so they ran away from home and cut ties so they could live as hedonists.

Sorry, forgot to take my trip off.

>but as soon as teen Steven has a rebellious temper tantrum suddenly the narrative is that he's terrible.
Greg isn't terrible, he's just irresponsible and an idiot.
He obviously matured a bit after Steven was born and put in a bit more effort but not nearly enough, this still puts him ahead of Pink by a mile though.

It’s new information that Greg has a really bratty hippy attitude about parents that made him eat meatloaf on Thursdays and hated rock music like typical parents of that era. It’s new information that he never told Steven about them and thought Steven would be more interested in his music than the sudden discovery of his grandparents, and it’s new information that Greg is insensitive to Steven’s perspective when his feelings about his parents are involved

Also, it just reminds us how Greg is kind of a too easy-going bum, which was never depicted as a completely positive thing

Steven is at the point where he's "solved" all the big problems, defeated the big bad space aliens, and now that it's done he's found that cannot readjust to a normal life.

Right now, that's what he wants. A normal life.

And seeing his dad deprive him of that possibility (despite it being literally impossible for him to have had being half-space-alien), he's getting understandably upset. He can't adjust to a normal life now that the war is over and he's blaming his dad and the Gems for it.

This is literally what happens to actual veterans with PTSD.

I've never watched Steven Universe, but why are you people discussing a cartoon like it's this deep masterpiece of storytelling?

Attached: kornheiser_worry.jpg (200x255, 12.66K)

It literally implied that pink was constantly abused at least by blue diamond. That's why she cried so much for her, out of pure guilty

Because they don't want to believe they wasted their lives watching this shit.

Except Greg didn't know better because he's an autistic human. Steven's problems stem from the fact that all his caretakers are fucking retarded.

A better question is; why are you lounging around in a SU thread on a cartoon board?

Steven can fuck off this whiny bullshit.

Bull fucking shit. Veterans have a problem because they know just how easily you can die so they are stressed while normal people are blissfully unaware and chill, the red pill is too fucking much.

his caretakers don't know anything about taking care of a human, much less a gem-human hybrid.

>I'm sincerely always hated Greg, he is that kind of idiot that seems super chill and cool but you just can't trust him because he tends to avoid any form of conflict, compromise or responsability as soon as posible.
Same

>Veterans have a problem because they know just how easily you can die so they are stressed
So like Steven?

Wow....its almost like Greg has flaws and shit...you know...like a developed character would...what a shocker...

Except Steven can't die, he's a diamond so nothing short of a brutal beating by another diamond can even scratch him.

The issue I keep having with things like Steven Universe and the like trying to explore trauma and PTSD is- I just can't take it seriously.
The kid is half-magic mineral space alien fighting other technicolor freaks, and as the show presents itself in this half-assed chibi style, my mind just can't accept that this kid has any kind of worries or troubles past when he's going to fuse with connie next.

Hmm would you say the same for The Simpsons and Futurama or at the very least they present themselves in a more immersing down-to-earth manner? I personally can't give a shit about Rick and Morty's emotional episodes.

He's just quoting Connie's mom

>they don't want to believe they wasted their lives

>can't die
>but can be mauled horrifically
yes, that would definitely give Steven some comfort.

Attached: he survives this somehow.jpg (324x512, 81.21K)

>Right now, that's what he wants. A normal life.
Yeah that why he proposed to Connie because that’s what normal people do at that age you fucking retard

He can't even be mauled. Have you seen the crater he left when jasper pounded him? That was his body pressing against the bedrock.

>It literally implied that pink was constantly abused at least by blue diamond
No it wasn't
Everything indicates that The diamonds adored Pink they just didn't take her as seriously as she would have liked.
Pink was basically a spoiled kid angry that she didn't get the toy she wanted, and then she was an angsty teen pissed her parents imposed rules on her.

user mentioned another diamond but it's a big universe. who knows what else can actually hurt him.

He's a retard that doesn't know what normal is

Underrated post.

I missed the discussions on episodes 13 and 14 how'd that go? The proposal was brutal.

Greg not taking Steve to doctor's or school was kind of shitty yeah but he leaned towards a life of freedom for Steve, as well as in general probably not knowing too much about taking care of kids. There's also the implication that he had some PTSD from losing Rose.

Like he had failings but this isn't' the reason Steven is so pissed. He's just looking for reasons to cling too. Greg was 100% right to keep Steve away from his asshole parents who don't even read Greg's letters out of fucking pride.

Steven was never gonna have a normal life no matter what with his powers, and Greg definitely fucked up in some ways, but overall him and the gems love Steven and only wanted what's best. Steven's real issue is trauma (also probably hormones)

In change your mind Steven says his crying "isn't normal" and asked BD how many times she locked Pink in that tower and made her cry

He hung out with Townies for several years before his powers developed. You're acting like Greg kept him in the house he built 24/7 with no interaction with the outside world. Steven was even aware of the other states in the U.S. and their cultures. And of fucking course the show makes the point that Steven"s human sensibilities is how he's been able to redeem so many gems in the first place.

But nope now he's a social retard because plot! Pink super saiyan mode because plot! Amazing writing Sugar.

Everyone actually praised Connie for her delicate handling of it. Was kinda surprising to see.

Well she did handle the situation well. Yas Forums was squawking about how connverse was dead for like a week and turns out connie was nothing but compassionate. It's especially surprising since up till then she'd been almost a non-character

It is dead. She just doesn’t love Steven that way

Steven was able to get along with people because he was helping them. No nobody needs that he's not able to hang out with people on the regular unless it's Connie. You're not very likely to find many scene of Steven just having a casual chat with humans unless it involves some activity related to them.

The show has hinted that Steven never getting a chance to explore what HE wants was going to be a problem. Your parents (and every other adult around you) asking you what you want to be when you grow up is important for making sure you actually do.

*now

there are many scenes of Steven having normal interaction with Beach City people

Attached: 9dc.gif (640x360, 3.63M)

That's a party.

Did it ever occur to you all that the reason Steven didn't leave beach city to go somewhere else for schooling was the fact Greg had 3 magical rocks that were obsessed with Steven and had gone as far as to try kidnapping him when he was a baby?

Maybe Greg couldn't simply leave And take Steven somewhere else as the rock creatures may try to take Steven away or some other shit like that.

She wants to ride the university dick carousel first.

""""""party"""""" with only 5 people, it was more of a regular hang out but as a potluck

Attached: 5e88739074a5a1ffeee1cfa78da278b5.jpg (250x354, 39.03K)

Still feels like half assed writing. You're telling me a kid obsessed with his mother and loved the fuck out of his dad, never stopped to ask about his extended family even once? And Greg doesn't seem the type to just lie about shit either.

Attached: 1546318533907.png (1024x1024, 248.87K)

Fair 'nuff I suppose, but he had known those people for presumbly years. Talking to new people is always going to be a bit tough if you're mentally adjusting to being your actual age instead of just being excited for hanging out with cool older teens (even if you're TECHNICALLY the same age).

Steven has a weird life.

Greg ran away from home and changed his name. If Andy hadn't come along Steven would've never learned about his extended family at all.

Keep in mind, Steven didn't even know what a nuclear family was, he just figured every family was like his
