The moral of the story was supposed to be don't help animals in the wild. They could have made it so the cheetah didn't know how to hunt anymore because of reliance on humans, that's realistic and works with the moral.
Why did they have the cheetah turn on the main girl? That reverts the whole story to a "You can't change someone's true nature". In this case, the fact that it's anthropomorphism and is basically a person, it's dangerously close to racism at worst and just a mismatch of ideas at best.
