I am a fan of many things. I will never allow myself to be defined as a member of a fandom.

Basically most /trash/ threads, as shitty as they are, can at least claim to be somewhat productive in terms of what their topic is. Homestuck fans intentionally drove their threads to lowest level of quality possible, and I do mean intentionally, because that's what the fanbase memes. It literally pushes the lowest level of discussion possible. They then got full of themselves and started to mock the mods for not being able to do anything since they were on /trash/, and the threads became nothing but things like "*poots*" and "LOL FUCK YOU MODS YOU CAN'T STOP US". This turned out to be really fucking stupid and they bit the bullet for it

Venture Bros, and any other relatively small, self-contained fanbase are pretty good. When they get big, shit quickly starts to go awry

The idea of "fanbases" is a really stupid and obnoxious thing by itself. We are not the same just because we happen to like something similar, maybe not even for the same reasons. It's really fascinating to see the modern internet, as it exists in the 2010s+, really embrace the "fandom" stuff. For what reason? Do you not have any individuality? This world would be so much better if people weren't stupid and didn't care much about herd mentality, and especially willingly joining such things.
