Well if you didn't like then that's mostly a subjective area whithout right or wrong but it's a pretty unique one and you can easily see why many people would find it interesting, sapient rocks able to create fake humanoid bodies made of energy, a caste system with tens of thousands years of history and a society that slowly started to colapse due to their race being instinctively unable to question their leaders flaws and they only reason why they were able to slowly change their culture was due to making contact with a sapient race with more free will.

In spite of it's flaws it told a genuine heartfelt story with investing main characters and lore that people could easily latch onto

It's not Avatar don't get me wrong (granted nothing compares to Avatar), but what Steven Universe did right it did right, and I wish people would actually acknowledge that more instead of just screaming how terrible it is because one character was drawn slightly shorter than usual

SU is barebones, quick and nondemanding television. It can be compelling, but it's ultimately an empty experience to watch. People just become obssessed with it because they'd rather watch 11 mins of mediocre television instead of sitting through 50 mins of great, well made television instead.

The characters are not that great tho. Amethyst is pretty one note, Garnet becomes boring after the fusion plot twist, and even characters like Lapis, Sadie and Lars just ain't that interesting. Peridot can be funny, but there's not much to here. Steven, Pearl and Greg are the only ones i truly cared about.

It's a fantasy action show that also involves relatable domestic situations, that latter of which is popular with women while the former keeps the male audience a little entertained as it goes along. Steven may also be relatable to that one silly boy/guy that hangs around a group of girls who will never get to date any of them despite being their plaything

its got an interesting short term story, and over-arching story, and constantly teases that the show is going somewhere, while drip dropping little bits of backstory here and there, to help you figure out whats going on in the show's world.

I mean I think despite writing flaws I was mostly entertained? The ost and art is good - I just think the show was fighting between being a monster of the week and a serialized epic and did neither as great as we would of liked it to.
