Why do so many assume that Spinel will only get a minor cameo at best, potentially with no spoken lines? It’s not like she was a minor character: she was a villain of a movie that had an ending that made it seem like she would return some day. It would be nice to see her and Steven get a solid amount of positive interaction with one another before the show ends, especially since Spinel can very much relate to what Steven is feeling right now and might be able to comfort him or at least be there for him.
Also, what’s to suggest her role will be minor? She’s in the intro, and the leaker never mentioned Spinel as only having a small role. The fact that she’s mentioned helping the Diamonds fix broken gems makes me think that she’ll have something bigger than a background appearance. And Homeworld Bound was supposed to be the episode playing after the film’s sing a long event in theaters before it got cancelled. Wouldn’t it make sense for that episode to be Spinel-focused? I’m not saying that she has to be the one to save Steven or has to have a gigantic role in the finale, but I think it would be really disappointing if she wasn’t a co-focus in one of these six remaining episodes. I’m hopeful but also prepared for the worst.
It’s a shame that the show is ending so soon, because I’d love to see Spinel go on a proper redemption arc like Peridot, be friends with Steven, and maybe even become a Crystal Gem as she becomes a part of his circle on Earth. Too bad she has to go off with the Diamonds instead of, say, staying to help clean up the damage she caused to the town and work through her issues with Steven’s support.
At least Jasper will probably be involved in something good...
This is different. Other villains like Aquamarine don’t have a fan base like Spinel does. And Spinel is actually redeemable unlike her. t would be nice to see how she’s doing.

You're supposed to wait the firsts 50 posts before reclaim it
Christian Howard
she was a one off character for the movie, dude. That's why she went off to fuck with the diamonds despite it being in conflict with the entire lesson she had just learned. they have no plans for her to come back so they poochie'd her off. she died on the way back to homeworld
Noah Jackson
Then why put her in the intro if they’re not gonna do anything with her? And before you mention that a bunch of background gems are in the intro as well, Spinel is not a background character.
James Flores
Guess Jasper’s gonna dab on Spinel over the next week and a half by being important
>It'll be for one second in the background >There will be 40 threads from the 5 anons who spam her
Cooper Howard
Aquamarine got an episode. Why can’t she? Her getting a background appearance after being a movie villain would be dumb
Alexander Baker
Her lesson was to grow and learn to live with others. She went to try that.
Easton Rogers
I'm a Jasperfag and I'd rather just get one movie with the attention on her, even though some of her eps are my favorites I think I'd rather a movie
Matthew Cook
When you see a character once and you end up liking that character, if they don’t end up dying, you really wanna see said character again
Ayden Torres
Because intros lie sometimes, nigga We've already been over this with Star Vs
Eli Rivera
She went to go be a nostalgic plaything with people that remind her of Pink because she reminds THEM of Pink. She's going right back to that same fixation, and feeding into the Diamonds' continuing inability to move on as well
Juan Parker
She was a Poochie, get over it.
Asher Wood
Leaker literally said that she would play a role in an episode
Luke Wright
Both parties acknowledged this and moved on regardless. Let's wait and see how it turns out, the crew have already said it won't be perfect (as evidenced by Garnet shaking her head as they left).
Joshua Parker
no
Evan Perez
yeah, but we only have 4 left right? and the likelyhood of a whole episode dedicated to her is not likely. A spoken cameo seems the most likely, or at most she becomes exposition for what the diamonds have been doing on homeworld since the movie.
She could get secondary focus in Homeworld Bound, then the Diamonds take over in Everything’s Fine. Also we don’t know anything about Fragments other than Jasper popping up.
Matthew Walker
There is always the possibility she may have other roles in various spin offs either in comic form or cartoon Think at a Lars of The Stars miniseries where she is a recurring character
I expect a Bismuth Casual scenario where it's Bismuth/Connie levels of split between the Diamonds and Spinel.
Luis Collins
Connie definitely got more focus than Bismuth
I’m hoping for 75% Steven + Spinel and 25% Diamonds
Then we get Pink White the following episode
John Morales
>Lars of The Stars miniseries Absolutely not happening
Future will be the last we will ever see of the series in animated form
Jose Hernandez
The Diamonds are basically monoliths so yeah I can see that happening. The "authority" side of them really goes into effect when the three are together and they're more like 3 sides of one character than 3 seperate ones. If the "LEAVE ME ALONE" part of the promo is in either Mr Universe or Fragments then yes I agree PinkWhite could be in Everything's Fine, but be prepared for it to turn up in Homeworld Bound since explaining that they're fixing gems won't take long
Cameron Thomas
I like the idea of this >Homeworld Bound: Steven goes to Homeworld to see Spinel as he feels he is losing everyone and is desperate to find someone who would relate (if the theory about Jasper getting shattered isn’t true) while White Diamond’s arc begins in the background >Everything’s Fine has White go insane, and Steven begins turning into a monster
Kayden Reyes
I doubt she's any more expensive than Patti Lupone or Susan Egan.
Brayden Bailey
Well tell me what will happen tomorrow. Good night
Looks like Cartoon Network initially wanted Spinel to get shattered after the events of the film before Sugar protested.
>The climax of “Steven Universe: The Movie” comes not when the hero battles the vengeful, superpowered alien atop the planet-destroying weapon. It arrives a beat later when the titular Steven and his adversary, Spinel, form a delicate friendship while standing in a smoldering crater of their own making. Steven helps Spinal see that although the trauma she’s suffered can’t be erased, personal growth is good and possible.
>Their rapprochement follows a slugfest as action-packed as any you’ll find on Cartoon Network.
>And creator Rebecca Sugar had to fight like hell for it.
>“I would get these notes that he should obliterate her and rid the universe of her evil,” says Sugar. “That’s really not what our show is about. But it’s what is expected from children’s programming — that if there’s a bad person, you kill them, and then everything will be fine. I just think there should be some alternative.”
>It was that kind of alternative thinking by the groundbreaking showrunner that went into creating a boy hero raised by three superpowered, female-coded, nonbinary space aliens — clearing fresh terrain in children’s programming.
>It was that kind of alternative thinking by the groundbreaking showrunner that went into creating a boy hero raised by three superpowered, female-coded, nonbinary space aliens — clearing fresh terrain in children’s programming. Why do they talk like this?
Yeah the only way that would've been in line with the show's own tone and ethics is a redemption sacrifice. No way taking a life is in line with what it preaches and Rebecca knew that full well.
Carter Reyes
Technically gems are genderless. This is never mentioned in the show, tho. Nor anything about them being “non-binary”
Asher Russell
>Shes in the intro, so she wont have a minor cameo bruh you realize how many gems that only get minor cameos in scenes are in the intro?
Samuel Gonzalez
Non binary just means they lack typical gender traits for the most part. It's pretty self evident.
