Does this chapter have some substance after all?

By rights Lucy should say that last year it was her own fault for wandering off to isolate herself from Mike and the rest of her friends in the process.
Is Lucy literally a child?
Lucy's last birthday was in chapter 63, btw.
>We know you had a REALLY tough birthday last year..
I don't feel like rereading. At what point do any of them indicate that they know she was having a bad birthday? It was just Mike that was ignoring her.
Also, somebody make a betterthread.
Why do they still hang out with this slut and treat her like she's a queen?
How would the BCB gang fare with the coronavirus?
Daisy forced Lucy to celebrate her birthday last year as well so how wasn't she "there" for Lucy then?
I guess no one seemed to realize that she was torn up about Mike, though. It doesn't make much sense since it seems she stopped eating lunch with them for weeks but no one noticed.
Give your money to a better cat comic: kickstarter.com
Do not read this comic.
>Lackadaisy animated short film
oh neat
>Kickstarter is run by IronSpike
yikes
One of the worst wasted potentials of this comic is the fact Lucy and David are not close platonic friends
>grumpy mean girl is extremely patient and nice with the literally autistic guy
It's a great trope
>Lackadaisy short
Wow finally-
>that art style
>the cast (except PRoZD who can probably pull it off)
I know beggars can't be choosers but ehhhh.
there is nothing to talk about. This comic is dead
> Caption:
> Veronica: Man, to think Pillow Talk was a year ago in comic-time. Paulo and Jasmine were dating, Daisy had Abbey, Mike was just beginning to ignore Lucy, how time flies…
Wow, remember when stuff actually happened in the comic guys? Me neither but it sure feels nice to try to reminisce.
In a few millennia we'll get to see everyone reacts to Lucy tossing Mike's present, but for now you're right.
Do you guys want to do a Hunger Games? I set it up, but we'll have to do it in /trash/ because most of the character icons are porn.
I am not opposed
Alright, I'll start a thread.
bump
This page sucked but wasn't really worse than the last one, I don't know why this thread is so much deader. There's a betterthread up if anybody wants to join in.
Probably because there's nothing interesting going on in this damn comic for a long-ass time.
Combined with one page a week.
Compounded with the quality drop that happened few years ago, and here we are.
Authors self-insert
So wait, is Lucy done acting like a bitch to her so called "former friends" purely out of spite?
I don't know what Lucy is even thinking anymore.
The absolute STATE
Only comic I can think of with a more fucked canon timeline to run ratio is Paranatural
The thread on the one where Lucy throws Mike's present in the trash will probably be more active
>Eternal status quo
>HURR DURR WHY SO SILENT
Reminder that if page has no Mike,Sandy or Alejandro in it then ITS SHIT
I think Mega Tokyo has been running for 25 years but takes place over the course of two or three months.
We were too busy talking about future possible events to discuss the nothingness of last page.
Next page is "death glare from daisy" so might be interesting next week.
It'll just be Daisy despising Mike because he yelled at her once, like Sue. One stroppy incident (where he is Right) and people start hating Mike. Years of bitchy behavior from Lucy? Unconditional love.
>Next page is "death glare from daisy"
The previews on Patreon and the website for me are close ups of Lucy's mouth, could you post what you're seeing?
If the fact mike's "friends" treat him like shit and drop him at the first sign of trouble isn't brought up soon I think I'll just drop the comic, it's been 10 years of it already.
He did nothing wrong, goddamn it
God, I just reread it for a refresher. I miss this comic being actually dramatic...
61 pages in 4 months too, better times.
what about his spergy behavior regarding all things Sandy
This 1 comic a week shit is really showing how bad this comic is.
Should have stayed with the Mon, Wed, Fri updates. That time it was updating every day and led us to once a week was a mistake.
NOTHING WRONG
Arigato. I was expecting everybody turning against him to be due to word of Lucy's suicide attempt getting out. I do hope that still happens. I want Mike to suffer for reasons that aren't contrived.
Sandy is Mike's Achilles heel. And even then, usually when his friends bring her up, she's not actually the thing making him upset at that particular time. Plus it's becoming increasingly obvious that he's getting tired of her shit and is only hanging on because she's his escape from the bullshit of his friends.
Even now I think a lot of the flaws we point out are unnoticed by casual readers, but by committing the cardinal sin of making her comic boring as fuck, Taeshi has lowered enthusiasm among even the lowest common denominator.
Chapter 63 started publishing the 5th of January, 2011. It has taken more than nine years to get through one year in-story.
>ch 63
>Released back in 2011
>It's been NINE YEARS realtime for ONE YEAR to pass in the comic
And this is supposed to end at graduation?
No, before that. It is supposed to end at the end of the current school year for the cast.
We're at November 2008 right now, so only a few more in-comic months, right? Right?
How do all of you keep reading? What are we all waiting for to happen?
>Saying all these nice things about the girl who frequently beats up your boyfriend and keeps trying to steal him from you
Sandy is an angel.
I want to feel the way I felt the first time I read the comic, and I'm convinced that if Taeshi could just stop fucking around and finish Mike's character arc, I'd be able to come close to that.
To Sandy, Lucy was nothing more than just some friend of Mike's that was "really mean" to him. Not to say that Mike's anger without Sandy's inadvertent influence is wholly unjustified but Sandy really didn't know any better, she was just being a concerned girlfriend.
I like these threads.
There's nothing in the comic that I look forward to. Not Paulo getting with Daisy, not Mike breaking off with Sandy and attempting suicide, not Lucy realising that her friends love her unconditionally, not Abbey getting with Christcat and resolving his anger issues offscreen, not the inevitably lame final confrontation with Alejandro, not fagcat either getting or not getting with Lucy's brother, not Paulo taking his SATs after all.
It takes next to no effort to read this comic, and I want to see what happens when it ends
>ironspike
Uh...
It's depressing that the early color pages have far more effort put into the basics.
Well, apart from the mitten hands, but still beats current toddler fingies.
I hate this whiny faggot, so fucking much.
Also this
All I'm waiting for is justice for Mike, 12 years of shitting on him and tiny moments speckled around that hint they'll eventually get to addressing how he's treated.
I need to Sandy cheating thing to just happen already I need some sort of assblasted HAPPENING in this shlock
but he was Right
The fact that this wasn't setting up to Sandy breaking up with Maishul made that whole chapter a whole lot of fucking nothing
Who else other than Mike has an actual plotline?
Lucy's entire character arc was finished offscreen (and isn't going to be mentioned apparently), so aside from Mike all you've got is Paulo's meaningless journey through adolescent mediocrity and, even worse, the half-planned homo shit or Daisy's trouble with Abbey that's been wrapped up like 4 times now.
Mike's story has actual emotional weight: his friends shitting on him, his girlfriend cucking him plus the guilt over the whole business with Lucy: this shit is actually interesting to see him go through, so how is anyone supposed to be interested in Paulo getting a burger job or learning how to drive after reading best boy's suffering?
Context?
So I went and counted, the comic has covered at least 10 various birthdays (some repeats for certain characters).
What the fuck is wrong with these creators and their weird obessive nature of doing 'birthday chapters' its so fucking juvenile and tired. How many times are we going to have to trod through a stupid fucking 'b-day party where person in the bday is embarressed but thankful' then some relationship drama happens?
Honestly, they are truly and utterly out of ideas.
God, it's so stupid it hurts.
You have to remember, Tae has been doing this since she was in middle/highschool
It's a wonkily-executed page.
The dialogue in the first panel is happening in the present. There's some chatter from what must be several different characters around Lucy about her birthday but she's sad and aloof and doesn't sit with her friends at lunch like usual.
The dialogue in the last panel are from previous years where Mike tried to surprise Lucy on her birthday. He hadn't tried that year and never would because he'd become cross with her. She's pretty upset about that.
Ten months later (ch.92), on the first day of junior year, Mike would explicitly demonstrate regret for not wishing Lucy a happy birthday.
>>ironspike
>Uh...
Are they a bunch of FRAUDS?
Maybe the real birthday surprise was the realisation that Mike didn't love her anymore.
I miss non chibi, current style makes the comic look way more autistic, like tails get trolled autistic where the cute little chibi characters act all dark and serious
