Is SynchroVox the worst Yas Forums-related technology ever created?

I think it's neat that it exists as an experimental form of animation, but I'm glad it didn't catch on.
yes. since it technically spawned THIS
Every still and gif of clutch cargo is pure nightmare fuel.
No, 3dcg is
>Every still and gif of clutch cargo is pure nightmare fuel
Maybe in isolation. But the actual show is one of the dullest things in existence.
This. Fuck 3D CGI.
My first exposure to this style of animation was in "Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers" and it unnerved me as a kid. Still does.
Can you post an example of the worst 3dcg has to offer?
at least Conan O'Brien got some good fake celebrity satellite interviews out of it
I feel it was just a few decades ahead of it's time. You can propoably make it work pretty well today with some fancy AI shenanigans
I'm at work, so no. But I dislike 3D CGI regardless of its quality. I consider it anti-cartoons, fake movies of sorts. A lower form of entertainment.
flash puppets are pretty bad
Ok boomer
Probably. I fail to see the point. They still could’ve done very limited animation and drawn like 8 mouth shapes. Hell, they could’ve pulled off 3 mouth shapes if anime is to be believed.
>that incredibles dvd short with the Mr Incredible cartoon that had the exact same style and tone, with Mr Incredible providing commentary
''What would that new process be, Mr. I? Cheaporama?!''
did boomers have any legitimately good cartoons on tv growing up?
between this shit and the flood of cheap hanna-barbera shit it's a wonder any of them grew up wanting to get into animation
WB shorts were still good in the 50s. The 60s and 70s were mostly awful. Bullwinkle and The Pink Panther were all right.
did WB shorts come on TV in the 50s and 60s?
I'm honestly surprised Clutch Cargo isn't referenced in Venture Brothers at all. It feels like the perfect side character of an adventurer that has a creepy mouth, and he just lives in their world as this low animated character with the live action mouth.
They could make a little gag short that is about a failed 50s/60s SynchroVox cartoon centered round Jonas Venture Sr. and Team Venture.
Unrelated but after watching a Jonny Quest doc, could/would Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer actually make a Jonny Quest reboot, or a similar animated adventure program that is completely serious in tone?
I was just about to make a thread on this. How the fuck could this possibly be any cheaper to do, in the analog age no less, than making like 3 or 4 different frames of lip flaps to cycle through?
The sad part is that it would've worked if it stayed in comic book format. The whole premise was ruined by the very thing it was trying to advertise. It sucks.
What if it's like Classic Who where a bunch of episodes are missing, but Billy realizes there's another mystery code about ORB on it. Namely, how to fix it.
>watching a Jonny Quest doc
where?
50s was still theater-only, but The Bugs Bunny Show started in 1960.
thanks breh
He's a Croatian Pedophile
>Why am I white?
no
new Yas Forums waifu material
Bet it's a boner killer in motion.
The Orb is not coming back, man. Let it go. It was a maguffin.
well to be fair the episode is terrifying
those lips were the least scary thing in the episode
>Paddy the Pelican
you aren't helping your point
Probably.
I know that I hate it more than anything.
hell it'd be more relevant today with the lack of quality standards of most calarts style cartoons and modern digital cameras
don't draw the mouths of the characters, just film the voice actors with a phone and stick it on the tape.
It's absolute shit, the nadar of animation and whoever invented it is probably burning in hell.
it's certainly up there, yeah.
child, please!
The original Jonny Quest.
This is still hilarious.
Clutch Cargo was very ingenuitive. Not practical, but they did do a bunch of things to get out of drawing things, like building an actual miniature windmill.
>they made me a white guy!
>maybe the print is faded, you're tan?
oh god I'm dying.
That short obliterated my sides
Did this even catch on? I feel like even back then people saw it and went LOLNO. Flash has done WAY more damage.
There's a lot of great stuff made with Flash that wouldn't have been possible otherwise. Synchro-Vox has literally no merits.
People keep bringing up Clutch Cargo, but Space Angel is my guilty pleasure.
Both are cheap as fuck but I like them for that vintage scifi and pulpy comic feel. Both shows would literally be better off with just being slideshows.
So was this before they understood that they could just swap out cels with different head and mouth shapes? Was it a technical limitation or did they just not come up with it?
Did this really save enough time to be worth how awful it looked?
Splicing mouth footage with one static cel is much faster than swapping mouth shapes frame-by-frame.
Also, lip-sync is a tedious pain in the ass.
You don't need lip sync if you animate at 4fps
i think theyre both from the same production team
Name 35
not bad
Yes
Bet 60s kids had nightmares with this shit
she sounds too much like the little boy in clutch cargo
