Redpill me on Legion of Superheroes

I know nothing about them, why should I care about these guys? Also, apparently there are like several different versions. Which is best?

It's kind of interesting that the Legion starts basically as a childish whim between a few teenagers that liked the old super hero stories and managed to get a sponsor to fund their project.

Post-boot is vastly superior to them all because it actually establishes all the characters and their orgins and developments each of them through the course of the issues. Like Brainiac 5 and his abandonment issues cause by his mother or Triplicate girl's "mental illness" of having her three bodies all thinking as individuals rather then a single unit like the rest of her kind.

The cartoon is a good place to start, if not a little gay sometimes.

I'm a sucker for the Threeboot because I enjoyed it's takes on some of the characters and the world they where in was cool.
A bunch of adults that take fascist decisions to parenting will never not be funny. And it's Dream Girl and Brainy where probably the best incarnations of the bunch.

It's really bums me out the fandom right now is just quietly waiting for Bendis's run to just die already. Talk about terrible reception.

Wasn't Braniac 5 end up with Supergirl in JLU?

They exposed the rape baby and made shotafags seethe.

I think the legion cartoon takes place in it's own universe.

Attached: DedG_h6XcAA9WiN.jpg (406x480, 27.24K)

It's sad such good artists are wasted on this terrible run.

Attached: cover.jpg (901x1400, 323.05K)

All bendis does is join a book and shit on its pre established history in order to write the same voice for every character. What good reception could it have ever had?

>Why should I care about these guys?
Because they're likeable characters who have good stories. They're what happens if a bunch of superhero nerds become the main heroes of their own time.

Look at this excellent taste. Seconding this, OP. The post Zero Hour version, starting with Legionnaires #0 is a good place to start.

Also, Imra is best girl. Always.

Not even Dustin Nguyen can save the worst designs, they look awful except shadow-lass but her "new" design looks like all her previous incarnations, so that's not surprising. Poor teen Jon's new outfit is giving me new52 nightmares.

I don't understand why it's so bad. His Young Justice series is alright, so you would think that if he can write teen characters with varying personalities he could write the legion just fine right? But it's just awful. Lightning Lad is a beta male and Ayla is a black female stereotype of all things.

There's just no impression that this legion is an actual super-hero team. It's been 6 issues (counting the millennium comics) and they haven't even save anyone yet. What gives?

>Legion of Super Heroes #1 51,835
>Legion of Super Heroes #2 27,177
>Legion of Super-Heroes #3 26,933
>Legion of Super-Heroes #4 23,075

Terrible reception is right, good riddance. I for one wish they where put to rest, or at least until maybe someone like Hickman takes a crack at it.

>tfw Dream Girl and White Witch
The Nal sisters got done dirty. I think I get what they were going for. Naltorians have prophetic dreams, therefore they look like clouds. But why gold? Why the sparkly dust texture? At least make them silver like Nura's usual outfit colors. Hell, Mysa doesn't even have her eyelash antennae.

Got nothing against change, but I hate most of the new designs cause they don't look like who they're supposed to be.

The problem I believe isn't change here. ALL of the designs probably would've been accepted by fans eventually IF the writing was actually decent. Fans hated Snekie and they hated the LoSH cartoon for it's major changes like robot Brainiac 5 for a time.

But I will say Sook's experimental designs take waaaay too long for even him and other fill in artists to draw, hence the comic is getting delayed again. It's also Bendis being Bendis that is the reason why the book is already tanking so hard.

>fans hated Sneckie
Definitely a case of NOT MUH. Sneckie is great.

You may have a point though. While odd, the designs were certainly tainted by the writer.

I didn’t realize they tried to bring back adventure comics before, though is the Star Trek cross over with Leigon any good? My LCS has a trade of it and I’m considering buying it

I liked but it can be 50/50. I liked LOSH v6 and a bit legion lost more thanlegion nu52

Sales for each issue is cut because of card stock covers. Why are you this dumb for this long?

they wore sexy outfits in the 70s or 80s

I remember really liking this show growing up. Would love to see them get a new cartoon.

Fun teen heroes. Their Silver Age is pretty retro futurism aesthetic. Their 90's run is like a great fun mid-90's-early 2000's teen dramas set in future space. I think of like Buffy and Xena but with the cast of a like Boy Meets World.

You should be able to find downloads for these. If not, go ask the Win-O'-Thread.

seriously people, there are TOO MANY legion of super-heroes volumes.

Attached: losh too many losh grid.jpg (2378x4000, 2.28M)

Millennium shouldn't even count. They didn't show up until the last 2 pages of the second issue. It was more about what happened between 21c to the 31c.

>they haven't even save anyone yet. What gives?

New Metropolis and Planet Gotham are peaceful places right now. So don't expect much saving on that front. But I've seen a preview page #6 and it has people being evacuated by the legion. So I guess that should count.

Still sounds pretty lame user

The actual sales with the two cover types combined

I guess that can be considered pretty good, but I'm still gleefully happy it is getting lower.

Oh well, user.

>why should I care about these guys?
As a young person, what if you could emulate the bygone heroes of the 40s and 50s to better your world today?

What if it actually worked?

What if a bunch of multicultural teenagers-turned-young-adults remixing classic ideas meant they knew better than boomer bureaucrats?

That's LoSH in a nutshell.

It getting lower won't really matter. I've seen books(from the big 2) that been under 20k for 15 plus issue and still coming out. Also, this book is always in the top 6 to 12 when it comes out on comixology.

Wasn't #4 reported at 77?

Let's not turn this into a Bendis hating thread please. We already know his legion sucks.

Has anyone ever done a comparison pic of all costumes/incarnations of a character?

BLACK COCK

Legion of Three Worlds did it.

what an obnoxious rec list.

I didn't made it,also there is another ones but Yas Forums archives are pretty down if you go back to pre-2015.

I was talking about Comixology, user. But yes, it's ranked 77 for units and 72 for dollars in US. But those rankings doesn't count of the card stock covers because it cost a dollar more. It's like that for a lot of DC books.

comichron briefly had the default top 500 ranked by fused listings yesterday, but switched back to regular unit top 500.
I think Diamond bitched at them for "misleading people" by putting the two covers together, even though it shows the actual numbers.

I actually like Bendis Legion and the sales worry me because I don't want them to attribute problems to the team and them be back in the toybox for a decade.

ComiXology's Best-Selling Comics for the Week Starting March 11, 2020
> 467. Legion of Super-Heroes (2019-) #4

issue #4 was rank 7 on release-day on comixology, and then rank 81 the next week.

I think I seen someone do it on reddit. But the person got some suits wrong I think. I'll go check.

Yeah, three weeks after release.

How’s bendis Superman stacking up against the last run?

It sucks for me as an artist because I really liked doodling the weird designs, but whats the point of doing fanart for run that won't amount to anything. It's frustrating.

I don't trust anyone at DC to have pulled it off bc the original was kind of a miracle but it needed a Legion of 3 Worlds scenario to introduce them and send off the original/classic versions. The Legion looking like a bunch of aliens is my favorite part

losing my mind because i think it's maybe the best Bendis in years? which i know lol not saying much.

i still don't understand the hate

C'mon user... research isn't that hard.

Personally I've been working on the request I promised many threads ago.

Learning to draw them has been very enjoyable.
Though I have to mention looking for brainy refs and noticing he never wears the same tiara in any of his panels. They should consider taking it off of him.

Ah! Guess you where right. Sorry.
bleedingcool.com/2020/02/23/bleeding-cool-bestseller-list-batman-beats-wolverine/

I saw people were mad Bendis was teasing Cham X Brainy and I don't get the mad? Like people weren't talking about it blocking their ship (I guess Brainy x Invisible Kid 1?), just being mad

Are you sure that was teasing? I saw the post too, but I thought he was just making a awkward joke.

I happen to be tracking that one too.
Reminder that Rebirth Supes and AC were on a twice-monthly schedule. So when you see that Bendis is at issue #15 of Superman, Tomasi was around #29 (because they had two #1's).
You can safely say that he's doing much worse now on average.

Attached: file.png (1769x961, 174.57K)

You know I only humored the idea that Bendis would ship Brainy with Bouncy. But this is close enough.
