I'd say it should be not just one person, mostly because i think bot Peridot and Jasper have different points to teach Steven. But i'd say those two are the one most fit to do it. Peridot because she's the crystal gem closest to Steven (She's the one who developed the best actual, non "surrogate mother" relationship) and Jasper because of the way in which their have interacted before and all. You know, Jasper's corruption problems and how steven seems to be going through a lot of the issues she went through too. Plus, wouldn't it be fun that the first true villain duo would be the ones to save Steven? The first threat defeats the last one.
