If you see the cartoon, it easily and clearly falls under parody law. Also, isn't YouTube just able to uphold the strike until you decide to challenge it, and at that point the filers have to provide evidence they're actually taking legal action? That's how a lot of ballsier creators deal with these strikes. I understand if he doesn't want to risk legal action, but there's pretty much no chance WB would actually take this to court.

That used to be easy but YT has gotten more scummy lately with how this shit works, especially since everything is automated and they clearly give companies the right away to strike content without actual review, the repeal process on the other hand can take weeks if not longer and might end up not going anywhere anyways, especially if the copyright holder/company throws any portion of weight behind their strike.

Also doesn't help that right now everything with YT is in full automation mode right now with the virus fears forcing everyone that works at YT to take some time off. Chances are this is going to get far worse before it gets better.

the problem is twofold
1. because of corona-chan youtube massively reduced staff. its gonna take time to get his counter claim addressed
2. most videos get most of their views and buzz close to the publish date. whenever the claim is reversed, it will be too late to regenerate buzz for fresh views to make money, everyone wouldve already seen it in its ad-less state or posted somewhere else

and a compounding factor
3. he now has a strike on his account. if he gets more before the claim is dropped, his account could be completely banned from google platforms

It sucks, it's way too much burden they put on the small creators to disprove the charges against them, rather than the accuser to actually prove their claim initially. It's one of the reasons people say they're going to move to a different platform, but few do. I feel like you still have to push back on it a little bit though, even if you have to pick your battles to avoid multiple strikes, because otherwise they're just going to ride roughshod over you, and you won't be able to build any sort of presence making parody material. I think the YouTuber LegalEagle helps with some of this stuff. He's an actual lawyer, so he knows the tricks to protect yourself more.
