Yup. Also I think they left out Shadow-san to avoid spoiling his role in the series proper. They have to make these friendly to newbies since most people just jump to the specials without watching the proper show. That's why they do recap as well.
Of course, they still have season 2 characters in there, but there's little to spoil with them.

Yes. It’s the second worst ending after the one where Carmen also gets wiped.
We don't know. There was apparently a 20-episode order for this series and with the special out, it has been fulfilled. However, there's still merch coming out and the show has a strong online marketing presence, so maybe we'll see more in the future.
