If there's anything I can tell you about watching Hussie write this confusing fucking mess throughout the years, it's that, it really is only his perseverance that made HS big. Not the trolls, or the weird romance, the videogame references, the batshit insane plot... well of course these contributed greatly.
But what really separated him from other webcomic artists is willingness to continue, to go on. To prod and meddle in imagination land until something really really good grabs you and you can run with it.
