They're all terrible people who have collectively brought eachother down to the point where they deserve eachother, which is the whole point. Jerry just gets the short end of the stick because the writers dumb a lot of shit on him as they can't think of original humor otherwise. Jerry was meant to be the "pathetic but still a father who tries" part of their family dynamic, which turned to just "pathetic" as the show dragged on. There's a startling difference between early season 1 Jerry and modern Jerry

I feel like I should rewatch the series to have a solid opinion on this but the episode where Rick made Jerry into a floating man with the latter almost dying because he somehow fucked up keeping his shoes on seemed a bit too exaggerated.

Beth deserves nothing. If anything Jerry probably deserves better.

Beth made the decision to marry and get back together with Jerry. I know that we as a society are conditioned to protect women from their own stupid choices and the consequences of their actions, but Beth is an adult with free will and she hears any responsibility for being with Jerry.

That's not what happened. in this scene, the exact opposite happens. She came to him with an identity crisis and he helped get her self-confidence back. He made that meeting about her, not about him.

the thing is, it's a flaw about Jerry, but not his whole character and the reason his wife went back with him is because of Furthermore, the reason they separated in the first place was because Rick was abusing his daughter's fear of separation.

Throughout the entire series, morty is this selfish, narcissistic, petty induvidual that uses rick to get what he wants only to be proven wrong all the time. The whole show is about rick fixing morties godly screwups.

His focus is on morty getting with jessica but he screws that up in the pilot.
