In a manner of speaking. A lot of the obvious choices are taken, so you definitely do have to reach harder/get more creative. I could believe it's a genuine obstacle in trying to come up with new characters, especially if you think of the powerset first and then the name.
Like, I 100% believe that Safespace's power came first, because "forcefield that he can only use when he's protecting someone" is an interesting idea that someone could come up with in a vacuum. But then they started reaching for something that wasn't generic/taken and we ended up here.

Hell, Snowflake could be a nice name for an ice based character, but the design and connection with Safespace make it obvious it's Marvel throwing another shot in favor of SJW bullshit.
